I have used Carmichael Road Animal Clinic for years and have had multiple dogs treated there. The staff is always very kind and caring. I have also had several elderly dogs put down over the years and this clinic understands the concept of "closure." They always allowed me to be in the room during the process so my babies could know I was there and I could say my final goodbyes. This means a lot to anyone who considers their animals as part of the family. I recommend CRAC to anyone.

I was impressed at first with Carmichael Animal clinic but then I have experience a lost that made me to rethink my impression.   I took Trap my dog to them on May 16th to have an exam and he was given all of his vaccines and a throughly exam.  This was a cost of $542.67. I have later found out he wasn't given an x-ray after talking to the lady veterinarian.  Next, I  went back to them on May 20th to get pain medicine for his paw which was an old injury which cost $31.20.  Finally   they wanted me to bring him back on June 8th to get a second dose of flu vaccine at a cost of $50.50.  I called Carmichael Animal Clinic on June 21st explaining that Trap was pooping and when he's asleep it would just run out.  One of the individual suggested that I try chicken and rice soup because that normally help.  I was told to try that and if it persist to take him to the emergency room.  All of this came about because I did have  to take my dog to the emergency room and he was terribly sick when we arrive.  One of the receptionist could tell he was sick so she came and took him straight to the back while I filled out the paperwork. After speaking with the Vet on duty he didn't give me much hope because it appeared that Trap had prostate cancer and his stroden was heavily enlarged.  I asked him about the cough and he explained it could have spread into his chest. So I  had to make a decision to take him home and let him continue to strugle or put him at rest so I  chose rest because  he was fifteen years old and I didn't want him to suffer. I asked the Vet at carmichael about his cough and their answer was we never heard him cough.  I have since spoken with the lady Vet at Carmichael Animal clinic and I explained this ordeal but nothing she said was registering to me.  If you gave him a full exam how come you miss something as deadly as cancer.  How could all of his test results come back clean. All of this was done in a month time. You are the professional why didn't you asked me about x-rays.  Atleast I would have known what it was instead of not knowing.  I know he probably couldn't be save I'm just saying if you had just taken that extra step then I could have been more prepared.  I'm hurt, disappointed and angry because I relied on sound advice from a professional and it wasn't given to me.

I would give them a -1000 stars if I could. If you love your pet do not leave them here. I left my dog with them for 5 days while I went on vacation. I spoke with the groomer to have him cleaned & groomed before we picked him up. The day after I dropped him off I received a call stating that he had an ear infection & that I would have to pay an additional $50.00 for meds. We love our Golden Doodle so we did not complain. Then later that day the groomer, HANNAH called to say that he would need to be cut a little shorter because he had some matted hair. My husband instructed her not to cut him too short. We NEVER noticed any matted hair; he is brushed regularly and he had just been cleaned & groomed 6 weeks prior. When I picked my beloved Diesel up this is how he looked. She tortured & butchered him. The other pictures were taken the day that he was dropped off. She said she did this because of extreme matting & she has pics to prove it. I never saw any pics. When I went to complain and ask for my money back Dr. Bennifield said he has nothing to do with the groomer and called the police on me. Thank God for great police officers; I think her name was officer O’Leary. She understood the situation & handled it professionally.

I've been to the Carmichael Pet Clinic three times, first appointment went fairly well. I told the doctor what i wanted as far as vaccinations & a examination. I told the doctor I didn't want the flu shot ,so I didn't get it. I Took my dog back the second time it went well .,he got his second set of puppy shots no examination and a examination WAS NOT even brought up.The thrid time is when they PISSED me off. I called to moved Cooper's doctor's appointment up to a earlier time that day because I wanted him to have a bath. The nurse offered for him to be dropped off because I was at work ( Bath was priced at $45 ) I sent my son to drop Cooper off at the Clinic and my son explained to the staff what he needed them to do & i sent a picture of the shot list that the Doctor gave me on Cooper's 1st visit, which they should already know what shots he needed & plus his bath. I go to pick Cooper up and I hv a $272 bill. When I was only expecting to pay around $130 at the most. They had gave him his shots & bath @ $52 (not $45) that I asked for ,plus all these things I didn't ask for and without calling to see if I wanted that done or if I had the funds to pay for all that to be done! NO I DID NOT WANT A FLU SHOT!! I TOLD THEM THAT ON HIS 1ST VISIT! NO I DIDN'T WANT HIM TO HV ANOTHER EXAMINATION! But the Carmichael Pet Clinic gave it to him anyway .Saying that he have to get a examination every time he came for his shots. He DID NOT get an examination when he went to get his 2nd set of shots and he DIDN'T get a flu shot then either. I felt like they took matters into there own hands without talking to me first. And when Ashley the staff member offered to drop Cooper off she DID NOT tell me he would have needed to have the flu shot to be dropped off (my son could have stayed) I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO CARMICHAEL PET CLINIC ON PERRY HILL RD IN MONTGOMERY AL & Cooper WILL NOT BE RETURNING THERE.Because I feel like because I wasn't there they just did what they wanted to do and they should have told me up front that the flu shot was a must for him to be dropped off. P.S IF I DIDN'T WANT THE FLU SHOT THE FIRST & SECONDS TIME COOPER VISITED, I DIDN'T WANT IT THE 3RD TIME EITHER!!! ESPECIALLY IF THE STAFF DIDN'T NOTIFY ME IN ADVANCE

Absolutely love Dr. Westbrook! My boys are always taken care of when I board them and they always send convenient reminders on the appointments I forget about! Very patient staff and professional. Always feel comfortable with taking my babies there!
