Been coming here 5+ years. Had a horrendous experience this morning that mirrored similar experiences my family and I have had in the past here. The lack of empathy (especially from the brunette receptionist) was heartbreaking. I was inquiring about whether it is appropriate to bring in my cat after eating cooked chicken bones and vomiting. I wanted to know the level of danger. I even brought the bone with me. This is not the first time they REFUSED to consult to any degree (even whether to bring him in or not!) without an appointment. It comes off that they prioritize money over the love and care of animals. It is difficult to send your pets somewhere that has a widespread lack of compassion. I am a doctor myself and I would never treat a patient in such a disregarding manner. Even if I can’t give a conclusive answer about prognosis, I would at least advise whether it’s appropriate to come in!! I was left to rely on Google answers to inform me what to do/watch out for. Fortunately, a different vet consulted with me online and gave me advice without even needing to come in. The doctors at Companion are great at their jobs in the sense that one of my cats had a successful surgery there. With that being said, even the doctor will treat my cats with an aloof attitude and an air of disregard. This was the final straw.

Companion Animal Hospital of Milford Introduce

Welcome to the introduction of Companion Animal Hospital of Milford, located at 100 Lansdale Ave, Milford, CT 06460, USA. Operating under the platform category of "Pet Hospital," this facility aims to provide veterinary care services to the local community and their pets. The provided information includes the clinic's name, contact details, address, and two customer reviews that present significant concerns regarding the hospital's empathy, communication, and diagnostic thoroughness.

As a "Pet Hospital," Companion Animal Hospital of Milford is expected to offer a range of medical services focused on the health and well-being of animals. These typically include preventative care, treatment for illnesses, and various medical and surgical procedures. However, the customer feedback provided raises questions about the overall quality of care and client experience.

Environment:

While the reviews do not explicitly describe the physical environment of Companion Animal Hospital of Milford, one отзыв mentions interaction with a "brunette receptionist" who was perceived as lacking empathy. This suggests a front office environment where client interactions occur. The отзыв also mentions a successful surgery performed on a cat, implying the presence of surgical facilities. However, neither review provides a comprehensive picture of the clinic's overall atmosphere or facilities.

Services:

Based on the customer reviews, we can identify some of the services offered at Companion Animal Hospital of Milford:

  • Surgery: One отзыв mentions a successful surgery performed on a cat.
  • Radiology (X-rays): Another отзыв states that X-rays were taken to diagnose a pet's upset stomach.
  • Prescription Medication: Pain medication for nausea was prescribed to a pet.

As a "Pet Hospital," it is likely that Companion Animal Hospital of Milford offers a broader range of services, which typically include:

  • Routine check-ups and wellness exams
  • Vaccinations
  • Dental care
  • Diagnostic services (including laboratory work, imaging like ultrasound in addition to X-rays)
  • Treatment for illnesses and injuries
  • Preventative care (flea, tick, heartworm)
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Potentially, more complex surgical procedures beyond routine ones.

However, one of the negative reviews specifically points out the lack of a recommended ultrasound, which the reviewer believes led to a delay in diagnosing a critical intestinal obstruction.

Features:

One feature mentioned is that "The doctors at Companion are great at their jobs in the sense that one of my cats had a successful surgery there." This suggests that the veterinarians possess surgical skills. However, the same отзыв immediately follows this with concerns about the doctors' "aloof attitude and an air of disregard."

A significant concern raised in the reviews is a perceived lack of empathy and a prioritization of appointments/money over immediate consultation or advice, even in potentially urgent situations. One reviewer felt that the hospital refused to offer any guidance without an appointment, which they interpreted as prioritizing financial gain over animal welfare.

Another critical point is the alleged failure to conduct a thorough examination (including an ultrasound), which a reviewer believes resulted in a delayed diagnosis of a life-threatening intestinal obstruction.

