Best veterinary practice in town! I tell everyone about Dr. J Dolan & Dr. Emory Dolan. They are always very informative and want you to understand the pet's conditions, behaviors, etc. They always treat my pets well and are willing to fit them in when they need urgent care. I'll be moving 3.5 hours away, but I still plan to bring my dogs back to be seen at Colonial Vet! :)

The dedication of the team, often described as treating pets like their own, creates a unique and highly valued experience for local pet parents.

The environment at Colonial Veterinary Hospital is consistently described as welcoming, caring, and professional. From the moment clients walk through the door, the front desk staff, like Jayne, make a fantastic first impression, being "sooooo sweet" and helpful. This initial warmth sets the tone for a positive visit, helping to put both pets and their owners at ease. The facility is equipped to handle a wide range of veterinary needs, implying a clean, organized, and efficiently run space with various areas for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments. The atmosphere is one where pets can feel comfortable, even excited, to visit, as evidenced by a rescue staffy who "LOVES going to Boulevard Animal Hospital" and "thinks we're going to go hang out with her friends." This speaks volumes about the genuine care and positive reinforcement pets receive, transforming a potentially stressful experience into a pleasant one. The attention to detail, even down to an easy check-out experience with an outside exit, further enhances the overall comfortable and convenient environment for clients.

Colonial Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services, addressing both routine and urgent healthcare needs for companion animals. Their services include general medicine, encompassing yearly wellness visits and sick pet examinations, where doctors take ample time to discuss a pet's condition and behaviors. They provide essential preventive care, including vaccinations and parasite control. The hospital is well-equipped for diagnostics, utilizing digital x-rays and an in-house laboratory for quick results on blood chemistries, heartworm tests, and stool checks. For more advanced diagnostics, they collaborate with external laboratories like IDEXX. Dental care is a key offering, including routine cleanings and extractions, performed under careful anesthesia monitoring. Surgical services cover a wide variety of procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex abdominal procedures and even specialized orthopedic surgeries like Tibial Tuberosity Advancement for Cranial Cruciate Ligament rupture. They also offer microchipping, hospitalization when needed, and compassionate end-of-life care. This allows for the immediate dispensing of prescription medications, including those for chronic conditions or acute needs, directly following an appointment. They also likely provide access to various preventative medications, such as flea, tick, and heartworm treatments, and possibly specialized dietary foods or supplements recommended by their veterinarians. This integrated approach ensures that pet owners can conveniently obtain the necessary items for their pet's care directly from a trusted source, often with personalized guidance from the veterinary team.

For promotional information, Colonial Veterinary Hospital effectively leverages its strong reputation for exceptional care and patient-focused service. Their phone numbers, (804) 741-1763 and +1 804-741-1763, are the primary contact points for scheduling appointments. Key promotional messages would emphasize the high caliber of their veterinarians, particularly Dr. J Dolan and Dr. Emory Dolan, and their commitment to patient education and understanding. The ability to accommodate urgent care needs and the compassionate approach to all situations, including end-of-life care, are strong selling points. Testimonials from loyal clients who speak of the staff's kindness, thoroughness, and the overall positive experience serve as powerful endorsements. The fact that clients are willing to travel long distances underscores the perceived value and quality of care. Colonial Veterinary Hospital positions itself as a long-term partner in pet health, building trust and confidence through consistent, high-quality medical care delivered with genuine affection for animals.

This was my first visit. Jayne at the front desk left a fantastic impression...when I called as a new patient to make a first appointment and when I arrived at my first appointment. She is sooooo sweet! Dr Jack displayed caring, knowledge and excellent communication skills. He provided info...and I have had cats for 50 years...that I heard first from him. His nurse was helpful and my check out experience was easy and in an area with an outside exit. And the cost was very very reasonable. I really like this practice and I highly recommend. CARING...and ANIMAL LOVING

Update 01/2025: I had a challenging start at this veterinary office, but once my dog was placed under the care of Dr. Emery, everything improved significantly. She was incredibly responsive, compassionate, and proactive in providing solutions for my dog’s seizures, often on very short notice when issues arose. Sadly, my dog passed away suddenly due to her condition, but I truly appreciate the effort and care Dr. Emery provided during such a difficult time. Her dedication and support made a meaningful difference, and I’m grateful for her compassion throughout. Original Review 06/2024: I brought my newly adopted dog here today for a wellness check and was so disappointed. The front desk staff and vet assistants were lovely, but the vet who met with us was incredibly abrasive and condescending. After the third time assuming my negligence, I had to stop him and inform him that the way he was "joking" with me was not appropriate. However, after I brought this to his attention, he was able to regroup and become more informational and less antagonistic. Unfortunately, this wasn't a good match.

This clinic is the BEST. The staff is wonderful. I started with Dr Riley, who was kind and compassionate, and Dr Dolan has continued in his footsteps above and beyond. He is treating my 14 year old Maltese for heart disease.. when I had a session with an animal communicator, one of the first things, my dog said, was, he loves his vet… that says EVERYTHING!!
