Welcome to Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic
Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic, situated at 1412 S Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74112, USA, is a deeply rooted institution within the "Pet Hospital" category, providing exceptional veterinary care to the Tulsa community and its surrounding areas since 1969. This long-standing presence speaks volumes about their commitment to animal health and their ability to build lasting relationships with pet owners. They offer a full spectrum of services designed to cater to the diverse health needs of companion animals, operating with a philosophy that emphasizes treating "each animal as if it were one of our own."
The environment at Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic is characterized by a dedication to creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere for both pets and their human companions. While specific details about the interior décor aren't extensively publicized, a clinic with such a long history and positive reputation would undoubtedly prioritize cleanliness, safety, and a comforting ambiance. Pet hospitals typically aim to minimize stress for animals, which often includes quiet waiting areas, gentle handling by staff, and efficient processes to reduce wait times. The clinic's convenient location on South Harvard Avenue makes it easily accessible for local residents, further cementing its role as a community-oriented veterinary facility. Their operational hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (closed Sundays), provide consistent availability for routine appointments and emergent needs during business hours.
Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic provides a comprehensive array of veterinary services, aligning with the expectations of a full-service "Pet Hospital." Their offerings are designed to cover all stages of a pet's life, from preventive care for young animals to specialized treatments for senior pets. Key services provided by Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic include:
- General Medicine: This forms the cornerstone of their practice, encompassing routine physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment of various illnesses, management of chronic conditions, and general health consultations.
- Preventative Care: Emphasizing wellness, the clinic offers tailored vaccination programs, internal and external parasite prevention (including heartworm, flea, and tick control), and nutritional counseling to maintain optimal pet health and prevent diseases. Annual wellness exams are strongly recommended to detect problems early and establish baseline health parameters.
- Full-Service In-House Laboratory: A crucial diagnostic tool, their in-house lab allows for rapid and accurate blood work (e.g., complete blood counts, chemistry panels), urinalysis, fecal examinations, and cytology. This capability is vital for timely diagnoses and effective treatment planning.
- Dental Services: Beyond basic cleanings, Cedarwood provides comprehensive dental care, which typically includes professional dental scaling and polishing under anesthesia, full-mouth dental X-rays to identify hidden issues below the gum line, and extractions of diseased or damaged teeth.
- Surgery: The clinic is equipped to perform a wide range of surgical procedures. This includes common elective surgeries like spays and neuters, as well as more complex soft tissue surgeries (e.g., tumor removal, foreign body removal, wound repair), and potentially certain orthopedic procedures, given the expertise of their veterinarians. Their surgical rooms are noted to be state-of-the-art and fully sanitized after each use, ensuring patient safety.
- Ultrasound: This non-invasive diagnostic imaging tool is used to visualize internal organs in real-time, aiding in the diagnosis of abdominal conditions, cardiac issues, and for pregnancy evaluations, providing valuable insights into a pet's health.
- Boarding Services: For pet owners needing a secure and supervised environment for their pets during travel or other absences, Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic offers boarding facilities. Their boarding area is described as clean, secure, and fun, with staff trained to handle pets and administer any necessary medical routines.
- Emergency Care: While primarily a general practice, the clinic is equipped to handle urgent medical situations during their operating hours, providing immediate care for sick or injured pets. For after-hours emergencies, they would likely refer clients to a dedicated 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital.
The distinguishing features of Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic, as highlighted by client testimonials and their long history, are deeply rooted in the quality of their staff, their compassionate approach, and their comprehensive service offerings. Key features include:
- Exceptional and Dedicated Veterinary Team: The reviews consistently praise Dr. Robert Poteet as "amazing," "dedicated," and "caring," highlighting the high standard of medical expertise combined with genuine compassion. The entire staff is also described as "wonderful," "very professional and nice," and "second to none," indicating a cohesive team committed to excellent patient and client care. The clinic also has other experienced veterinarians like Dr. Bill Gooldy and Dr. Wendy Sales, contributing to a broad base of knowledge and skill.
