God bless Dr. Burkard and the entire staff at Buffalo Feline Hospital for taking such good, gentle care of my sweet Simba until his time to cross the rainbow bridge arrived. I credit Dr. Burkard's experience, kindness, and support for extending the time he and I had together. Even amid her busy schedule, she went above and beyond for him to explain every test result, treatment plan, option, and much more. She is thorough and exceptionally qualified. The words thank you simply do not suffice to express my gratitude for her and the entire staff. The visible cleanliness of the facility and the provision of comforting touches, like treats during nail trims, further enhance the positive experience for both felines and their human companions.

Buffalo Feline Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, all specifically adapted for cats. As a full-service feline "Pet Hospital," their offerings include:

  • Feline Wellness Care: This is the cornerstone of their practice, encompassing routine physical examinations, preventative care, and tailored programs for kittens and adult cats. These check-ups are crucial for early detection of feline-specific diseases.

  • Vaccinations: Essential immunizations are provided to protect cats from common and serious infectious diseases, with protocols customized to each cat's lifestyle and risk factors.

  • Surgery: They perform a wide array of surgical procedures, including routine spays and neuters, and other soft tissue surgeries. They prioritize patient safety with pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV fluids, advanced anesthesia (Sevoflurane), continuous monitoring by licensed veterinary technicians (EKG, pulse oximeter, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory), and post-operative pain relief.

  • Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging: The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic tools such as Digital X-ray and Ultrasound, enabling accurate and timely diagnoses for various conditions. Their sister location, Green Acres Veterinary Center, also offers digital radiology for faster diagnoses.

  • In-House Laboratory Diagnostics: Having an in-house lab allows for quick processing of various tests, aiding in rapid diagnosis and initiation of treatment.

  • Dental Care: Comprehensive feline dental services are offered, including annual dental exams, cleanings, and treatment for periodontal disease, which is vital for a cat's overall health.

  • Laser Therapy & Surgery: They utilize MLS (Multiwave Locked System) Laser Therapy, a non-invasive, drug-free treatment to reduce pain and inflammation, and speed up wound healing. Laser surgery may also be offered as a less invasive surgical option.

  • Acupuncture: Available at their sister location, Wheatfield Animal Hospital, acupuncture is offered as a holistic therapy to treat pain, inflammation, and other conditions in cats.

  • Pain Management: A strong focus is placed on managing pain, particularly for chronic conditions like arthritis, ensuring cats have the best possible quality of life.

  • Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and management of a wide range of internal diseases specific to felines.

  • End-of-Life Care: They provide compassionate support and services for cats diagnosed with terminal conditions, life-threatening injuries, or age-related health deterioration, ensuring comfort during their final moments.

  • In-House Pharmacy: For client convenience, they maintain an in-house pharmacy for immediate access to prescribed medications and professional veterinary products.

  • Boarding: They offer safe and friendly boarding facilities, separate from hospitalized pets, providing various kennel sizes and attentive staff.

  • International Health Certificates: As highlighted by client testimonials, they go above and beyond to assist pet owners with the complex process of obtaining international health certificates for pet travel.

The distinguishing features of Buffalo Feline Hospital make it a premier choice for cat owners in the region:

  • Feline-Exclusive Environment: This is the most significant feature, ensuring a low-stress, bark-free environment that is uniquely tailored to the sensitive nature of cats. This specialization allows the staff to truly understand and cater to feline behaviors and needs.

  • Highly Experienced and Compassionate Veterinarians (Dr. Burkard): Dr. Burkard and the entire veterinary team are consistently praised for their extensive experience, kindness, thoroughness, and exceptional qualifications. Clients feel heard and understood, with detailed explanations provided for diagnoses and treatment options. The ability to correctly diagnose and treat conditions like arthritis, which other vets missed, speaks volumes about their feline-specific expertise.

  • AAHA Accreditation: As part of the Buffalo Veterinary Group, Buffalo Feline Hospital is likely AAHA accredited, signifying adherence to over 900 rigorous standards of veterinary excellence in areas like pain management, anesthesia, and facility cleanliness. This demonstrates a voluntary commitment to the highest quality of care.

