Welcome to Chaikin Ronald DVM
For pet owners in Brooklyn, New York, Chaikin Ronald DVM, located at 9518 Avenue L, offers veterinary services within the "Pet Hospital" category. Customer reviews present a polarized view of the practice. One long-term client of 26 years expresses immense trust and admiration for Dr. Chaikin, highlighting his gentle approach during their dog's surgery and his passionate dedication to animals, having cared for their numerous pets over the years. This reviewer also praises the amazing staff and strongly recommends Dr. Chaikin as a very experienced veterinarian with over 30 years in his own private clinic. In stark contrast, another customer reports a significantly negative experience with the grooming services, stating that their cat smelled like dog vomit after multiple appointments. This reviewer suspects the use of unsanitary practices, such as a single old rag being used on all groomed animals and potentially for cleaning up bodily fluids. This introduction will delve into the likely environment, the range of services offered (noting the discrepancy in experiences), the key features highlighted in the reviews, and any potential insights based on these contrasting testimonials.
The environment of Chaikin Ronald DVM in Brooklyn is difficult to fully assess due to the conflicting reviews. The long-term client's positive feedback suggests a caring and established practice, potentially with a comfortable and familiar atmosphere for long-time patients. The mention of Dr. Chaikin's private clinic operating for over 30 years implies a stable and perhaps traditional veterinary setting. However, the negative review concerning the grooming services paints a picture of potential hygiene issues within that specific area of the practice. The alleged use of a single, possibly contaminated rag for grooming and cleaning raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and sanitation protocols within the clinic, at least in the grooming section. This discrepancy suggests that different areas or services within the hospital might have varying standards of care and cleanliness.
The services offered at Chaikin Ronald DVM appear to include both medical and grooming care for pets. The positive review mentions surgery performed by Dr. Chaikin, indicating that surgical procedures are part of their services. The long-term client also refers to Dr. Chaikin "taking care of my pets" for various needs over many years, suggesting a comprehensive range of general veterinary services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, treatment for illnesses, and possibly more specialized care given his extensive experience. The negative review specifically mentions using the clinic for cat grooming multiple times, confirming that grooming is offered as a service. However, the reported unsanitary practices associated with the grooming raise serious questions about the quality and safety of this particular service. The stark contrast in experiences suggests that while the medical care provided by Dr. Chaikin may be highly regarded by some, the grooming services may suffer from significant hygiene problems.
Several key features emerge from the customer feedback, both positive and negative. Dr. Chaikin's extensive experience (over 30 years in his own clinic) and his gentle approach during surgery are significant positive features, fostering trust and loyalty in long-term clients. His passion for animals is also highlighted as a positive attribute. The amazing staff, as mentioned by the satisfied client, likely contributes to a positive overall experience for some. However, a major negative feature is the alleged unsanitary practices in the grooming services, specifically the potential use of a contaminated rag, which poses a serious hygiene risk to the animals being groomed. This discrepancy in quality between medical and grooming services is a critical point of concern. The long-standing presence of the clinic in the community might suggest stability and established relationships with some clients, but the hygiene concerns could deter new or existing clients from using the grooming services.
The customer experiences shared present a stark contrast. The long-term client's unwavering loyalty and praise for Dr. Chaikin's skill and compassion speak to the positive aspects of the medical care provided. This established trust over many years suggests a veterinarian who is dedicated to his patients. However, the negative experience with the grooming services, detailing a recurring issue of a cat smelling like dog vomit and the suspicion of unsanitary practices, is a serious red flag. This suggests a potential lack of oversight or training in the grooming department regarding hygiene protocols. The fact that a customer returned multiple times despite this issue (due to proximity) indicates a strong need for convenient grooming options in the area but also highlights a persistent problem that was not addressed. The polarized nature of these reviews makes it difficult to form a definitive overall impression without more information, but the hygiene concerns regarding grooming are significant and should be a point of serious consideration for potential clients.
The provided reviews do not mention any specific promotional offers or loyalty programs at Chaikin Ronald DVM. Given the contrasting feedback regarding the quality of different services, any potential promotions might be secondary to addressing the hygiene concerns in the grooming department. Veterinary practices sometimes offer discounts for new clients, package deals on routine services, or loyalty programs for long-term patients. However, in this case, it would be advisable for potential clients to inquire specifically about the hygiene practices in the grooming services and the protocols for cleaning and disinfecting equipment used on different animals. Ensuring the health and safety of pets should be the priority over any potential discounts or promotions.
In conclusion, Chaikin Ronald DVM in Brooklyn, New York, presents a complex picture as a "Pet Hospital." While Dr. Chaikin is praised for his experience, gentle surgical skills, and dedication to animals by a long-term client, serious concerns are raised by another customer regarding the hygiene practices in the grooming services. The alleged use of a contaminated rag poses a significant risk to the health and well-being of pets undergoing grooming. Potential clients should be aware of these contrasting experiences and may want to inquire specifically about the hygiene protocols, particularly if considering the grooming services. While the medical care provided by Dr. Chaikin may be highly regarded by some, the reported issues in grooming are a significant point of concern that warrants careful consideration.

Sep 10, 2023 · Judith ChinI took my cat here for grooming a few times because it’s close to home. Each time I ‘d pick up my cat, he’d smell like dog vomit!!! I think they use one old rag on all of the animals that are groomed there. And they also use the rag to wipe up vomit and probably any other excrement.
