Dr. Meghan was very thorough and detailed with Theo and brought him back to the treatment area for socialization…..this helps him with his comfort level at the vet. No need for muzzles the vet techs and veterinarian were excellent, took their time with Theo and we had a very positive experience. I highly recommend!

Welcome to Cayuga Veterinary Services
Cayuga Veterinary Services, situated at 1538 Clark Street Rd, Auburn, NY 13021, USA, stands as a distinguished pet hospital dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care to the Auburn community and the broader eastern Finger Lakes area. With a history of caring for pets since 1976, this clinic prides itself on offering a distinctive collection of veterinary care combined with a high-class client experience. Their core mission revolves around personalizing each pet's wellness plan to enhance their health, happiness, and overall quality of life, fostering a partnership approach with pet owners to ensure the highest quality veterinary healthcare available.
The environment at Cayuga Veterinary Services is designed with both the physical and emotional well-being of pets in mind. They are notable for being an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited veterinary hospital, a prestigious recognition that signifies adherence to the highest standards of veterinary excellence. Furthermore, they are a certified Cat Friendly Practice through the American Association of Feline Practitioners, indicating their commitment to creating a less stressful and more comfortable experience specifically for feline patients. A significant feature contributing to their positive environment is their team's universal Fear Free certification. This means all staff members are trained to recognize and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets, transforming vet visits into more positive experiences. Clients have noted this, with one review highlighting how "Dr. Meghan was very thorough and detailed with Theo and brought him back to the treatment area for socialization…..this helps him with his comfort level at the vet. No need for muzzles the vet techs and veterinarian were excellent, took their time with Theo and we had a very positive experience. I highly recommend!" This dedication to comfort suggests a facility that is not only medically equipped but also emotionally considerate, potentially featuring separate entrances for dogs and cats/exotics, calming pheromone diffusers, and quiet waiting areas.
Cayuga Veterinary Services offers an extensive array of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of companion animals, including common household pets like dogs and cats, as well as a variety of exotic animals such as birds, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, sugar gliders, rodents (rats, hamsters, gerbils), and reptiles (snakes, frogs/toads, bearded dragons, chameleons, geckos, iguanas). Their comprehensive service offerings include:
-
General Wellness and Preventative Care: This includes annual wellness exams to evaluate overall health and detect problems early, customized vaccination protocols to protect against harmful diseases, parasite control programs (fleas, ticks, heartworms) for year-round protection, and expert advice on diet and nutrition to combat disease and maintain healthy weight.
-
Dental Services: Recognizing the critical link between oral health and overall well-being, they provide annual dental exams and cleanings, including ultrasonic scaling and polishing, along with guidance on at-home dental care to prevent periodontal disease.
-
Diagnostic Services: Equipped with in-house laboratory services for rapid blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams, the clinic can quickly identify problems. They also offer advanced diagnostic imaging, including radiography (X-rays) for bone and organ assessment, diagnostic ultrasounds for evaluating heart conditions, internal organs, cysts, and tumors, and EKGs to measure and evaluate the electrical activity of the heart.
-
Surgical Services: Cayuga Veterinary Services provides a wide range of surgical options, from routine procedures like spay and neuter surgeries (which help pets live longer, healthier lives and control pet population) to various soft tissue surgeries for non-joint or bone-related medical reasons. They emphasize state-of-the-art technology and a professional surgical team, ensuring patient safety and effective recovery.
-
Holistic & Therapy Services: Demonstrating a progressive approach, they offer specialized therapies such as laser therapy (including cold laser therapy) for reducing pain, inflammation, and speeding healing without surgery or drugs, and acupuncture therapy, a pain-free method to treat conditions primarily dealing with inflammation and pain.
-
Pharmacy Services: The clinic boasts a fully stocked on-site pet pharmacy, ensuring pets receive the latest prescription medications promptly. Their staff thoroughly discusses medications, including potential side effects, and can demonstrate effective administration methods. They also carry prescription and specialty diets. For convenience, they offer an online pharmacy that ships directly to the client's door.
-
Microchipping: As a vital service for pet safety, they offer microchip identification, the most reliable way to reunite lost pets with their owners.
-
Allergy Testing and Treatment: Understanding that allergies can significantly impact a pet's comfort, they provide proper testing and treatment to relieve irritating symptoms.
