I stumbled upon this place today As my regular vet was to busy to see my cat for an emergency visit. And we are actually glad it happened. They were able to squeeze my boy in this afternoon. The vet tech was amazing DR Roos explained everything. Made a very scary stressful time a lot calmer quickly. They took great care of my boy. Thank you Canterbury tails I will definitely be back with my other cat and dog Best part besides great treatment was a bill that was way less then my previous vet would of charged.

The professionalism and kindness of the staff, including "the vet tech" and "Dr. Roos," are frequently praised. Clients express gratitude for the staff's ability to "explain everything" thoroughly and make them feel at ease. The personal touch, where the team "took great care of my boy" and treats animals "well," suggests a clinic where every patient is treated with respect and gentle handling. This nurturing environment is crucial for anxious pets and helps owners feel confident and supported in their pet's care journey. The positive experience, even during emergencies, emphasizes their commitment to a supportive and low-stress atmosphere.

As a comprehensive "Pet Hospital," Canterbury Tails Veterinary Clinic offers a wide spectrum of veterinary services designed to meet the diverse health needs of dogs and cats. While specific details on every service are not exhaustively listed in the provided snippets, the reviews imply a full-service general practice with significant capabilities:

  • Emergency and Urgent Care: A standout service, as evidenced by a client being "able to squeeze my boy in this afternoon" for an emergency visit when their regular vet was too busy. This highlights their responsiveness and commitment to critical situations.
  • Comprehensive Wellness and Preventive Care: This would include routine physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols (like the "booster shot" mentioned for Diesel), and recommendations for parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal worms).
  • Diagnostics: While not explicitly detailed, the ability to diagnose and treat emergencies, and the mention of understanding a pet's condition, implies access to fundamental diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory services (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and possibly digital radiography (X-rays) to assess internal conditions.
  • Medical Consultations and Treatment: Addressing various illnesses and conditions, from acute issues to managing chronic health problems. Dr. Roos's ability to "explain everything" suggests a thorough approach to treatment planning.
  • Soft Tissue Surgery: Most general practices of this nature perform common surgical procedures like spaying and neutering, as well as minor soft tissue surgeries.
  • Dental Care: While not specifically mentioned, dental health is a crucial component of overall pet wellness and is typically offered by full-service veterinary clinics.
  • Client Education: Dr. Roos's detailed explanations are a key feature, empowering pet owners with knowledge about their pet's health and treatment options. This commitment to transparency and education helps clients make informed decisions.
  • Budget-Friendly Care: This is a distinctive feature, with clients expressing surprise at the "very fairly priced" services and a bill that was "way less then my previous vet would of charged." This suggests a commitment to making quality veterinary care accessible without compromising on treatment.

The core features that distinguish Canterbury Tails Veterinary Clinic are its exceptional compassion, responsiveness to emergencies, and its remarkable affordability without sacrificing quality. The ability to "squeeze in" emergency cases quickly provides immense relief to pet owners during stressful times. Dr. Roos is highly praised for her clear explanations and calm demeanor, making frightening situations manageable. The entire staff's kindness and attentiveness are recurring themes in positive feedback. Perhaps the most compelling feature is the clinic's commitment to fair pricing. In an era where veterinary costs can be a significant concern for many families, Canterbury Tails Veterinary Clinic stands out for offering "very fairly priced" services, demonstrating that high-quality care does not necessarily have to come with an exorbitant price tag. This dedication to affordability, combined with stellar patient care, makes them a valuable resource for pet owners, especially those on a "tight budget" or with rescue animals needing attention. The clinic's ability to instill trust and provide peace of mind during stressful situations while also being mindful of financial constraints positions them as a truly community-focused "Pet Hospital."

