Dr. Ringle is the best vet I've ever had. She works me in if I have an emergency, and eases my worried mind. I'm so lucky that she is taking care of my dogs, and her kennel is so much better than my previous one. She's added years to my old dogs' lives. Who could ask for more?

Broadway Veterinary Clinic Introduce

Broadway Veterinary Clinic, situated at 1073 S Broadway in Lexington, KY, stands as a well-established and highly regarded "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care for dogs and cats. With a history spanning over 30 years, and under the proud ownership of Dr. Allison Ringle since 2013, the clinic has built a strong reputation for treating pets as cherished family members. The consistent positive feedback from long-term clients highlights the clinic's commitment to personalized attention, expert medical care, and a genuinely caring approach, especially when dealing with senior pets or emergencies.

Environment and Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Broadway Veterinary Clinic is consistently described by clients as welcoming and professional. While specific details about the interior design are not extensively detailed, the emphasis on staff kindness, attentiveness, and a "cozier and personal feel" (in comparison to larger, perhaps more corporate, clinics) suggests a comfortable and reassuring environment for pets and their owners. The clinic aims to create a low-stress environment where pets can feel at ease. Testimonials indicate that the staff are calm and gentle with animals, even those who are anxious, and that pets often respond positively, with some not exhibiting typical vet-visit anxiety. The clinic is set up to handle a diverse range of services, from routine check-ups to more complex medical and surgical cases, indicating a well-organized and efficient space. As a local business deeply integrated into the community, there is a sense of familiarity and trust that permeates the clinic's environment.

Services Offered

Broadway Veterinary Clinic functions as a full-service veterinary hospital, offering a wide array of medical, surgical, and wellness services for both canine and feline patients. Their comprehensive offerings include:

  • Wellness and Preventive Care: This is a cornerstone of their practice. Services include thorough wellness exams, tailored vaccination protocols for puppies, kittens, and adult pets (including Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, etc.), microchipping for permanent identification, and ongoing parasite prevention and control (fleas, ticks, heartworms, intestinal worms). They emphasize preventive care to detect issues early, prolonging pets' healthy lives, particularly for geriatric patients.
  • Medical Services and Diagnostics: For pets that are unwell, the clinic provides comprehensive diagnostic care to identify underlying issues. This includes in-house laboratory work (blood tests, urinalysis, intestinal parasite screening), digital radiography (X-rays), and fluid therapy. They are equipped to hospitalize sick pets and have isolation facilities for contagious cases, ensuring appropriate care and minimizing risk to other patients.
  • Surgical Procedures: Broadway Veterinary Clinic performs a range of surgeries, utilizing the latest and safest anesthesia protocols. Pre-anesthetic blood work is run to ensure pets are healthy enough for surgery. Common procedures include spaying and neutering, dental cleanings (with digital dental X-rays), and general soft tissue surgeries (e.g., abdominal surgeries, mass removals). They also handle emergency surgeries as needed.
  • Dental Care: Recognizing the prevalence and importance of dental health, they offer comprehensive dental cleanings to address gum disease, which affects a large percentage of pets.
  • Geriatric Care: A significant focus is placed on senior and geriatric pets, as highlighted by client reviews. They offer specialized geriatric exams and care plans to address the unique needs of aging animals, aiming to add "years to my old dogs' lives."
  • Specialty Services: Beyond medical care, the clinic offers practical services such as professional grooming and pet boarding. Their boarding services are particularly notable for providing "special needs boarding," meaning that elderly or pets with medical conditions can be boarded with a veterinarian on-site, ensuring they receive necessary care while their owners are away.
  • Pharmacy and Pet Supplies: The clinic maintains a fully stocked pharmacy for prescription medications and offers a range of pet supplies, including prescription diets and monthly preventatives, supporting local business and ensuring product quality.
  • After-Hours Emergency Referrals: While they handle emergencies during business hours and strive to "work clients in" for urgent situations, for after-hours emergencies, they provide referrals to dedicated emergency services like AA Small Animal Emergency Service (MedVet Lexington), ensuring continuous critical care for their patients.
Features and Distinguishing Qualities

Several key features define Broadway Veterinary Clinic's appeal and service philosophy:

  • Expertise with Senior and Geriatric Pets: The clinic excels in caring for older animals, implementing protocols and offering advice that genuinely improves their quality of life and longevity. This specialized attention is a huge comfort to owners of aging pets.
  • Comprehensive In-House Capabilities: From lab work and X-rays to various surgeries and hospitalization, the clinic offers a broad range of services on-site, providing convenience and continuity of care.
  • Knowledgeable and Consistent Staff: The longevity of staff members like Cheryl Eldridge (Office Manager/Vet Tech/Groomer Extraordinaire since 1989) and Dana Estep (Receptionist since 1991) creates a stable and familiar environment. This consistency fosters trust and allows for deep understanding of long-term patients.
  • Client Education and Communication: The staff are noted for thoroughly explaining next steps, cost options, and diagnostic findings, empowering pet owners to make informed decisions about their pet's care.
  • Special Needs Boarding: This is a unique and valuable service for pet owners with elderly or medically fragile animals, offering peace of mind when travel is necessary.

Dr. Ringle is the best! My sphynx cat, Cali, was almost a year old when started having symptoms. She was severely anemic and diagnosed with feline leukemia. She was very sick and we were unsure she would make it. I was heartbroken. Dr. Ringle was very compassionate and informative on her treatment options. After a long battle, Dr. Ringle was able to stabilize Cali with the right medications. Now 6 years later, I’m extremely grateful we chose Broadway Veterinary Clinic. We eventually moved to a different area and switched to a closer clinic to minimize Cali’s stress while traveling but she’s still healthy and living a happy life!! Many thanks, Cali, Yodi, and Marika

Dr. Ringle and her staff have helped us with our dog in his later years and compassionately through his passing, and now with our cat in his early years. They are great!
