Welcome to Central Park Veterinary Clinic

Central Park Veterinary Clinic, conveniently located at 252 NH-108, Somersworth, NH 03878, USA, has been a pillar of the community for over 50 years, providing high-quality, compassionate veterinary care to pets in Somersworth and the surrounding Tri-City region. Under the ownership of Drs. Carolyn and Matthew Robbins since 2006, and with the addition of Dr. Tasha Wilson, who joined as an associate veterinarian in 2009, the clinic prides itself on fostering long-lasting relationships with both pets and their families. This commitment to continuity and excellence is further solidified by their prestigious AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accreditation, a standard achieved by only about 15% of veterinary hospitals in the U.S., signifying adherence to the highest standards of veterinary care.

Environment and Atmosphere

Central Park Veterinary Clinic operates out of a new, larger, and more modern facility that they moved into in 2012, designed to provide an optimal environment for patient care. Clients consistently describe the clinic as a "very clean environment" and express being "very impressed" by it. The staff is frequently praised for their professionalism and caring approach, which extends even to pets with severe anxiety. Reviews highlight the clinic's patience and willingness to "find approaches that work" for anxious animals, demonstrating a commitment to minimizing stress during visits. The welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the efficiency of being called in "within minutes of appointment time," contributes to a positive and reassuring experience for pet owners. The overall impression is that of a professional yet warm and supportive setting where animal comfort and well-being are paramount.

Comprehensive Veterinary Services

Central Park Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary medical facility, offering a wide array of services designed to promote the health and longevity of companion animals. Their comprehensive approach covers everything from routine wellness to advanced medical procedures:

  • Wellness and Preventive Care: This is a core focus, including comprehensive physical examinations, vaccinations appropriate for each pet's lifestyle, health screenings, laboratory testing, and parasite prevention and control. They strongly recommend a thorough wellness program to ensure pets live happy, healthy lives.
  • Internal Medicine: The clinic provides care across all areas of internal medicine, addressing issues related to cardiology, ophthalmology, neurology, dermatology, gastroenterology, oncology, endocrinology, and more. This broad scope allows them to manage a wide range of complex medical conditions.
  • Dental Care: They offer complete dental services, including oral health evaluations, modern and safe ultrasonic scaling to clean teeth above and below the gum line, polishing, and oral surgery with tooth extractions when necessary. They also educate pet owners on effective at-home dental care.
  • Surgical Procedures: Central Park Veterinary Clinic performs a variety of surgical procedures, such as ovariohysterectomies (spays), castrations (neuters), laceration and wound management, tumor removal, gastrointestinal surgery, and ophthalmic procedures. They also have access to multiple regional referral hospitals for highly specialized surgical needs, ensuring comprehensive surgical solutions.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Equipped with advanced digital radiography (X-rays) and ultrasound technology. Digital X-rays provide high-quality images for rapid analysis, with all radiographs reviewed by a board-certified radiologist. Ultrasound painlessly examines internal organs, particularly abdominal organs, and is available for pregnancy exams. Referrals to board-certified cardiologists for heart evaluations via ultrasound are also available.
  • Pain Management: Recognizing that "veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do," the clinic is dedicated to recognizing and alleviating pain in animals, considering it an essential aspect of good patient care.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Trained staff are available to help pet owners choose appropriate, high-quality, balanced diets for their pets, recommending reputable brands like Hill's, Royal Canin, Purina Pro Plan, Iams, and Eukanuba. They also carry Hill's Prescription Diets for pets with special nutritional needs and offer online ordering for convenience.
  • Behavioral Concerns: They assist with behavior issues ranging from basic housetraining and manners, offering general advice, and recommending local trainers.
  • End-of-Life Care: The clinic provides compassionate options for end-of-life care, including euthanasia, supporting pet owners through difficult decisions.
Distinguishing Features and Client Focus

Central Park Veterinary Clinic distinguishes itself through several key features that resonate strongly with its clientele:

  • AAHA Accreditation: This significant accreditation is a testament to their unwavering commitment to the highest standards of veterinary excellence across various aspects of their practice, from facility cleanliness to patient care protocols and surgical standards.
  • Compassionate and Knowledgeable Team: Clients consistently praise the "compassion, knowledge, and friendliness" of the entire staff, from technicians to doctors. Dr. Robbins, specifically, is lauded for being "excellent," "informative, professional, and knowledgeable." This collective empathy is particularly evident when guiding owners through challenging diagnoses or decisions, making hard conversations easier.
  • Patient-Centered Care, Especially for Anxious Pets: Their dedication to making pets comfortable is a standout feature. They actively work to "minimize patient stress," and for highly anxious pets, they take the time to find effective approaches, even recommending anti-anxiety medications prior to visits if needed. This patient-first philosophy creates a significantly better experience for pets and owners alike.
  • Reasonable Pricing and Accessibility: Unlike some other veterinary clinics, Central Park Veterinary Clinic is noted for its "reasonable prices" and "available appointments," making high-quality care more accessible to a broader range of pet owners. This stands in contrast to common complaints about other vets being "super overpriced" and "always booked."
  • Emphasis on Education: The team goes beyond treatment by educating pet owners on home care, such as brushing teeth or administering fluids, empowering clients to be active participants in their pet's health journey.
  • Experienced and Dedicated Staff: With over 50 years of history in the community and a stable, experienced team of doctors, clients feel confident that their pets are in capable and caring hands.

We made the switch here about a year ago from another vet that was always booked, super over priced and didn’t give us the time of day. I have to say that this vet is the best I’ve experienced. They have reasonable prices, available appointments, and a caring approach. One of our dogs has extreme vet anxiety. They are so patient with her and have taken the time to find approaches that work for her. Highly recommend!

I would rate higher if I could! Veterinarian Matthew Robbins goes above and beyond for his pet patients. I appreciate his willingness to accommodate getting my dog in for an urgent care visit and following up the same day with an appropriate treatment plan for my dogs particular needs. Thank you to CPVC for all their help today.

Central Park Veterinary Clinic is the absolute best!!! Dr.Matt Robbins and his wife, Dr. Robbins, along with Dr. Brench and staff, have provide such wonderful compassionate care to our two beautiful Cocker Spaniels. Our older dog, Toffee, was prone to ear and skin infections as Cockers often are, and they helped us develop a preventative, proactive strategy to manage these infections which proved to be quite effective. Our younger, dog Oakley, who was also a Cocker Spaniel was quite well, until she wasn't. Late stage kidney disease presented out of nowhere and they carried us through this until she passed. Dr. Matt Robbins came to our home and helped us through her passing -we could not have asked for greater care. After 16o years of care, we absolutely recommend this practice; they are NOT about $$$, but rather about the care of your animal. We plan to visit soon with our new pups, as there is no greater care in the seacoast! Five stars all around!!