A prominent feature of Cayuga Veterinary Services is its team's commitment to high standards and patient comfort. The AAHA accreditation is a testament to their dedication to quality, as it involves a rigorous evaluation of over 900 standards in areas such as patient care, diagnostics, pharmacy, and facility management. Their Cat Friendly Practice designation further showcases their specialized understanding of feline behavior and needs. The Fear Free certification across all staff members is a unique selling proposition, actively working to reduce stress during visits, which benefits both anxious pets and their owners. One review, while acknowledging the staff's kindness, pointed out an area for improvement regarding flexibility in staffing or hours for long-term clients, recommending them more for those with flexible schedules and living close by. This feedback, while critical in one aspect, implicitly reinforces the quality of care received during the appointment itself, as the client still recommends them under certain conditions. The positive experiences, such as with "Dr. Meghan" and Theo, highlight the personalized and patient approach taken by the veterinary team, demonstrating their ability to handle sensitive animals with care and expertise.
While specific daily or seasonal promotional offers are not widely advertised, Cayuga Veterinary Services implements several ongoing practices that benefit clients and serve as promotional elements:
-
New Client Acceptance: They are actively accepting new clients and can accommodate multi-pet families by coordinating visits, making it easy for new members of the community to access their services.
-
Veterinary Care Foundation: A significant promotional and charitable feature is their creation of a charitable fund through the Veterinary Care Foundation. This fund offers grants to clients who need financial assistance to provide lifesaving care for their pets. This initiative demonstrates a deep commitment to animal welfare beyond standard medical services, providing a safety net for pets whose owners might otherwise face difficult financial decisions.
-
Convenient Payment Options: They accept various forms of payment, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash, checks, and CareCredit, aiming to simplify the financial process of getting veterinary care.
-
Online Pharmacy: The availability of an online pharmacy that ships directly to the client's door adds a layer of convenience, enhancing accessibility to medications and specialized diets.
-
Extensive Pet Care Resources: Their website provides a wealth of educational resources on pet wellness, nutrition, illness care, and cat-friendly information, empowering pet owners with knowledge and demonstrating their commitment to client education.

May 16, 2025 · Julia YurcoThe staff are always kind, but on this occasion there were several items that should have been discussed with me prior to my appointment that weren’t. They also refuse to consider attempting any flexibility in their staffing or hours to accommodate long-term clients. I recommend them to anyone who has a flexible schedule and lives less than 15 minutes from their office. Otherwise? Look closer to home.
May 16, 2025 · theladyeternalExcellent care for my fur babies! Kind staff, top notch veterinarians, and the best quality of care around. This place will love your pet almost as much as you do!
Apr 05, 2025 · Ana PhillipsThe only doctor we ever trusted at this vet was doctor Megan. But my review is about something else. I recently rescued a dog who was a patient at this vet. I had called with the previous owner a few months ago for her chart to state that ANYONE calling in regards to her could talk to them since she was in need of a new home. Today they tell me it was a note only for rescue organizations to call even though that is NOT how the conversation went when we called. I didn’t know at the time WHO was going to take her so my directive was for ANYONE to be able to. This dog is on a specific medication that she has NOT been receiving. I need information on that and that alone! Yet the rude receptionist would not budge. These are not humans we are talking about. I am not looking to get any other info than what I already know to be the case!!! Absolutely ridiculous and just another reason why we stopped coming to this vet. The rudeness is out of this world. We are talking about a dog who has been neglected and shoved in a garage yet one of the only people you can talk to is the person who was responsible for it!!?? Makes sense. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: This dog was being neglected and abused by the owners caretaker. I had called WITH the owner to give permission to ANYONE who needed it therefore your reply makes no sense and you’re just trying to cover up that you failed this dog. She’s in good hands WITH ME now and will never step foot inside your building again.
Mar 15, 2025 · Emily MacNaughtonI can’t recommend them enough! They care about their patients and call to check in after a visit. One of the vets refers to my dogs as “Kids” and I love it 🥰 that was when I knew that she understood how much I love them lol But seriously amazing care, great vet techs, responsive and helpful vets that actually listen to concerns and think it through. They care about the dogs safety and comfort which I’m sooooo thankful for. I’m so grateful to have such an excellent clinic near by for my babies!
