I have been coming here for six years actually closer to seven years with two dogs. I think people that leave poor reviews based on one experience are really being a bit unfair as our people that talk about price. I was married to a vet for six years and I am aware of the cost of insurance rising medical equipment, rising, and medication and supplies increasing and becoming more expensive. Burbank Veterinary Center has an outstanding staff in my opinion. They are very complete in their care and examination procedure. Over this last weekend I called them knowing that they were closed, but they had a referral phone number if needed fortunately, I did not need the number or the service of the emergency room. On Monday morning when they opened, I received a phone call stating that they saw that I had called when they were not in. They asked if there was anything they could do and was everything OK and I told them everything was fine, but thank you very much for the call which was not the expected. Enclosing, I think their prices are fair based on their large staff, which are always very busy. Their facilities where rents are extremely high and their attitude.

Based on available information, Burbank Veterinary Center has been serving pet owners for many years and has garnered both positive and critical feedback regarding its services. Understanding these perspectives can help local users make informed decisions about their pet's healthcare needs.

Environment and Facilities:

While specific details about the clinic's physical environment are limited in the provided reviews, one long-term customer mentions the "facilities where rents are extremely high," suggesting a physical location with the necessary infrastructure to operate as a veterinary hospital. This implies the presence of examination rooms, treatment areas, and potentially surgical suites and diagnostic equipment necessary for providing veterinary services. The mention of a "large staff" also indicates a facility capable of accommodating a team of veterinary professionals and support personnel.

Services Offered:

Burbank Veterinary Center appears to offer a range of veterinary services, as suggested by the mention of "complete in their care and examination procedure." This likely includes routine check-ups, vaccinations, diagnostics such as blood work, and treatment for various pet illnesses and injuries. The ability to provide prescriptions also indicates a full-service veterinary practice. The negative review mentions "necessary tests," implying diagnostic capabilities, and the discussion around prescriptions and over-the-counter medications suggests the availability of pharmaceutical services for pets.

The positive review highlights the proactive nature of the clinic, noting a follow-up call after a missed weekend call, indicating a commitment to patient well-being even outside of regular hours. This suggests a client-focused approach to service.

Features and Strengths:

One of the most consistently praised aspects of Burbank Veterinary Center is the expertise of "Dr. B," who is described as "phenomenal and the smartest vet around." This highlights the presence of highly skilled veterinary professionals at the clinic, which is a significant factor in providing quality care for pets. The longevity of some clients, with one mentioning 13+ years of patronage, also suggests a level of trust and satisfaction built over time, primarily attributed to the veterinarian's expertise.

The positive review also emphasizes the thoroughness of their care and examination procedures, indicating a commitment to a comprehensive approach to pet health. The clinic's follow-up call to a client who had called after hours demonstrates a level of care and attention that goes beyond basic service expectations.

Areas for Consideration:

While the veterinary expertise is a significant strength, some concerns have been raised regarding other aspects of the clinic's operations. One recurring issue is the perceived change in the front desk service, with one reviewer describing the staff member as "unbearable" and lacking in "human decency." This aspect of customer service can significantly impact the overall client experience.

Another point of concern is the alleged practice of "upselling" and the pricing of services and medications. The review suggests that clients may feel pressured to undergo unnecessary tests and that the prices, particularly for prescriptions, may be significantly higher than online alternatives. The accusation of mislabeling over-the-counter medications as prescriptions is a serious concern that warrants careful consideration.

Finally, delays in receiving test results have also been mentioned as a negative change. The reviewer notes a significant increase in the turnaround time for blood work results, which can be distressing for pet owners dealing with sick animals.

Promotional Information (Based on Available Data):

Currently, there is no explicit promotional information available in the provided text. However, the long-standing presence of Burbank Veterinary Center in the community and the positive testimonials regarding the veterinarian's expertise can be seen as implicit endorsements. Local users seeking experienced veterinary care may find Dr. B's reputation a compelling reason to consider this clinic.

The positive review mentioning the thoroughness of the examinations and the caring follow-up call could also be highlighted as a testament to their commitment to patient care. While not a specific promotion, these aspects can attract pet owners who prioritize comprehensive and attentive service.

Conclusion for Local Users:

Burbank Veterinary Center, operating as a Pet Hospital in Burbank, CA, offers veterinary services with a noted strength in the expertise of their veterinarian, Dr. B. Long-term clients have appreciated the thoroughness of care and the proactive communication from the clinic. However, potential clients should be aware of recent feedback regarding customer service at the front desk, concerns about potential upselling and pricing of services and medications, and reported delays in receiving test results.

Local users are advised to weigh the acknowledged expertise of the veterinary staff against the reported issues with administrative processes and pricing. It may be beneficial to discuss service costs and the necessity of recommended tests upfront and to inquire about the turnaround time for diagnostic results. For prescription medications, comparing prices with online pharmacies may also be a prudent step.

Ultimately, choosing a veterinary care provider is a significant decision for pet owners. Considering all available information, including both the positive and negative feedback, will help local users determine if Burbank Veterinary Center aligns with their individual needs and expectations for their pet's health care.