  • Commitment to Client Education: The hospital excels in providing comprehensive information and literature to pet owners about their cat's conditions, lab results, and treatment plans. This empowers owners and fosters a strong partnership in their cat's care.

  • Above-and-Beyond Customer Service: Reviews highlight the "above and beyond" customer service, not just in medical care but also in administrative support, such as navigating the complexities of international health certificates.

  • Integrated Veterinary Group Resources: Being part of the Buffalo Veterinary Group allows them to share resources and expertise, such as digital radiology at Green Acres Veterinary Center or acupuncture at Wheatfield Animal Hospital, expanding the range of specialized care available to their feline patients.

For promotional information, Buffalo Feline Hospital leverages its exceptional reputation and positive client experiences. While they don't explicitly list specific "promotions" in the same way a retail store might, they offer consistent value and supportive programs:

  • Kitten Wellness Plans: They offer convenient packages for new kittens, including necessary wellness exams, vaccinations, and discounts on other services, making early preventative care more accessible.

  • Manufacturer Rebates: Their hospital pharmacy passes along manufacturers' promotions and rebates for medications and preventatives, often resulting in greater savings for clients compared to online or catalog purchases.

  • Accepting New Clients: They actively welcome new clients, encouraging individuals to book an appointment to experience their specialized feline care.

  • Online Pharmacy: For convenience, they provide an online pharmacy for clients to shop for medication and food.

Clients can contact Buffalo Feline Hospital at (716) 217-2287 or +1 716-217-2287 for appointments and inquiries. Their hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. They are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. For emergencies outside of these hours, they provide referrals to local 24-hour emergency veterinary facilities. The overwhelming sentiment from client reviews, praising Dr. Burkard and the entire staff for their experience, kindness, thoroughness, and genuine love for cats, serves as the most powerful and authentic promotion for Buffalo Feline Hospital, making it a highly recommended choice for feline owners in Amherst and beyond.

Everything is great at BFH. The office is so welcoming, clean and comfortable. Everyone is so friendly to me and gentle with my cat. They explained everything from medication to costs. His arthritis was actually acknowledged and now he's getting treatment. No other vet office has caught that with him even though I've brought it up before elsewhere. I was given so much literature to read about his conditions and given in depth lab results with explanations. Other places I've gone, I just get a bill receipt Here, I get all the information I need and want. I can ask questions and not be felt like they are dumb or unwelcome to ask! Dr. B is amazing! The techs are great! The front desk receptionist is so sweet and kind. Customer service is above and beyond as well as bedside manner with my kitty.. Kindness and in depth explanations about my cat's health were so appreciated. And the treats he got when he was getting his nails trimmed really helped him relax and feel loved and not scared. BFH is the best vet hospital I've ever taken my cat to in the nearly 18 years I've had my kitty. In just a few days I'm noticing my little guy is feeling better than he has in 8 months.

Dr. Burkard was wonderful! She offered alternatives to an initial estimate for our visit to diagnose our kitties issue and was able to get him scheduled quickly for surgery. She was kind and informative, we finally found our new vet!

Today we had to very unexpectedly put down our cat, Shooter. We had an extremely negative vet experience previously at another office, and were nervous to go back to any vet at all, but had no choice. When we noticed something not right with our girl, they got her right in within 4 hours of us calling. My cat was extremely aggressive with any humans that are not ‘in her human group’. We explained her needs and aggression and Dr. Burkard & Annie the tech were both so amazing. They catered to her anxiety needs and didn’t even flinch at her hissing or aggression. And when it was time to say goodbye they were so kind, explained everything so well, and made sure everything was settled before we said goodbye so that we could simply leave when we were all done. I am so grateful for Dr. Burkard and Annie for getting us in so short notice and treating our girl with such respect in her final moments when we had not felt that much support with previous vets.

Th staff and the doctor were very caring and compassionate. I never felt pressured regarding my cat's plan of care. In my experience, the prices are fairly comparable to that of other veterinary facilities in the area. Unfortunately I made the difficult decision to put my cat to sleep, but I was reassured that I was doing what was best for him. I will be bringing my other cat to Buffalo Feline Hospital in the very near future. The atmosphere is calm, warm and friendly.
