We found ourselves at Carlsbad Animal Hospital when our senior cat was showing symptoms of a UTI. We are a military family who just moved to the area, so we didn’t have an established vet yet. Our cat, Cali, was showing symptoms on a Friday night, and I came across this facility after a quick google search for “vets open on weekends” and they were the first ones on the list. They were still open even at 6pm, and I was able to get an appointment booked the very next morning! That was the easiest experience I ever had when looking for a new vet quickly. I am so happy I stumbled upon this facility. The vet we saw was Dr. McCallick, and she was very attentive to our concerns regarding Cali’s symptoms. She unfortunately found a mass in her bladder during the exam, and let us know that it was possibly bladder cancer. Over the next 3 weeks, she ran tests and did a course of antibiotics to try to rule out any infections that could cause a mass. She was always very transparent with the processes and procedures to get a diagnosis. We NEVER felt like we were being charged for unnecessary tests/treatments, and she was always very mindful of the costs involved, making sure we could afford everything that needed to be done, and offering alternatives if something was too expensive for us. In the end, it was sadly determined that our Cali had bladder cancer. I cried to her as I explained that we could not afford to do any surgery/chemo/radiation, and expressed my concerns about my cat being in pain any longer. She reassured me multiple times that euthanasia was a valid and humane option in this situation, and never made me feel guilty for considering that. When making the appointment to do the euthanasia, we were only available to come in on the day she primarily does surgeries. Dr. McCallick was kind enough to find the time to squeeze us in, so she could be the vet that was present for the procedure. Being able to have the same vet follow us from the beginning to the very end was so special to us. On the day of the procedure, I began to feel guilty about making the decision to end my cat’s life, and felt uncertain that I was making the right decision. Right before the procedure began, she asked if we were ready, and I used that moment to ask her one more time if I was doing the right thing for Cali. I saw her get tears in her eyes as she reassured us one last time. Seeing the emotion she had made it clear how much she cares about her patients and their families. Although our first experience with this facility was very sad, the overall quality of the staff and their work made the situation easier. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in, every question was answered, every concern was heard, and best of all they treated Cali with the utmost care and respect. We might not be able to be forever customers due to the military, but we WILL remain loyal to this facility for as long as we’re stationed here. Thank you Dr. McCallick, and the rest of the team, for helping Cali across the rainbow bridge. We will forever be grateful for the love and support you showed our family!

We are so very happy to have the loving care for our kitty "Salem" provided by the awesome team at Carlsbad Animal Care. Over the past 12 years we have been taking Salem for his vaccinations as well as other issues that have come up along the way. The obvious love shown by the staff for all animals is so important and makes the overall atmosphere welcoming to all family members. Thank You so much especially Dr Goode who is a truly devoted friend to the patients she treats!

I took my 8 year old Persian cat Mogi in with swelling of the leg. He had been seen the week before at another vet and that appointment was very rushed with little explaining so I opted for a 2nd opinion. I’m so glad I came to Carlsbad Animal Hospital. The staff was super friendly and even though I had to change my kittys appointment 2x they accommodated me and Dr. McCallick was wonderful!!! She took all the time I needed explaining things and they treated my cat very well. She went above and beyond with trying to help within my budget and I am really appreciative to Dr. McCallick, Nicole and the rest of the whole staff!! I am awaiting my cats test results but no matter what I know he’ll be in great hands with them as our new animal hospital!

If anyone is looking for an honest, and compassionate veterinary office, Carlsbad Animal Hospital is the place for you! I have been coming here on and off for the past year now for a reoccurring issue with my dog. Dr. Andrea is one their amazing veterinarians at the practice. I highly recommend him and the practice to anyone looking for a veterinary office that will treat your fur baby like one of their own. All of the staff that works there are so sweet and caring. From the moment you walk in the front door to when you check out and leave. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. 1000 stars 🌟 Thank you for being there for my dog when she needed y'all the most!
