College Pet Clinic

This happened years ago, but I'm upset to see Dr Kang still practicing. Dr Kang was fine for basic shots and spay/neuter of our two dogs. But when we woke up one morning to our old dog struggling to stand up, we took her in. Dr Kang took X-rays of her head and said she had a tumor. He doesn't euthanize, so we would have to take her to the emergency vet in Carlsbad. After a day of saying goodbyes, we took her to Carlsbad late at night. Two doctors there took a look at the X-rays and confirmed there was NO tumor. They easily diagnosed her with idiopathic vestibular syndrome, something rather harmless that just looks really scary but would go away on its own. Our dog recovered in just a couple days and went on to live a couple more years with no other major issues. I feel like dr Kang doesn't euthanize pets because he won't deal with the liability or emotional owners in his office. He doesn't stand behind his work. It was a blessing in disguise, as our dog would've been put down in his office simply because the man couldn't read an X-ray! Simply unbelievable

I’m very happy with my experience with Dr Kang and his office. My cat had a rash and scabs most of his life. Lost most of his hair from the rashes. I fostered/ adopted him when he was 6 from a friend and after about a month or two of the bumps and scabs not going away i went to his office. I thought he was allergic to fleas. He was an indoor outdoor cat that refused to be kept indoors. He constantly got fleas and was extremely skinny. Dr kang agreed that he was allergic to fleas. Im glad he didnt need to do any crazy tests or other things cause i only had enough for medicine. He gave him exactly what he needed and my cat gained weight and is rash free thanks to the prescription strength flea medicine. Thanks to Dr Kang, Meeko lives a much happier life, gained five pounds, grew back his hair , and is purring much more. I also went in to get my puppies parvo shots. I think andrew ( so sweet and cheerful) was the vet tech, and my puppy never cried from the shots. Painless! Gave lots of treats. Fyi dont go on saturdays, they have a girl vet tech who seems like she doesnt want to be there you know what i mean and she was rough with the shots and a little cold in general. She didnt offer my puppy any treats too. Luckily i had some. I only see her there on Saturdays. Wish i knew her name cause i dont want to miss place the hate.

I took Angel, my 10 year old Bichon to Dr Kang for her first visit with him due to some hearing loss. I mentioned she also occasionally chews her paws. He gave her Cytapoint, a shot for allergies, but gave me no information on it or possible side effects. I chose Kang because my sister had taken her dogs 2 decades ago. When Kang's son gave the Cytapoint she yelped, he stopped, and then Dr Kang gave it. 9 days later Angel was weak, lethargic, wouldn't eat or drink and vomiting. It was a Sunday so I took her to ER. They did $800 of tests and gave her a nausea shot. I refused further tests to follow up with Dr Kang. The next day I called Dr Kang and explained her poor condition. Their next appointment was in 4 days. Another vet got her in within 2 hours and she was diagnosed with auto immune Hemolytic Anemia and Thrombocytopenia with a 20% chance of survival. Back to the ER we did subcutaneous fluids, a blood transfusion, steroids, and nausea shot. I found out that Cytapoint, the shot Dr Kang gave Angel for mild allergies can cause these rare but deadly side effects. I held her for 5 days grieving as her condition worsened until she died at Dr. Kang's. I wanted him to see that the shot he gave her killed her. He promised to not give that shot to other dogs and to report it to the FDA and Zoetis, the manufacturer. It took him 12 days to report it and never did send a sympathy card or apologize. I've posted on FB and Nextdoor to warn others about him and Cytapoint.

I was not impressed with this vet practice. It may be more affordable (maybe), but that’s the only plus. - I brought my dog in for shots. I wanted to ask about scheduling her for her spay appointment, but I was talked over and not listened to so I didn’t book at that time. - When I did book her to be spayed, there wasn’t any conversation about if it was the right time for her. It was booked and that was that. I wanted to have a conversation but again, I was not listened to. - After she got spayed, the vet didn’t send us home with a cone or even tell us to pickup a cone. I knew we needed something so I quickly ordered from Amazon, but I couldn’t fathom that they didn’t mention one of the most important parts of dog aftercare. - About 2 weeks later, her stitches looked off and were looking worse and worse. We noticed red bumps and the start of some leaking. We sent a photo to the vet, but they told us there was no issue and it looked normal. - We took her to another vet 2 days later, and her stitches were infected and required another round of antibiotics to properly heal. I felt guilty for bringing my dog here to get spayed in the first place. We will be going to another vet that listens moving forward.

Best vet I've found yet. I found the staff at college pet to be very easy going, fair, and kind. It is a family practice, and the atmosphere is quiet and mellow. I had both my geriatric dog and cat for an introductory visit, so was prepared for chaos, stress, and a month of ramen dinners, but we all felt just fine, even the cat was chill and curious more than anything, prices were fair, no services were pushed. Dr Kang was very thorough, generous with his time, and helped my itchy pup with yucky ears more than any other vet has EVER, and we've seen many, and spent MUCH with temporary relief at best, sometimes even hurting my pup. Doc can come across a bit brash when he's really just being emphatic. He's trying to be clear because y'all aren't as smart as you think. I think people who have complained about that here are hypersensitive and unfamiliar with cultural differences. Great vet.