- Compassionate and Empathetic Approach: The sentiment "I've never met a more dedicated and caring vet before" underscores the clinic's patient-centered philosophy. This level of empathy is crucial, especially when dealing with sick or elderly pets, and it fosters a strong sense of trust and comfort for pet owners. The commitment to treating "each animal as if it were one of our own" reinforces this caring ethos.
- Comprehensive In-House Capabilities: The ability to perform a wide range of services, including full-service lab work, advanced dental procedures, and various surgeries, all within their facility, provides convenience and ensures continuity of care. This reduces the need for external referrals for many common and complex conditions.
- Long-Standing Community Trust: Having served the Tulsa community since 1969, Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic has built a strong reputation based on years of reliable and high-quality service. This longevity is a testament to their consistent performance and positive client relationships.
- Commitment to Animal Welfare: Their enrollment in the AVMF Veterinary Care Charitable Fund® demonstrates their dedication to helping lost, neglected, and abused animals, as well as supporting pet owners facing financial hardships. This showcases a broader commitment to animal welfare beyond their daily practice.
Regarding promotional information, Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic leverages various strategies typical for a well-established "Pet Hospital." While general "new client specials" aren't explicitly detailed, their online presence and established practices suggest the following promotional activities:
- Online Presence and Information: Their official website (cedarwoodveterinary.com) serves as a primary source of information, detailing their services, team members, hours, and contact information. This allows potential clients to research and understand their offerings.
- Client Testimonials: The positive reviews, like those provided, serve as powerful organic promotion, building trust and credibility through word-of-mouth and online reputation management.
- Wellness and Preventative Care Emphasis: Promoting the importance of annual wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite prevention is a key promotional strategy, encouraging proactive pet health management.
- Charitable Fund Participation: Highlighting their involvement in the AVMF Veterinary Care Charitable Fund® promotes their commitment to community and animal welfare, which can attract clients who value such contributions.
- Transparency in Care Options: While not a direct promotion, being "upfront" and "transparent" (as noted in reviews for similar clinics) about treatment plans and costs fosters trust, which indirectly promotes their services. They also accept financing solutions like CareCredit, making care more accessible.
- Special Promotions (as found online): Some sources indicate specific promotions like "Nail Trim: 50% OFF With an exam, qualifying pets will receive a nail trim for 50% off!" and "Senior Thursdays: 10% OFF On Thursdays, all human seniors qualify for 10% off their visit! This offer excludes food and medication." These targeted promotions aim to attract specific client segments and encourage routine care.
For the most current information on services, to schedule an appointment, or to inquire about any specific promotions, pet owners are encouraged to directly contact Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic at (918) 749-6588 or +1 918-749-6588. Jan 13, 2025 · Eleanor StewartThank you Dr Poteet and staff for your wonderful service and dedication to our animal family members!
Mar 17, 2025 · J HinchMy little dog, Achilles was dumped at Woodward Park. A regular client of Cedarwood Vet Clinic offered to pay for the surgeries Achilles needed if I decided to keep him in the event that no one claimed him. No one did & he's living with me now. He had a hernia & needed to be neutered, which happened almost 2 months ago now. The vet was very very kind & sent us away with lots of goodies. I am deeply thankful for all. Achilles is indeed a "rascal". He was mistreated & at some point knew the fear of not being fed or knowing when he'd find food himself next. He is still a scared, scavenging little man. My big cats have had to go stay with my son so they may have freedom of movement & live in peace for a bit & Achilles & I have much work to do. I miss snuggling my cats & sometimes I'm not sure why I felt so strongly about helping him. But I do. He's very snuggly & smart & sweet when he's not trying to act like the biggest, dog on the block!

Jan 31, 2018 · Jenny KaminskiI love Dr Poteet. My second time, but he readily knew my little Angela. We put her to zzzz, I held her and loved her to sleep. Renal failure. She was in great, caring hands.
