I've been bringing my dog here for the past 7 years. Honestly, this place is not for everyone. I don't want to knock this vet too much, but if you are close enough, I recommend Inwood Animal Hospital. They are more affordable, nicer, offer alternatives, and have better reviews. The prices skyrocketed over the years. Yes, I am aware prices change and inflation but the increase (especially moving to a different location) is incredible. I wish I had been provided a different option when the vet closed on 180th street (they sent everyone's pet records to this vet). Unfortunately, it's the closest vet I could find. I have a couple of issues other than that they aren't too bad. First issue, the wait time is ridiculous! I have waited over 30 minutes. My dog is extremely anxious, barks and tries to run away. He is a medium/large size dog. It is essential that my dog be seen at the time of the appointment to not distress other pets, staff, and people. I have to wait outside just so I am not disrupting. This truly sucks in the winter. My second issue is when you let them know some meds are not working they do not do much to provide alternatives. I HIGHLY suggest looking up meds online before getting them here. Same as any doctor offering name brand instead of generic. EVERYONE should do this with doctors and vets. I had meds provided, the vet price was over $100, but online $20 generic brand. My third issue is when you call you can never reach anyone. One positive! The staff are very kind. Staff address questions and concerns in a way that is easy to understand.

Welcome to Community Veterinary Medicine
Welcome to Community Veterinary Medicine, your local Pet Hospital Near You, located at 3619 Broadway in New York, New York. We aim to provide veterinary care to the New York City community and surrounding areas. However, customer feedback indicates a range of experiences with our services.
The environment at Community Veterinary Medicine is described by one customer as very clean and neat. However, another reviewer mentions significant price increases, especially after a location change. Long wait times for appointments, sometimes exceeding 30 minutes, have also been reported, which can be particularly challenging for anxious pets. Additionally, some customers have experienced difficulty reaching the clinic by phone.
At Community Veterinary Medicine, our services include general veterinary care. One customer reported positive emergency care for their cat, including fast processing for blood work and x-rays. The staff is generally described as kind and helpful in explaining costs upfront and addressing questions clearly. However, there have been concerns raised about the limited exploration of alternative medications and a preference for name-brand options, which can be more expensive than generics. It's advisable for pet owners to research medications beforehand. The transfer of pet records from a closed sister clinic on 180th street has also been a point of transition for some clients.
A key feature of Community Veterinary Medicine in New York, NY, is the kindness and clarity of the staff. The clinic is also noted for being clean and providing transparent pricing. However, potential drawbacks include significant price increases over time, long wait times for appointments, difficulty reaching the clinic by phone, and a perceived lack of proactive exploration of more affordable, generic medication alternatives. While some customers have had positive experiences with emergency care, others suggest considering alternative clinics like Inwood Animal Hospital for potentially more affordable and better-reviewed services. It's important for local users to weigh these mixed reviews when considering Community Veterinary Medicine.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available. However, the feedback regarding transparent pricing offered by the staff may be a positive aspect for local users in New York, NY, to consider, alongside the reported kindness and clarity of the staff. It is advisable to inquire about wait times and medication options during your visit.

Mar 19, 2025 · NoelI don't understand the negative reviews of this place. Staff is very friendly, they are very forward of what they have to offer. No hidden fees, they will explain the cost before moving forward. Very clean and neat property that they have. Took in my cat Travis for a medical emergency, they fixed him right up. Process for blood work, xrays etc was super fast. He is doing much better now, highly recommend this Vet.
Feb 07, 2025 · NYYNEWS FelixOn Friday, my daughter’s dog had an appointment for a wellness check visit and I joined her. After being informed we were the first patient of the day on Wednesday, we were left waiting for 45 minutes for the doctor to see her. The doctor was very rude and condescending, never gave my daughter any explanation before making decisions for her and her dog and whenever my daughter asked questions she got aggressive. When you work with people you need to have a good communication skills and be as professional as you can be to provide the best service for your client. This doctor seriously lacks communication skills, compassion, and respect for their patients.
Nov 30, 2024 · Albania GarciaDr Kreiger saved my cats life literally! I also can’t understand the bad reviews - the staff here is very friendly and you can tell they care about every animal that comes through its doors. My cat had a life-threatening issue, and the transparency and education the office offers is so thorough, which led to my full understanding of the symptoms, causes, and next steps regarding his medical issue. The doctor also monitored him for two extra days giving him the IV fluids he needed for no charge to make sure he was fully feeling better. I’m SO SO glad we took our cat to this office vs other offices in the area that require a deposit before your appointment is even made. Recommend this office to anyone in Harlem or UWS.
Mar 07, 2025 · Hillary WicklineTook our 2 month old puppy here today. What a great experience. For one this appointment was last minute and the fit us in. They was so friendly and awesome. The wait time was so short it shocked me. They cared for our baby so sweetly. This was her first vet appointment at that. We found our permanent doctor. Thank you guys for taking such good care of our fur baby.
