Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital Introduce
Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital, located at 1940 Silas Deane Hwy, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, USA, is a highly specialized "Pet Hospital" with a distinctive focus: it provides veterinary care exclusively for cats. Founded by Dr. DuPont in 1990, this clinic was established with the pioneering idea of creating a dedicated medical and surgical facility solely for felines, recognizing their unique needs compared to other small animals. This specialization ensures that every aspect of the clinic's operations is tailored to the specific physiology, behavior, and comfort of cats.
The environment at Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital is designed from the ground up to be cat-friendly. The absence of dogs eliminates a significant source of stress for many feline patients, contributing to a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere. The clinic prides itself on being a "full-service feline hospital," which means it is equipped with modern facilities to support comprehensive feline care. These typically include:
- Dedicated Examination Rooms: Spaces designed to minimize stress for cats, often with features that allow cats to hide or perch.
- In-House Laboratory: A fully equipped laboratory for rapid and accurate diagnostic testing, crucial for timely treatment decisions.
- State-of-the-Art Digital Imaging: Utilizing advanced technology for X-rays and potentially ultrasound, vital for diagnosing internal conditions.
- Surgical Facilities: Equipped for various feline surgical procedures.
- Hospitalization Area: Designed for cats requiring overnight stays or close observation, with a focus on quiet and comfortable environments.
- Boarding Facilities: Separate areas for cat boarding, aiming to provide a stress-free stay.
The overall ambiance is geared towards making both cats and their human companions comfortable and informed about feline healthcare. The clinic's mission emphasizes its role as "cat experts" who concentrate solely on specialized feline health care.
Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital provides a wide array of services, all customized for feline patients. These services generally cover both preventative care and advanced medical treatment, reflecting their comprehensive approach as a full-service cat hospital:
- Wellness Care: Including routine examinations, vaccinations (e.g., rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia), and preventative health assessments. They offer specialized programs like a "Well Kitten Program" with a 20% discount on services during a kitten's first year, and a "Geriatric Wellness program" for thorough screening of older cats.
- Hospitalization: Providing in-patient care for cats requiring continuous monitoring or intensive treatment. Owners are welcome to visit their cats during their stay.
- Surgical Services: Performing various surgical procedures tailored to feline needs.
- Dentistry: Comprehensive dental care for cats, including cleanings and extractions, which is crucial for feline health.
- Acupuncture: Offering alternative therapies such as acupuncture, indicating a holistic approach to feline well-being.
- Boarding: Dedicated boarding services for cats, providing a safe and comfortable environment when owners are away.
- Grooming: Specialized grooming services designed for cats.
- Feline Diets and Supplies: Providing advice and access to cat-specific diets and health-related supplies.
- Emergency Care: While not a 24/7 emergency facility, they handle emergency situations during their operational hours (Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM, Saturday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM).
Their focus on feline-only care allows for a deep understanding of cat-specific diseases, behaviors, and appropriate treatment protocols.
The defining feature of Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital is its absolute specialization in feline medicine. This "cats only" approach ensures that veterinarians and staff possess in-depth knowledge of feline behavior, physiology, and common health issues. This allows for tailored treatment plans and a more nuanced understanding of a cat's needs, often resulting in less stressful vet visits for the animals.
Their mission statement emphasizes being "cat experts" who solely concentrate on specialized feline health care. They also acknowledge that "all of our feline patients have at least 6 legs in that they are attached to a loving human companion," highlighting their commitment to making pet owners "comfortable as well as informed about the health care of your feline friend." This client-centric philosophy, combined with their specialized medical knowledge, aims to build strong, trusting relationships with pet owners.
The clinic's long history, having been founded in 1990 by Dr. DuPont with the foresight to create a cat-exclusive facility, speaks to their enduring commitment to feline welfare and their pioneering role in this specialized field. They strive to be at the forefront of feline medical care, utilizing "most up to date" methods with their equipped laboratory and digital imaging.
Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital promotes its specialized services by emphasizing its "cats only" environment and the expertise of its staff in feline care. They offer specific programs like the "Well Kitten Program" and "Geriatric Wellness program" to encourage comprehensive care at different life stages. Information about their services and philosophy is available on their website and through platforms like PetsApp and GeniusVets, which list their hours and mission.
The community perception of Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital, as gathered from customer reviews, presents a mixed picture. One positive review highlights the clinic's personable nature and excellent care for a cat, noting alignment on care philosophy with the pet owner. This suggests that for some clients, the clinic successfully provides compassionate and understanding service.
However, another detailed review expresses significant dissatisfaction, particularly concerning the clinic's policy of separating cats from their owners during examinations. This customer reported their cats being "very upset" and crying, perceiving this policy as highly distressing for their pets. The review also mentions unrequested nail clipping, which further contributed to a negative experience. The customer's strong statement of "I will never return" and "Worst experience at a Vet that I have ever had by far" underscores the profound impact of this policy on certain pet owners, especially those whose cats are anxious or accustomed to their owner's presence during exams. The suggestion to "drug" the cats for future visits due to their distress also raised concerns for this individual.
