We brought our 6 yr old Katahoula, Heidi in for treatment- she was in serious condition and we found out later, near death. She was diagnosed with Evans disease which really messed up her immune system. Her urine was deep red in color and her skin was yellow with jaundice. They began treatment which included a tranfusion and medication and constant monitoring. The staff was fantastic, Dr. Hillock was a saviour. Heidi began responding to the treatment slowly and after after a week came home to us in time for Thanksgiving - so after 3 years she is 110% and doing great. We brought her back for checkups in the year following and we were always treated well and from what I could tell, so we're the other patents and owners in the waiting room. The cost was high but it was worth every dollar to get her back home and not have to put her down at her young age. She is so full of love and appreciation as well. Thank you VCMLI.

Welcome to Composto Robert A DVM

This introduction focuses on the veterinary practice of Composto Robert A DVM, operating within the Pet Hospital category, located at 75 Sunrise Hwy North Service Rd # A, West Islip, NY 11795, USA. While this clinic is based in the United States, this overview aims to provide local users in Singapore with insights into the experiences one might encounter at a pet hospital, particularly concerning critical care and emergency situations, based on the available customer feedback. This can help you understand what to look for when choosing veterinary services in your local area.

Composto Robert A DVM can be contacted by phone at (631) 587-0800 or via their mobile number, +1 631-587-0800. Please remember that this contact information is for the West Islip, New York location. For pet hospital services in Singapore, you would need to search for local veterinary clinics.

The customer reviews for Composto Robert A DVM present a dichotomy of experiences. One review recounts a life-saving intervention for their 6-year-old Katahoula, Heidi, who was diagnosed with Evans disease and in critical condition. The reviewer praises the "fantastic" staff and specifically Dr. Hillock, whom they credit as a "savior." The treatment included a transfusion, medication, and constant monitoring, leading to Heidi's full recovery and return home in time for Thanksgiving. The owner also notes positive experiences during follow-up checkups and observed good treatment of other pets and owners in the waiting room. While acknowledging that the cost was high, they felt it was justified by the outcome. The reviewer concludes with gratitude to "VCMLI," which might be the operating name or a broader entity associated with this hospital.

In contrast, another reviewer shares a negative experience involving a puppy with a hurt foot. They reported waiting for over an hour at what they perceived to be an "emergency vet hospital" without seeing a doctor, while three other pets who arrived later were seen and left. The reviewer noted a lack of communication or anyone available to speak with about the delay, even while waiting in the hallway. Frustrated by the lack of attention, they eventually left without their puppy being seen, and no one questioned their departure. This individual felt the wait time was unacceptable for an emergency situation.

Considering these contrasting accounts, we can analyze potential aspects of Composto Robert A DVM:

Environment: The reviews provide limited details about the physical environment. The first review mentions a waiting room where other patients and owners seemed to be treated well, suggesting a communal area for those waiting. The second review describes waiting in a room and then the hallway, implying examination rooms and potentially open waiting areas. As a pet hospital that handles critical cases, it likely has facilities for transfusions, monitoring, and other medical procedures. However, the perception of the environment might be influenced by the urgency and waiting times experienced.

Services: Based on the reviews, Composto Robert A DVM offers:

  • Treatment for serious and complex conditions like Evans disease, including blood transfusions and intensive monitoring.
  • Emergency or urgent care for injuries (as indicated by the puppy with a hurt foot).
  • General checkups and follow-up care.

The successful treatment of Heidi suggests a capacity for handling critical internal medicine cases. However, the long wait time reported for a puppy with a limp raises questions about the efficiency of their emergency/urgent care protocols, or perhaps the prioritization of cases.

Features: Key features that can be inferred from the feedback include:

  • Expertise in Critical Care: Dr. Hillock is credited with saving a pet with a life-threatening illness.
  • Caring Staff: The first reviewer described the staff as "fantastic."
  • Potential for High Costs: The successful outcome in the critical care case was acknowledged as expensive but worth it.
  • Issues with Wait Times and Communication in Urgent Situations: The second review highlights significant delays and a lack of communication.

Promotional Information: The first review, detailing Heidi's recovery, serves as a powerful testimonial, promoting the hospital's ability to handle severe medical conditions effectively. The gratitude expressed by the owner could encourage others facing similar situations to seek care here. Conversely, the negative review about the long wait time acts as a cautionary note for those seeking prompt emergency care.

For local users in Singapore seeking a pet hospital, these reviews highlight the importance of considering the clinic's reputation for handling both routine and critical cases, as well as their efficiency in emergency situations and their communication with pet owners, especially during wait times. It may be beneficial to inquire about their protocols for urgent care and to read multiple reviews to get a balanced understanding of their strengths and potential weaknesses.

In conclusion, Composto Robert A DVM in West Islip, NY, appears to be capable of providing excellent care for critical conditions, with a dedicated and skilled staff member in Dr. Hillock. However, there are also concerns raised about long wait times and communication in what was perceived as an emergency situation. When choosing a Pet Hospital in Singapore, it is advisable to consider your pet's specific needs and to research clinics that have a strong reputation for both medical expertise and efficient, communicative service, particularly in urgent or emergency scenarios.

I went there because my puppy hurt his foot while playing and was limping. We were waiting for about an hour for a doctor to come look at him, meanwhile 3 pets came after mine and were in and out. There was no communication or anyone to speak to regarding the situation (I was even waiting outside in the hallway, no one in sight) We got up and left after sitting in a room for over an hour with no one coming back to check up on us. No one even questioned us when leaving!!! There is no reason why I should have waited over an hour at an emergency vet hospital.

They were rude. All I was trying to do was hela a bird that could barely fly and they wouldn't let us leave without it if uninjured. They wanted us to wait very nasty and I did have words for them. DO NOT GO THERE AT ALL. Horrible because of this experience will not want to help an injured animal the bird was a wild bird NOT MINE! Shame on them!

Walked in at 1 am with my dog. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Everyone was great and extremely attentive for being the middle of the night. Thank you so much!
