Always great and always fit us in quickly. Took our dog in bc she was wetting the bed. They got us in, diagnosed with minutes that she prob had a tumor on her spleen and walked us through all the scenarios and outcomes. They were able to perform surgery that afternoon and have her home that night. Dr. was so excited to tell us that it was the best scenario and that Roxy was a good girl! Though her spleen had a 6lb, cancerous mass, the Dr. feels he got it all.

Based on available customer reviews, experiences at Costa Mesa Animal Hospital appear to be varied. One reviewer shared a positive experience involving a dog with a suspected splenic tumor. They highlighted the hospital's ability to schedule a quick appointment, provide a rapid diagnosis, explain treatment options, perform surgery on the same day, and successfully remove a large cancerous mass. The reviewer commended the doctor's communication and the positive outcome.
However, another customer shared a deeply negative experience. This review details the case of a senior dog with pancreatitis who was reportedly sent home with a dismissive prognosis after a significant veterinary bill. The dog subsequently suffered severely and required emergency euthanasia at another facility. The reviewer expressed distress over the perceived lack of care and empathy from Costa Mesa Animal Hospital, including the absence of a follow-up response after informing them of their dog's death. This customer strongly advises others to seek veterinary care elsewhere.
Due to the conflicting nature of these reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the hospital's environment, full range of services, specific features, or any promotional information. The positive review suggests capabilities in diagnostic procedures and surgical interventions, as well as the potential for timely care. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the quality of diagnosis, communication, and overall patient care in at least one instance.

Mar 06, 2025 · joanne nicholsNine years. I took my dogs here for nine years and after Dr. Donnelly sent my senior dog with pancreatitis home telling us he would be “fine,” I spent the next six hours watching my dog suffer such unimaginable pain he could not sit or lie down. He was projectile vomiting. We had to take him to the emergency vet for immediate euthanasia to end his suffering. This was after a bill of more than $2,400 from CMAH, who, if they really completed veterinary school, should have known my dog was suffering and should have recommended we help him pass. I asked more than once if he was suffering and they said no. Believe me, he suffered. And after taking my dogs there for nine years, I emailed them to let them know my dog had not survived the night and did not get so much as an “I’m sorry” email. They want your money and don’t really care about your pets or you. Go elsewhere.
Feb 17, 2025 · Lisa AmendI have been a customer for 10 years. I took my dog for a vaccination and got charged $85 for a "check up visit" that lasted 2 minutes! New doctor was pretty rude answering some questions and he did not provide all the information. I'll take my dog to a new vet.
Mar 14, 2025 · Francesco TognoliI've been taking my pets to CMAH for over a decade, & their services and doctors just aren't the same. Dr. Rumm was great but the others I felt didn't exhibit genuine care or guilted me into doing unnecessary tests. In addition, they tried to charge my for an x-ray that didn't happen and overcharge for a second bloodwork test that was $50 more than the first one. Always double check the estimates and the invoices before you pay. There also seemed to be lack of communication between the vets/vet techs and front desk, as each often told me something different. My pet was super ill (passed two weeks after I brought her in for lethargy) and I really felt like front desk admins could care less. Memorable staff are Dr. Rumm, one vet technician (male, young, brown hair, possibly latino), and one front desk admin (female, young, red hair, caucasian). Everyone else...not a great experience. I would recommend seeing a different vet if you can afford it. :(
Dec 09, 2024 · Jeni BliatoutI love this place! Front desk people are amazing! The doctor is amazing! I ran up a tab and didn’t know about it I though they had my card on file and they told me I hate an outstanding balance and they told me “just pay it when ever you can” they never turned away my cat because of that these guys are the BEST. Only place I come too. They always take care of my two guys❤️
