We cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible care and support we’ve received from Coal Creek Animal Hospital. Our journey with our dog, Rowan, has been anything but easy. She has struggled with severe anxiety and a history of serious medical issues, including a life-threatening case of pneumonia in March 2024 that nearly took her from us at only two years old. Before finding Coal Creek, we had difficulty navigating her care—some clinics dismissed our concerns, and we felt unheard and frustrated. But in April 2024, when we attended a high-anxiety session at Coal Creek, everything changed. The moment we walked in (after 45 minutes of coaxing Rowan to even enter), we were met with kindness, patience, and an entirely different approach to animal care. Dr. Ami and Ashley introduced us to cooperative care techniques, giving us tools to help Rowan feel safe and in control of her medical experiences. With their guidance, we committed to a structured plan, starting with twice-monthly visits in May 2024. Slowly, with patience, training, and the team’s unwavering support, Rowan made remarkable progress: August 2024 – She received her first vaccine at Coal Creek (an oral vaccine). October 2024 – She was able to receive two more vaccines via shots. January 2025 – For the first time, she consented to a blood draw. The transformation in Rowan’s life, and in ours, has been nothing short of remarkable. When we first got Rowan, she was so reactive she couldn’t even go outside due to her high anxiety. Now, we can take her on walks, play games, and bring her to the vet for care that she willingly participates in. Beyond the exceptional care, the clinic itself is designed with animals in mind. The large windows that let in natural light, and soft-colored walls create a calming environment that makes a difference for anxious pets like Rowan. Every detail of the space is intentional, reinforcing that this is a place where animals’ well-being comes first. Coal Creek isn’t just a veterinary clinic—it’s a place where animals and their families are truly understood and supported. Their thoughtful approach, from the clinic’s calming environment to their focus on fear-free, cooperative care, sets them apart in ways that words can’t fully capture. Coal Creek Animal Hospital takes such great care of our 14-year-old dog, Gracie. They recently performed her dental procedure, and while I was nervous, I knew she was in the best hands. Dr. Ami and the entire team are amazing—they take the time to truly listen and get to know your dog. They've been so creative in helping manage Gracie’s arthritis, working closely with her physical therapist to ensure she's getting the best possible results. We’re so grateful for their compassionate and attentive care. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful business! The staff is super friendly, extremely thorough, and take their time with all appointments. They explain things very well, and even write a follow-up email to detail what was discussed during the visit! What a great extra step that is totally not necessary, but truly provides ideal care for their patients. We previously had two other dogs that had passed away from cancer. One of the dog's cancer could have been identified and addressed before it was too late, if the other office had been as thorough as these guys, which obviously is extremely discouraging and leaves you with a sense of distrust. I'm excited I found a fabulous office for my new puppy, and I feel confident that he will receive the best of care. Thank you!

I feel Very fortunate to have found such a great team. Dr. Ami, Rhonda and Madison got my dog in on a last minute appointment as a new patient. This Vet clinic reminds me of the one i went to growing up. The owner was schoolmates with my parents. Its wonderful seeing locally owned smaller practices. (Not as common as you'd think these days)They are caring, considerate and great communicators. Another followup visit was unexpectedly needed before the scheduled date, and they quickly made room in their busy schedule yet again. Thank you guys so much for the help and accommodation. The woman at the front desk does a wonderful job. She makes you feel like she is in your corner. After striking out getting my dog in anywhere else she was perceptive to my situation, made it happen and called me back. Anybody would be lucky to be a client here. Support local business

If we could give them 10 stars, we would! Coal Creek is an A+ veterinary practice, and we’ve been blown away by the care our kitties have received since our very first visit. After moving to Thornton four years ago, we tried three different local vets—each one was subpar at best. It always felt like the focus was on the money rather than the care. Twice, we were even told we were nearing the end with one of our cats—and yet, here we are years later with happy, mostly healthy kiddos! Then we found Coal Creek! The team at Coal Creek is exceptional. Erika is always warm and helpful when answering the phone and quick to respond to emails. Ami and Ashley are wonderful with the cats—we love how they accommodate them in their carriers and even sit on the floor with them - it's so sweet! The entire staff is incredibly organized, handling everything from managing visit schedules to coordinating with CSU for specialized testing for our kitties with cancer. We’re so grateful for the care and dedication you provide and will continue to trust you with our pets and refer you to other people who want top-notch veterinary care. My pets and I have been seeing Dr. Ashley and Dr. Ami for about 10 years now (followed from their previous practice). They are both so experienced and I trust them both immensely. They have a fantastic team throughout the clinic as well. Rhonda and Erika are phenomenal and do a great job with pet parents as well as pets. I always feel listened to and respected and I highly recommend their practice!