Promotional Information:

The provided text does not contain any promotional information. Potential local users would need to contact the hospital directly to inquire about any special offers or pricing for services.

Customer Testimonials in Detail:

The two customer reviews present serious concerns about the hospital's practices:

  • The first отзыв describes a long-term client (5+ years) who had a "horrendous experience" marked by a lack of empathy, particularly from the receptionist. The reviewer inquired about bringing in a cat that had ingested cooked chicken bones and was vomiting, even bringing the bone for context. They claim the hospital refused to offer any consultation without an appointment, leading the reviewer to feel that money is prioritized over animal care. This отзыв also mentions that while a surgery was successful, the doctors can exhibit an "aloof attitude and an air of disregard." This negative experience was described as the "final straw" for this client.
  • The second отзыв strongly advises others to "Stay Away!!!" This reviewer brought their pet, Zena, in for an upset stomach. X-rays were taken, and pain medication for nausea was prescribed. However, an ultrasound was not recommended or performed, which the reviewer believes led to a missed diagnosis of an intestinal obstruction. Zena subsequently required emergency surgery. The reviewer expresses strong disappointment with the "quality of treatment," suggesting that a more thorough initial examination, including an ultrasound, could have prevented significant pain, suffering, and a complicated surgery.

These reviews collectively paint a concerning picture of Companion Animal Hospital of Milford, highlighting potential issues with customer service empathy, initial diagnostic procedures, and overall quality of care as perceived by these two pet owners.

In conclusion, Companion Animal Hospital of Milford, as a "Pet Hospital" in Milford, CT, has received customer feedback that raises significant concerns. While surgical competence is mentioned in one отзыв, both reviews highlight a perceived lack of empathy from staff and potential shortcomings in diagnostic thoroughness that allegedly led to a delayed diagnosis and unnecessary suffering for one pet. Local users considering this veterinary hospital should carefully weigh these recent experiences. For more information, they can contact the hospital directly at (203) 882-1100 or +1 203-882-1100, or visit their location at 100 Lansdale Ave. However, based on the provided reviews, it would be prudent for pet owners to inquire extensively about consultation policies, diagnostic procedures, and the overall approach to patient care.

Stay Away!!! Had our baby Zena there for an appointment for her upset stomach. They took x rays and prescribed her pain medication for her nausea. Because they did not recommend or do a ultrasound…Zena had an obstruction in her intestines. Long story short she had to go into emergency surgery to get the obstruction removed. Companion Animal Hospital could have saved Zena several days of pain, suffering and a complicated surgery if they only had done a thorough examination and ultrasound to begin with. Very Disappointed with their quality of treatment.

So the doctors and techs were great. Very open and clean. I was not a fan of being told $415 over the phone for 3 8 week old puppies to get their exams, dhpp vaccines and dewormer but got charged $740 for a $70 fecal exam for each puppy which i did not ask for (i did not bring in any poop samples for them to test) and a lepto vaccine i did not ask for either. They also said they showed me an invoice before taking us back but I did not see anything before they brought me and my puppies back, only confirmed the appointment. They also take your pet out of the room for their vaccines (my normal vet does everything in front of you) and I heard each of my puppies screaming from the back room as I was in the lobby waiting for them to be brought out. I personally will not be going back nor will be recommending this place to anyone I know.

We have been bringing our pets here for years. Everyone is friendly, straightforward, and helpful. Highly recommend bringing your furry family members here.

They truly care and help. I didn't get the same out of another place in the area. The young lady doctor is a dog person and understands. The staff is attentive, timely, and professional. UPDATE* While I still believe this young lady doctor is a good doctor, I'd like to give a strong word of CAUTION. I lost my dog do to the Librela medicine suggested and recommended here. Please do your research on this med BEFORE giving it to your dog. There are a few FB pages dedicated to real life people's experiences with this horrible med. This is not against the docs themselves BUT they're aware this med is killing dogs. Please do your homework and consider alternative to Librela.
