The original owner Dr. Poole was absolutely fantastic. Treated my dogs for nearly a decade and service was amazing. Colonial not the same since he retired. I will be polite and say transferred my pets to another local vet with more similar common sense, small town service we had with Dr. Poole.

Information regarding the specific environment and facilities of Colonial Animal Hospital is limited in the provided text. However, the overwhelmingly positive review offers some insights into the atmosphere and the way the clinic operates. The reviewer's enthusiastic description suggests a welcoming and caring environment where both pets and their owners feel comfortable and valued. While visual details are absent, the emphasis on the staff's kindness and the feeling of pets being treated like family implies a warm and reassuring atmosphere. It is reasonable to expect that, as a functioning pet hospital, Colonial Animal Hospital would be equipped with standard examination rooms for consultations and check-ups, and potentially other necessary facilities depending on the scope of their services, such as treatment areas, surgical suites, and diagnostic imaging equipment.
The services offered by Colonial Animal Hospital are not explicitly detailed in the provided information. However, based on the general expectations for a comprehensive pet hospital, it is likely that they provide a range of essential veterinary services to address the health and wellness needs of pets in the Colts Neck area. These typically include routine wellness examinations and preventative care, such as vaccinations, parasite control (for fleas, ticks, and heartworms), and nutritional counseling. Early detection and preventative measures are crucial for maintaining the long-term health of animals.
In addition to preventative care, Colonial Animal Hospital likely offers diagnostic services to identify and understand various health issues that may arise. This would involve thorough physical examinations and may include laboratory testing of blood, urine, and fecal samples, as well as imaging techniques like radiography (X-rays) to visualize internal structures. These diagnostic tools are essential for accurate assessment and the development of appropriate treatment plans.
For pets requiring medical intervention, Colonial Animal Hospital would provide medical treatments for a wide array of illnesses and conditions. This could involve administering medications, providing supportive care, and managing chronic diseases. While not explicitly mentioned, it is common for pet hospitals to also offer surgical services, ranging from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex surgeries depending on the expertise of the veterinarians and the facilities available. Dental care, including routine cleanings and treatment for dental diseases, is another important service often provided by veterinary hospitals to ensure the oral health of pets.
Features that appear to be hallmarks of Colonial Animal Hospital, based on the enthusiastic customer review, include the exceptional kindness and friendliness of every single staff member. The reviewer emphasizes that the staff treats pets as if they were their own, highlighting a deep level of care and compassion that goes beyond standard professional practice. This personal touch and genuine affection for animals seem to be a core value of the hospital.
Another significant feature is the ease of obtaining appointments and the responsiveness of the hospital when needed. The reviewer notes that it is "so easy to get an appointment" and that "when you need them, they are there," indicating a commitment to accessibility and timely care for their patients. Furthermore, their follow-up care, including calls to check up on pets after they leave the clinic, demonstrates a dedication to ongoing well-being and a strong connection with their clients and their animals.
The initial review, while noting a decline in the "small town service" experienced under the original owner, Dr. Poole, still acknowledges his fantastic service over a decade. This suggests that the hospital has a history of providing excellent care within the community. However, the more recent and overwhelmingly positive review paints a picture of a current team that is deeply caring and highly regarded by at least one of their clients.
Promotional information is not provided in the given text. Typically, a pet hospital might promote its services through its website, local advertising, or community involvement. They might highlight specific areas of expertise, advanced technologies they utilize, or the experience and qualifications of their veterinary team. Given the strong positive feedback regarding their staff and caring approach, Colonial Animal Hospital might focus on promoting these aspects as key differentiators to attract new clients who prioritize a warm and compassionate veterinary experience.
In conclusion, Colonial Animal Hospital in Colts Neck, NJ, appears to be a pet hospital that is highly regarded for its exceptionally kind, friendly, and helpful staff who are deeply committed to treating pets as their own. The ease of appointment scheduling and the follow-up care provided further underscore their dedication to both the animals and their owners. While one review noted a change since the original owner's retirement, the more recent feedback strongly suggests that Colonial Animal Hospital continues to provide a caring and supportive environment for pets and their families. For local pet owners seeking a veterinary hospital where their animals will be treated with genuine affection and receive attentive care, Colonial Animal Hospital presents itself as a highly recommended option.

Apr 08, 2025 · Michael B5 stars is an understatement to what they deserve. They deserve 100/5 stars because words cannot describe how amazing Colonial Animal Hospital is. They are not only AMAZING in their practice, but everyone single staff member there is so kind, friendly, helpful, and most importantly, treats your loved one like their own. And if that’s not good enough, it is so easy to get an appointment and when you need them, they are there. Even after you leave they call to check up. I hope they realize how much their love and care makes a difference. If this is not your vet, then switch over IMMEDIATELY. We love you guys sooo much and thank you for everything!! -Mommy and Toby ❤️
Jan 16, 2025 · Melissa TraceI am so so grateful for this amazing place - who truly cares about you and your pet. They helped my dog Kylie with short notice even though we have never been there before. So sweet and welcoming right away. Dr. Schindewolf did a full exam on my sweet senior and went over every option with us - and was just so compassionate. He put a lot into perspective for us and we are just enjoying our time with our sweet girl knowing she has the care she needs right around the corner. 5+++ stars!
Feb 04, 2025 · Laura DoremusMy dog Lucy was not a patient here. My 4lb Yorkie took a sudden turn over the weekend and our normal vet was closed. I called every vet in the area to see if they would take her. I wanted to avoid the hospital since Lucy was 15 and I didn’t want to be forced to keep her over night, etc. This veterinary practice told us to come in, though they were about to close. The vet was SO caring. I had a very hard time and she did not rush me, though her day already ended. She treated myself and Lucy as if she has known us for years. To the Vet that was there that night, thank you. I am blessed that Lucy was placed in your care in her last moments of life.
Jan 16, 2025 · Susan ImperialeWe have been going to this vet / animal hospital since 1995. The new vets are great and the staff really cares about their patients. Our 9 year old dog is very comfortable going to Colonial and so are we.