This stark contrast in reviews indicates that while the clinic may offer competent medical care, its handling policies, particularly the separation of pets from owners during exams, can be a point of significant contention and distress for some clients. Prospective pet owners considering Catzablanca Cat Clinic & Hospital should weigh the benefits of a feline-exclusive environment against these specific procedural aspects and assess if they align with their comfort levels and their cat's temperament.

Mar 14, 2025 · Lea HustedDo not come here if you expect to be in the room with your cat while they are examined. Apparently their policy is to take the cat away from you. This was my first time here with my own cats one 7 and one 8 years old, and I will never return. My cats were very upset. They clipped my cat's nails without asking permission and my cats have never had their nails clipped. I was not charged for it but I did not want it. My cats have never needed drugs for an exam because I was always there to soothe them but since both my cats were so upset they suggested my cats be drugged next time. There will not be a next time. I was very surprised when I was brought into an exam room and they took my cats away. When I saw my 8 year old's nails last night I understood all his crying in the exam room. Since my old vet would never have separated me from my cats I did not really understand what was going on. Worst experience at a Vet that I have ever had by far.
Mar 20, 2025 · Annette WillisI took my cat to Catzablanca today to try and get a professional opinion on a lump I found in my cats armpit, I absolutely adore and treasure my cat I wanted to make sure he was okay and it wasn’t anything scary. So I made an appointment to get it checked out. My old roommate used to take his cat here so I figured it would be a decent spot since a lot of local vets near me weren’t accepting new patients. The visit started off fine with the first person, who was taking all of our information and details about my cat. She then took my cat to the back room to see the dr.. Then the Dr. came back and informed me that they won’t do anything without first giving him his rabies vaccine and cutting his nails. Also that they had tried to take him out and examine him and he wasn’t having it and they couldn’t handle his 11 pound self, so they wanted to sedate him. I was hesitant but I gave her the go ahead because I wanted what I came there for, answers on the lump. She came back after an hour and told me she’d just sedated him and they’re waiting for him to fall asleep and that she has not done an evaluation because he wasn’t letting her touch him at all. She told me the only way to know what the lump is, is to test it. I said “oh, I was hoping you could first before poking with a needle, tell me what you believe it could be based off your professional experience.” She said “no we don’t take guesses here, we take tests” I came to the realization I wouldn’t get an answer if I didn’t pay for the test. So I said okay, I would like an estimate first please before we go ahead with the plan. I was brought an estimate for $1,135.50 For examination, sedative, needle aspirate (this is what I was told is for the test to extract and test the lump it was $119) vaccines, X-rays $89 & $99 , feline triple for $62, injections, total health plus for $295 (they told me they highly recommend for all their patients) and additional medication… ALL THIS WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE LUMP. Clearly money hungry. Oh and did I mention they wanted a signature at the bottom? I was mind blown I came here to get a lump looked at…. At this point my fiancé and I are realizing what’s going on this place is a failing business and they are going to do everything they can to take all our money if we let them. So we told them we will not sign this estimate it makes no sense why without looking at the lump you’d be predicting that we need all these extra treatment expenses. We told them to go forward with the test ($119 according to the estimate) the vaccine the sedative and the nail trim. Nearing the end we were told we’re just waiting for him to wake up, so I go to pay. Tell me why now they were telling me my total is $643 the test was $119 to get the sample but an additional $350 to have it tested… that’s not what they originally said. They didn’t write that anywhere on the lengthy estimate they gave us. We got our cat back after 3 hours and 25 minutes, and after paying nearly $650 for everything we get him out to the car, and look at him and he is foaming/salivating at the mouth terribly. I run back in to see if it’s normal and they told me to bring him back in, so I do, they take him from me to the back room, and come back without him, they told me he’s okay he will be right out…? Okay? 10 minutes later they bring him out and tell me they gave him a nausea medicine…. What?! I was then forced to pay more for that medicine before taking him home still overly salivating, drooling for hours and very very clearly still overly drugged up. Now after being home, spending hours crying feeling so guilty for putting my cat through this, who was a completely healthy cat and handsome and my normal loving boy, I look a little closer at his claws… and they completely hacked them up. It looks like their trimmers are dull and didn’t cut through the claw all the way, so they ripped it the rest of the way off. I feel so awful for subjecting my cat to this. A “professional” “cat specialist” who can’t even cut cats nail or give medical advice. Don’t bring your cat here.
Aug 01, 2024 · Kelsey KillaI cannot say enough good things about the staff at Catzablanca. I had to bring my new kitten in for an emergency visit and they were incredibly kind, understanding, and helpful. Cindy went above and beyond to put my mind at ease and help my little guy! So fortunate to have found a place that truly cares about my cat.
Oct 05, 2024 · Colleen FI love my interactions with Cindy! I adopted a 15 year old who just turned 17. She is very precious to me. I am “Happy” (her name) with the care she receives.