While specific promotional information is not overtly detailed in the provided reviews, the clinic's pricing strategy itself acts as a significant "promotion." Common promotional activities that Canterbury Tails Veterinary Clinic might employ, either directly or indirectly, include:

  • Affordable Pricing Model: The consistent feedback about their lower-than-expected costs is a powerful draw and a continuous "promotion" that attracts budget-conscious pet owners.
  • New Client Welcome: While not explicitly stated, many clinics offer a discounted initial exam for new patients to encourage them to experience the clinic's atmosphere and service.
  • Vaccination Clinics or Packages: Offering bundled vaccination packages at a reduced rate or specific days for walk-in vaccinations to streamline essential preventive care.
  • Transparency in Billing: The surprise at the lower bill suggests they might have a very clear and fair pricing structure that avoids hidden fees, which acts as a positive "promotion" by building trust.
  • Referral Program: Satisfied customers, like the one who stated, "I will definitely be back with my other cat and dog," are the best form of referral, and some clinics formalize this with incentives for both the referrer and the new client.
  • Online Presence and Reviews: Leveraging their positive online reviews and maintaining an informative website or social media presence would naturally attract new clients seeking reliable and affordable pet care.

Canterbury Tales is awesome. I'm on a tight budget. I have a rescue pity. And as a first-time customer and Diesel needing some attention I thought it would be in the hundreds I was so surprised very fairly priced. The staff is awesome. Diesel needed a booster shot. It's really nice how well they treat your animal.

i was not previously a client here, but they were able to squeeze me in to have a same day sick appointment for my pet mouse Maria. all the staff were incredibly nice and professional, and when i walked into the building it was extremely clean. they asked me thorough questions about my pet's information and living conditions. i unfortunately had to make the decision to euthanize my mouse, and the vet here gave me reasonable options and spoke from expertise, but let me make the decision myself with no pressure added. when i came back to the building, the staff were very comforting and made the process as easy as they could. despite them being busy, they were able to give me a private room for a while to say goodbye. they explained how the procedure would work, they sedated her and gave her back to me so she would fall asleep in my hands and have that be the last thing she remembered, and then they took her back to euthanize her. the staff were so comforting through the whole process and gave me tissues. i opted to take her remains home to hopefully give her other mouse friends some closure, and i wasn't expecting how nicely they handled her remains. they gave her to me wrapped in a cloth in a bag with her name on it. they also collected a few pieces of her hair to put in a tiny jar and took her paw prints for me without me asking them. i am so incredibly grateful for the staff here and what they've done for me they are really amazing. THANK YOU!!馃┓

Took my puppy here for his first vet visit. My first time being a client here. Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable staff who were great with my pup. Adorable but well -abled hospital and the Dr. Is charming as well. I'm excited to continue our visits and feel we have found a wonderful vet for our new fur baby.

My wife called and made an appointment for October 17 at 2pm. I called ten minutes before the appointment to let them know my car wasn't starting, and I would miss the appointment. The lady who answered the phone seemed new, stumbled over her words, and started giggling - whatever no biggie. It was clear she was new, because I could hear her repeating my questions to someone else. I was told I would be charged a $45 dollar no show fee, which I understand. Anyways, I asked about getting an appointment later that day when my wife would be home with her car. Their vet was leaving at 3 that day and they had no appointments the following day but suggested I try the belchertown office. I asked if my $45 deposit would transfer to the belchertown office, and i was told unfortunately it wouldn't. Again, I understand they had time reserved for us, and I am willing to eat the money for the no show. So, we went to a different vet on Friday. Fast forward to the following Monday and we get a call that we missed a second appointment for 3:30! We never made an appointment for that time, already went to another vet, and we both work during that time frame. I called to discuss this with a manager and she said she specifically remembers talking to my wife on Thursday right before our originally scheduled appointment, and that my wife rescheduled for Monday. This flat out did not happen, and now they're trying to take more money from us. The manager I spoke to was very unprofessional and said she would send me her call log in a couple days and then hung up on me. I hope to hear back soon, because I also have my wife's call log, and she never called them.