I'll start out by saying that I've been coming to this vet for at least 13+ years and they've seen 7 different dogs of mine but in that time they have seriously gone downhill. Pros: Dr. B is still phenomenal and the smartest vet around, which is the only reason l've stayed. Cons: Here are some of the changes l've noticed in the past 13+ years: 1)Ksenia or Kay (the front desk woman) used to be ok to deal with but she has become unbearable. She will talk down to you, disrespect you, tell you she needs to talk to Dr B, put you on hold for 5 seconds and then continue to deny anything you're asking for. She has really become too big for her britches and needs a class in human decency. 2) The upsell here has become insulting. They will recommend everything under the sun just to guilt you so they can make more money. The total of the necessary tests is probably like $700 but the initial invoice with all the suggested items will be $3,500 and their prices are always increasing. They will also lie to you and tell you something is a prescription and sell it to you for $150 with a prescription label on it and then you peel off the label to see it's over the counter and $30 on Amazon. Always be extremely cautious and never let them guilt you into anything. (Also, never buy prescriptions from them unless it's an emergency, they charge 5x the price of online pharmacies. 3) Sitting on test results when your dog is ill. They used to get blood work back the next day and call you that next evening to let you know what was going on with your pet. Now, they will sit on test results for a week even if you call and constantly ask for them. Not cool. Once again, love Dr. B but the rudeness of her office staff coupled with greed is ruining them.

Burbank Veterinary Center is the best! I love taking my dog here. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Dr. Burpee has so much patients with our dog. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Burpee and Team. I only wish I discovered this place sooner.

Dr. Burpee is AMAZING. We switched to Dr. B through the referral of a friend. Our previous vet had ZERO experience with pregnant dogs/litters. We had adopted our dog pregnant. We thought she had ticks, and our old vet told us we couldn't use any prevention on her because of her pregnancy. They offered us no solution to getting rid of them before the puppies came. When the puppies came, one of them was involved in an accident with mom, and instead of going to my old vet I went to Dr. B. She noticed something on the puppy, and took a look at it under the microscope. Guess what? THE DOGS HAD LICE! Our old vet didn't even bother to properly diagnose the problem! Dr. B had us use Frontline Plus on the mom (Which is OKAY for pregnant/nursing dogs. If we had just gone to Dr. B in the first place, we would've solved this problem before the puppies came. Now we were battling how to get rid of lice on 2 week old puppies!) Dr. B helped us find a solution to all of our problems regarding the puppies and mom. She is a saint. She also literally saved the lives of my litter. When my puppies fell sick, one of them suddenly passed away (maybe from choking on vomit, maybe from fluids in the lungs, we don't know). That night we hurried them off to ASG - where the emergency vet told us that if we didn't hospitalize our puppies, they would all die because she claimed they had distemper. The vet said we couldn't put them all on antibiotics, and we couldn't administer an IV at home. We called Dr. B's office right when they opened the next day, and they squeezed our puppies in first thing in the morning. Her staff taught me how to IV them, and she put them on antibiotics. Within a couple of days, all of their fevers were gone and they were eating and playing again. Dr. B had us do a test on two of them to be sure it wasn't distemper or parvo (both tested negative). Instead of just giving up on them like the emergency vet, she worked with us to test them and do everything we could to keep them alive and get them better. (Which they are now!) Dr. B even called me to check up on how the puppies were doing, which meant so much to us. She really cares, and when she doesn't have the answer to something, she researches and gets back to you. THIS IS HUGE! It's great to have a vet that says "I don't know, let me find out" versus one that says "I don't know" and offers no solutions. She is so patient, knowledgable, and helpful. Like the other reviews say, they are a little on the expensive side, but she works with you and has NEVER pressured us to spend money we don't have. They have even worked with us on our bills, because 6 puppies is expensive! They are definitely worth it. These gorgeous pups are here today thanks to Dr. B

I’m so mad. I’m so heartbroken. I won’t go into all of it but please choose another office. I really can’t imagine how difficult the jobs are of people who work in a vet office. I know they have their hands full of different personalities and they never know who could walk through the door. At the same time, this place could use a major lesson in bedside manner and how to speak to people like they’re real people. The main front desk associate is who I’m directly speaking about. This woman has definitely been through hell working this position but it might be time for someone who hasn’t been worn down. She needs a class in basic human interaction. My little senior girl had a heart murmur, which turned out to be cancer, however, I learned this at another office. It was something that could have been heard on a stethoscope during routine vitals. It wasn’t brought up. Rather than go over anything for my understanding, they gave me estimates for over 7k worth of work, and when I became hesitant and confused by the itemized bill, I was condescendingly told “ma’am you have an old dog and you need to care for her.” Who says that? Who says that without knowing someone financial or life position? I left that office a crying mess. I only ever came here due to the original good reviews and proximity to my home. The good reviews have obviously changed.. I regret ever coming here with my whole heart.
