We moved from San Diego to Oregon and you know what I miss most besides my friends? My vet. Dr. Satowski is the kindest and most knowledgeable vet you will ever find. Over the years she saved the lives of two of our dogs, and was more than compassionate when we had to put our beloved rag doll cat to sleep. It’s getting to be the time when we need to send our beloved pug across the rainbow bridge and of course we are putting it off. I just wish I had Dr. Satowski to help us through it, she is absolutely the best.

Companion Care Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care Introduce

Welcome to Companion Care Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, a "Pet Hospital" located at 16777 Bernardo Center Dr E-10, San Diego, CA 92128, USA, offering a range of veterinary services to the local community. You can reach them at (858) 451-0990 or their mobile line at +1 858-451-0990 to inquire about their services, schedule appointments, or seek urgent care for your beloved pets. This facility aims to provide comprehensive veterinary care, addressing both routine health needs and unexpected medical situations.

The environment of Companion Care Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is likely designed to cater to both routine appointments and urgent cases. This might include separate waiting areas to accommodate different needs, well-equipped examination rooms for routine check-ups and consultations, and dedicated spaces for urgent care and potentially surgical procedures. The goal is typically to create a setting where pet owners feel comfortable bringing their animals for various medical needs, from wellness visits to more critical situations. However, specific details about the clinic's ambiance are not provided in the reviews.

The services offered at Companion Care Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care are expected to be comprehensive, covering a wide spectrum of veterinary medicine. As a "Pet Hospital" with an "Urgent Care" component, they likely provide routine wellness examinations, vaccinations, and preventative care to keep pets healthy. Their urgent care services would address more immediate medical needs that are not life-threatening but require prompt attention. Additionally, they may offer diagnostic services such as laboratory testing and imaging, medical treatments for various illnesses and conditions, and surgical procedures. The mention of end-of-life care in both reviews indicates that this is also a service they provide.

One glowing review comes from a former San Diego resident who moved to Oregon and deeply misses their vet at Companion Care, Dr. Satowski. This customer describes Dr. Satowski as "the kindest and most knowledgeable vet" they have ever encountered. They recount instances where Dr. Satowski "saved the lives of two of our dogs" over the years, highlighting her expertise and dedication. Furthermore, they praise her compassion during the difficult time of putting their cat to sleep, emphasizing her supportive nature. This reviewer expresses a wish to have Dr. Satowski's guidance again when their current dog's time comes, underscoring the profound trust and positive experiences they had with her.

However, a starkly contrasting and deeply concerning review details a severely negative experience during the euthanasia of the reviewer's dog. This customer recounts an encounter with a staff member named Michalena, whom they describe as "extremely rude and aggressive" towards their emotional mother who was struggling with the decision. The reviewer alleges that Michalena shamed them instead of offering comfort, displaying a complete lack of compassion. The procedure itself is described as traumatic, with the entire vial of euthanasia solution allegedly injected at once, causing the dog to squeal before passing without a prior sedative. The reviewer expresses profound distress and lasting trauma due to this experience, strongly advising others to "stay FAR away from this vet." This account raises serious concerns about the clinic's protocols and the compassion of at least one staff member during a highly sensitive procedure.

The significant disparity between these two reviews highlights the importance of considering all available feedback. While one customer had overwhelmingly positive experiences with a specific veterinarian, Dr. Satowski, another experienced a deeply negative and allegedly mishandled end-of-life procedure involving a different staff member, Michalena. This suggests that the quality of care and the level of compassion may vary depending on the individual staff member involved.

Given the severity of the negative review, particularly concerning the alleged lack of sedation during euthanasia and the insensitive treatment of a grieving pet owner, potential clients should carefully consider this feedback. While the positive review speaks to the exceptional care provided by Dr. Satowski, the negative account raises serious ethical and procedural questions. It is important for pet owners to feel confident in the compassion and competence of the entire veterinary team, especially during vulnerable times like end-of-life care.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Veterinary hospitals may occasionally offer promotions for certain services, especially for new clients or during specific times of the year. To inquire about any current promotions at Companion Care Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, it would be best to contact them directly at (858) 451-0990.

In conclusion, Companion Care Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care in San Diego offers a range of veterinary services, including urgent care. While one former client highly recommends Dr. Satowski for her kindness, knowledge, and life-saving care, another recent client recounts a deeply traumatic experience during their dog's euthanasia, alleging rudeness, lack of compassion, and improper procedure by another staff member. This stark contrast in experiences suggests that while some members of the team may provide excellent care, there are significant concerns raised about the handling of sensitive situations and adherence to best practices by others. Local pet owners should carefully weigh these reviews and consider their individual needs and priorities when choosing a veterinary hospital. It may be beneficial to inquire specifically about the protocols and staff involved in any procedures, especially end-of-life care.

Stay FAR away from this vet. Michalena was extremely rude and aggressive towards my mother when we came to put our dog to sleep. My mom was clearly emotional and was having cold feet, as any loving pet owner would. She came into the room and shamed us for it instead of providing comfort. She has ZERO compassion. When it came time to do it, she injected the entire vial all at once causing him to squeal before he passed. Any professional vet should know that you’re supposed to sedate the animal first and then continue with the rest. We had no chance to give him one last hug and my dog had no chance to close his eyes. My mother is now traumatized because of this terrible experience. And I’m sick to my stomach because of this vet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

My jack russel/dachshund mix had a very bad cough starting about two nights ago. My husband was very concerned as he was with her this morning and found this center who was willing to take Courage in within two hours. The vet was the only thing, besides my husband and my dog, that kept me from breaking down completely. She was wise in asking questions that would guide informed answers, and I think what I respect the most was that she was not afraid to say "I don't know, I need more information ".. that is a huge data point for me and she gained all my respect by being honest. we are in a treatment plan, and the staff and managers were all so kind to my anxious dog (and a very anxious me. ) we will be visiting again for results from a blood work up, and I feel so at ease knowing my dog is comfortable with these wonderful women now. They were so patient with us both, and the vet herself spent almost 45 minutes with me between breaks to ensure I understood her findings. They were also very reasonable and worked within our budget; which further points to their prioritization of love and care for animals over profit. I'm so grateful for Companion Care and their entire team, even the tech who helped me get to my car because she saw me struggling to carry my dog and all my stuff (a lovely young brunette woman.) I just can't express how grateful we are. Thank you all and we will see you tomorrow

Companion care has been the best vet office I've ever been too and the only one I've stuck with. They probably saved my dogs life on one occasion when she had pancreatitis. When my dog passed away they sent me a really nice card that they all signed. Good people, don't over charge, and very caring.

Not impressed by the suggested solutions. The doctor’s explanations are thorough, but instead of being provided with a long term solution, it felt like we were being strung along. We switched to a new vet office and our pet’s condition has improved. Like others have said, there are many options out there especially in the RB area.
