I got my cat, Sassy, unexpectedly last July (2024). Camillus was the first vet near me that could get her in. She had several bot flies and was treated the same day i got her! She was a baby so they also gave me some leftover kitten formula that they had on hand (I wasn't sure if i would keep her at this point) and prescribed antibiotics. I called for advice a few times because of her issues and I was treated very well and my questions were answered sufficiently. I think I went 3-4 times after for vaccines and another bot fly removal, then we were on our way. Dr. otto and the other staff were so kind and loved Sassy. I did go and get a free rabies shot, and I also went elsewhere for spay surgery due to the price but they had no issue in sending the records and were completely understanding. I am planning to continue Sassy's annual care here. Great team!!

Welcome to Camillus Animal Clinic, PC

Camillus Animal Clinic, PC, located at 31 W Genesee St, Camillus, NY 13031, USA, serves the local community as a Pet Hospital offering veterinary care services. Based on available customer reviews, experiences appear to be varied, with positive feedback regarding certain aspects of care contrasted by significant concerns about pricing and the overall quality of the facility and service.

One positive review highlights a situation where a newly acquired kitten, Sassy, received prompt attention and treatment for bot flies. The reviewer commended the clinic for being the first nearby option with immediate availability. Furthermore, the staff, particularly Dr. Otto, were described as kind and caring, showing affection for the kitten. The clinic also provided complimentary kitten formula and prescribed necessary antibiotics. The reviewer also noted positive experiences with follow-up visits for vaccinations and another bot fly removal, as well as satisfactory handling of phone inquiries for advice. The clinic facilitated the transfer of records for a spay surgery performed elsewhere without any issues and demonstrated understanding regarding the decision to seek a lower-priced option for that specific procedure. This customer expressed an intention to continue utilizing Camillus Animal Clinic for annual care, indicating a positive overall experience with the medical care and staff interactions.

In stark contrast, another review expresses significant dissatisfaction, primarily centered around the perceived high cost of services. This customer alleges that the prices have become "out of control" and labels them as "a crime and shameful." The reviewer cites an almost $1000 charge for yearly check-ups, shots, and flea/tick prevention for two dogs, deeming this exorbitant. This negative feedback extends beyond just the cost, with the reviewer stating that they cannot recommend the clinic, especially considering their perception of the facility's cleanliness and the quality of service. According to this review, the clinic has not been updated in approximately 20 years, and the service and care have reportedly declined over time. The reviewer suggests that even if the prices were high, they might be justifiable if the facility were cleaner and the staff were nicer, but in their experience, neither of these conditions is met.

Considering these contrasting viewpoints, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment of Camillus Animal Clinic. The positive review does not explicitly describe the facility's aesthetics or cleanliness, focusing instead on the positive interactions with the staff and the effectiveness of the treatment provided. Conversely, the negative review directly criticizes the lack of updates to the facility over two decades and implies issues with cleanliness. Therefore, based solely on these two reviews, there is conflicting information regarding the clinic's physical environment, with one customer suggesting a dated and potentially unclean facility.

Regarding the services offered at Camillus Animal Clinic, we can infer several types of care based on the experiences shared:

  • General Wellness Examinations: The mention of "yearly check ups" indicates that the clinic provides routine health assessments for pets.
  • Vaccinations: Both reviews mention the administration of vaccines as part of the services offered.
  • Parasite Prevention: The sale of flea and tick prevention products is noted in one of the reviews.
  • Treatment of Medical Conditions: The successful treatment of bot fly infestations in a kitten demonstrates the clinic's ability to address specific medical issues.
  • Prescription Medications: The dispensing of antibiotics for the kitten indicates the clinic can prescribe and provide necessary medications.
  • Kitten Care: The provision of leftover kitten formula suggests they offer care and support for young animals.
  • Rabies Vaccination: The clinic participated in a free rabies shot program, indicating their involvement in public health initiatives related to animal welfare.
  • Referral and Record Transfer: The willingness to send records to another clinic for a spay surgery shows cooperation and understanding of clients' choices.

Key features of Camillus Animal Clinic, PC, as perceived by the customers, present a mixed picture. On the positive side, the clinic appears to offer:

  • Prompt Availability: At least in one instance, the clinic could accommodate a new patient quickly.
  • Kind and Caring Staff: Dr. Otto and other staff members are described as compassionate and showing affection for the animals.
  • Effective Medical Treatment: The successful treatment of the kitten's bot fly issues and the provision of necessary medications suggest competent medical care.
  • Cooperative Record Handling: The clinic was willing to send medical records to another facility without any issues.
  • Participation in Community Programs: Involvement in a free rabies vaccination program indicates a commitment to broader animal health in the community.

However, significant negative features are also highlighted:

  • High Prices: One reviewer strongly criticizes the cost of services, labeling them as excessive.
  • Outdated Facility: Concerns are raised about the clinic's lack of updates over a long period.
  • Potential Decline in Service and Care: One customer believes the quality of service has deteriorated over time.
  • Cleanliness Concerns: The negative review implies issues with the cleanliness of the facility.

Currently, there is no information provided in the reviews regarding any specific promotional offers or discounts at Camillus Animal Clinic, PC. Potential local users would need to contact the clinic directly at (315) 672-3139 or +1 315-672-3139 to inquire about their current pricing for various services and whether any special offers are available. Given the significant concern raised about the cost of services, it would be prudent for pet owners to request a detailed quote for any anticipated treatments or procedures before proceeding.

In conclusion, Camillus Animal Clinic, PC, in Camillus, NY, appears to be a veterinary care provider that has elicited contrasting experiences from its customers. While some have appreciated the prompt service, kind staff, and effective medical care, significant concerns have been raised regarding the high cost of services, the outdated condition of the facility, and a perceived decline in the quality of care. Local users considering Camillus Animal Clinic for their pet's health needs should be aware of this mixed feedback. It may be beneficial to contact the clinic directly to discuss their current pricing, inquire about the facility, and potentially seek a second opinion or compare costs with other local Pet Hospitals to make an informed decision about their pet's care.

Ask for a quote before you enter this building..there prices have gotten out of control! I can’t believe what they charge, it’s a crime and shameful! Then to get square waved for two yearly check ups, shots, and flea tick for almost 1k! One thousand dollars for a yearly visit for two dogs? Cannot recommend, maybe if the place was cleaner and people nicer they could justify these costs but the place hasn’t been updated for 20 years and service and care has only gotten worse!

We love Dr. Tessa Green! She has been our vet for many years and recently came over to Camillus Animal Clinic. We have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Green and with the clinic. Would highly recommend her as your vet for all animals. She is thorough, caring and highly trusted.
