As a veterinary hospital focused solely on cats, the environment at Cats Preferred Veterinary Hospital is likely designed to be as comfortable and stress-free as possible for feline patients. This might include a quieter waiting area, cat-specific examination rooms, and specialized equipment tailored for cats.
The services offered would primarily cater to the health needs of cats. This typically includes routine wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, surgery, and potentially behavioral consultations specific to felines. Being a cat-only practice suggests a deeper understanding of feline-specific health issues and behaviors.
A key feature of Cats Preferred Veterinary Hospital is their specialization in cats. This focus can be a significant benefit for cat owners seeking veterinarians with specific expertise in feline medicine and handling. One positive review highlights the staff's knowledge, gentleness, patience, and genuine compassion for cats, with the owner expressing years of satisfaction with their care.
However, another recent review presents a contrasting experience. This cat owner described an encounter where their typically grumpy but not aggressive cat was deemed "too stressed" for a routine vaccination and was held down for an extended period. The reviewer expressed concern over the recommendation to drug their cat for future visits and felt the clinic did not understand typical feline behavior, leading them to seek care elsewhere for their multiple cats.
Information regarding specific promotional offers or new client discounts is not available in these reviews. Given the specialized nature of their practice, it is best to contact them directly to inquire about any such offers.
In conclusion, Cats Preferred Veterinary Hospital in Plymouth, MN, offers a specialized "Pet Hospital" environment focused on feline veterinary care. While one customer praises their compassionate and knowledgeable staff, another reports concerns about their handling of a stressed cat and their approach to routine procedures. Potential clients should consider these differing experiences and contact the hospital directly to understand their practices and determine if they are the right fit for their cat's needs.

Jan 11, 2025 · Lindsey King10 out of 10, would not recommend. If i could give 0 stars, I would. Took my cat here yesterday. My cat is 10 years old, and she's a grumpy gus, always has been, always will be. That's just her nature, and I love her for all that she is, even her grumpy parts. Although she's grumpy, she's a happy, loving and well loved cat. I would know, I've had her since she was 8 weeks old. Yesterday was my second visit at Cats Preferred with her. Her first time there to get a wellness check, she was grumpy and stressed as any cat would be who doesn't like car rides, vets, or being poked and held. She hissed and growled, no problem and got her vaccines. Took her for her vaccines yesterday, she was her usual grumpy self. Did not want to be there, hissed and growled, as she normally does. The vet said she was too "stressed" and to come back a different time after she is drugged....mind you, she didn't bite, and was held down by a vet tech for 10 minutes, when she doesn't like to be held or held down (I don't know any animal that wants to be held down by a human) all while this "vet" explained her reasoning behind why she thinks my cat is "too stressed" to have a vaccine. They didn't put her back in her carrier, they held her down on a table. I drove 25 minutes with a cat that does NOT like to go outside, does not like car rides, doesnt like to be held, and doesnt like vets.... LIKE MOST CATS, for absolutely nothing. Unless you have a perfect little angel cat with no personality except rainbows and butterflies, who enjoys car rides, being outside, going to new places, and being poked, held, held down and getting shots, I would not recommend them at all. They will simply waste your time, stress your cat out and persuade you to drug your cat at your expense and your cats, so they are "happy" to come in. If my cat had to go to the vet more than once a year, I could see considering reducing stress levels with a holistic approach, or worst case, medication. But we have never had a need to go to the vet more than her annual wellness exam. And I don't see a need for an immediate jump to medication, in an elderly cat. I thought being a cats only vet, they would understand no two cats are alike. They have different personalities, quirks, likes and dislikes. Instead, I've been met with a vet that seems to operate only for dollar signs, ease and medication. We currently have three cats, and will be taking all of them elsewhere; to a place with vets that actually understand cats.
Mar 18, 2025 · Lucy CastnerI have been going to this clinic for 25 years with 4 cats. I have seen almost all the doctors and they have always been kind and caring even in difficult times. I appreciate that they only see cats and feel very confident in the care my kitties receive. I highly recommend this clinic and am so grateful to have them in my neighborhood.
Jan 15, 2025 · Karen PruntyI have brought my cats here for years and wouldn’t trust any other vet. They are so kind, patient, knowledgeable, and most importantly treat your kitty like their own! They are up front with costs and don’t suggest unnecessary testing for their own benefits. I love that they have an option for evening appointments one day a week and are open Saturday mornings. Any time I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed with a sick kitty, they have been so helpful in calming me with honesty and compassion. Everyone there, from the receptionist to the vet techs to the vets, are wonderful people. It can be a very overwhelming feeling when you have a sick pet, and they do everything they can to make the experience easier on you AND your fur baby! I highly recommend Cats Preferred!
Apr 27, 2024 · Lindsey KingI've been taking my cat to Cats Preferred for over 10 years now. They've always been so sweet to her and really take their time every appointment and are always willing to talk through any questions I have. When she was about 10 years old, my cat was acting strange and we worked with the vet to get some tests done and found out she has diabetes. The vet and the techs have been so helpful with teaching me how to care for her and they made what seemed like a daunting dianosis so manageable. They've gone above and beyond, even faxing a prescription of insulin to another pharmacy while we were traveling. They are upfront about pricing and are willing to walk you through potential costs ahead of time so you don't get a surprise bill. I want to say extra thank you to Trisha for answering endless questions and Dr. Sassen who first walked me through the diabetes diagnosis. Everyone I've worked with at Cats Preferred has been outstanding. Highly recommend.
