I used to take both my dogs here, and I thought they were great!! But now I feel like the worst dog mom after I found out how my poor baby was treated when he went to get nurtured . He got nurtured over 3 years ago but I ran into an old friend who was previously a vet tech here. I asked her how her job was going & she told me she no longer worked there due to the negligence of the head vet here. She then got teary eyed and told me he mistreated my Australian shepherd that was getting nurtured, who was just scared.. this is the Hispanic vet who I believe also owns this practice. about a week later my friend who has a Hispanic appearance came over & my poor dog hid under the bed for over 20 minutes.. my dog has never been scared of anyone like that. This confirmed to me that what my friend told me was true. This makes me incredibly upset as a vet tech myself I left my previous hospital because the owner of that vet mistreated animals as well & used a rabies poll on my other dog. Now both of my sweet boys have been traumatized by vets whose job is to love and care for animals. Like I said this happened a while ago and I recently found out. I will be filing a complaint to the board of veterinary medicine although I’m not sure it will go anywhere. I now take my dogs to female only vets because it seems these old men aren’t in this field for the right reasons. I highly encourage you to bring your dogs somewhere else if they tend to be nervous. Shame on the owner of this clinic & anyone who sits and watches the awful things he does to peoples babies & lets it happen.

Welcome to Companion Veterinary Hospital

For local pet owners in Blaine, Minnesota, seeking a "Pet Hospital" for their animal companions, Companion Veterinary Hospital, located at 625 County Hwy 10, presents itself as a potential option. To provide an objective overview, it's essential to consider the varied feedback from recent customer reviews, which present a spectrum of experiences.

The reviews offer differing perspectives on the environment and atmosphere of Companion Veterinary Hospital. One long-term client, who previously thought highly of the clinic, recounts a distressing second-hand account of alleged mistreatment of their dog during a neutering procedure several years prior. This account, relayed by a former vet tech, suggests a potentially negative aspect of the clinic's environment or handling practices at that time, at least in the view of the former staff member. The subsequent fear displayed by the dog towards a person with a similar appearance to the veterinarian in question further solidified this concern for the pet owner. This perspective paints a picture where some animals might experience fear or anxiety related to certain staff members or handling techniques.

In contrast, another recent reviewer expresses strong satisfaction with the care received at Companion Veterinary Hospital. They specifically commend Dr. Carlos for taking the time to ensure the owner understands the necessary care and what to monitor for future visits. This suggests a positive and communicative approach from at least one of the veterinarians at the clinic. This client also praises the desk staff as "kind, supportive & knowledgeable," indicating a positive front-office experience. Furthermore, they note the ease of booking appointments and the clinic's willingness to accommodate urgent needs by "squeezing in" appointments. This paints a picture of a clinic with a friendly and efficient administrative team.

The services offered at Companion Veterinary Hospital appear to cover general veterinary care for common household pets, primarily dogs and cats, as indicated by the reviews. These services likely include routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for illnesses and injuries. The mention of a cat undergoing surgery for a broken leg indicates that the clinic is equipped to handle surgical procedures. The long-term care provided to one client's cats since 2021 suggests a continuity of care for ongoing health needs. However, the first, negative review raises concerns about the handling of animals during procedures like neutering, at least in the past.

Several features emerge from the contrasting reviews. One potential feature, based on the positive review, is a veterinarian (Dr. Carlos) who prioritizes clear communication and patient understanding. The kindness, supportiveness, and knowledge of the desk staff also stand out as a positive feature. The ease of appointment booking and the flexibility to accommodate urgent cases are additional benefits highlighted by a satisfied client. However, the serious allegation of past mistreatment by the head veterinarian, leading to trauma in a patient, as reported in the negative review, is a significant point of concern that cannot be ignored. The owner's decision to seek female-only vets for their current pets due to these past experiences underscores the severity of their concern.

The stark contrast between the two detailed reviews makes it challenging to definitively characterize the overall environment and service quality. While one client reports a positive and communicative experience with Dr. Carlos and the administrative staff, the other recounts a disturbing second-hand account of past mistreatment by the owner veterinarian, which had a lasting negative impact on their pet. This suggests that experiences at Companion Veterinary Hospital may vary depending on the specific veterinarian or staff member involved, or potentially that practices within the clinic may have evolved over time.

Currently, there is no promotional information provided in the available reviews for Companion Veterinary Hospital. Local users seeking information about new client specials, discounts on specific services, or any other promotional offers would need to contact the clinic directly to inquire. The differing accounts of patient care might lead potential clients to seek more information about the clinic's current protocols and the approach of all veterinarians on staff.

In conclusion, Companion Veterinary Hospital in Blaine, Minnesota, presents a mixed picture based on the limited recent customer reviews. While one client expresses strong satisfaction with the communicative approach of Dr. Carlos and the helpfulness of the administrative staff, another recounts a serious allegation of past mistreatment by the owner veterinarian, leading to lasting trauma in their pet. This significant discrepancy suggests that potential clients should exercise caution and consider seeking further information or perhaps even a consultation to assess whether this clinic aligns with their expectations and their pet's specific needs and temperament, particularly if their pet tends to be nervous. The ease of appointment booking and the reported kindness of the desk staff are positive aspects, but the serious nature of the past mistreatment allegation warrants careful consideration.

Local pet owners who are considering Companion Veterinary Hospital are encouraged to contact them directly at (763) 755-9255 or +1 763-755-9255 to inquire about their current practices, the veterinarians on staff, and to address any concerns arising from the varied customer feedback. Visiting their location at 625 County Hwy 10, Blaine, MN 55434, USA, might also provide an opportunity to observe the clinic environment and interact with the staff to form their own informed opinion.

Dr. Carlos takes his time to be sure I understand what care is needed right now, and what we want to watch for our bext visit. He has been caring for my two cats since I got them back in 2021. The desk staff has always been kind, supportive & knowledgeable. Booking appointments has been easy & on occasion, “I have been squeezed in”. My cat Macchiato is somewhat die yak needs & is in the office quarterly; including having surgery fur of all things, a broken leg! My other Biscotti has only been to the vet for shots & her spay. I could not ask for better care. Thank you so much to the entire staff at Companion Veterinary Clinic in Blaine! Nita M.

My son recommended me to this fine establishment. The Doctor is very honest. The staff are amazing with our kitties. There prices are very competitive. I am grateful for the wonderful care given to our kitties.

I brought my Olde English Bulldog Luna in for care here after being gone for several years. She has bad allergies which has caused her to rub her ears herself and cause cauliflower ear . All I can say is Dr. Carlos was completely rude, to the point of calling me a terrible pet owner. He kept saying demeaning things to me like “ do you understand ? “ and “ Don’t Do What You Have Been Doing!!” Which is what Dr ? of course he told me they could not deal with her condition there, referred me to an animal allergist and gave me the referral, Which is fine, but why did he scold me like a child? He made me feel horrible and I finally came out and said, “wow I feel like a terrible pet owner! And I love my pet. He kept scolding me about her allergies for a hour and a half if not more. They gave her antibiotics, an ear wash and told me to return in 2 weeks! I will not return without my husband with me, maybe he respects men more? But the bill was over 400 dollars which I don’t feel the treatment we got was worth 10 cents. Very disappointed here. If you feel like being judged , and put down to your face go here! I was brought to tears in the office. No heart in this office. I plan to take her back to her old vet. I pay more there, but when we leave I feel welcome to come back.

My pets all have received great care from Dr Gandara & his staff throughout the years. I returned to him after living elsewhere a couple years because of it. He shows real compassion for all animals.
