I have taken 3 litters of puppies and my own personal dogs here. Most of the staff is friendly and deeply care for the animals that come in. Some staff you can tell definitely prefer animals over humans which I love for my fur babies but isn't the best for actual business. The veterinarians seem knowledgeable but I have never had to see them for any major illness or injury so I can only speak for annual visits and minor appointments.

Customer reviews highlight that "most of the staff is friendly and deeply care for the animals that come in." This immediately suggests a comforting and compassionate atmosphere that helps to alleviate the stress often associated with veterinary visits for both pets and their owners. One review even notes that "some staff you can tell definitely prefer animals over humans which I love for my fur babies," indicating a profound dedication to animal welfare that permeates the clinic's ethos. The overall impression is that of a clean, organized, and welcoming facility designed to facilitate effective veterinary care. Brigadoon Animal Hospital, operating as a full-service "Pet Hospital," provides a broad range of veterinary services to ensure the comprehensive health and wellness of pets. Based on the provided customer feedback, their offerings include, but are not limited to:
- Routine Wellness and Annual Visits: The reviews confirm their expertise in handling regular check-ups for "own personal dogs" and "annual visits," which typically include physical examinations, vaccinations, and parasite prevention.
- Puppy Care: Experience with "3 litters of puppies" suggests a strong capability in providing initial care for young animals, including first vaccinations, deworming, and general health assessments for new litters.
- Surgical Procedures: A significant highlight is their experience with a "9 month old Golden Retriever to get spayed." This indicates that they regularly perform common surgical procedures, likely including neutering and other soft tissue surgeries.
- Pre-operative and Post-operative Care: The detailed account of a "pre-op inspection" noting a "small medical concern" and requiring a "follow-on, specialized appointment" demonstrates a thorough approach to surgical preparation and patient safety. Their follow-up care is also implied by the positive recovery mentioned.
- Minor Medical Appointments: While not explicitly stated for major illnesses, the comment "I have never had to see them for any major illness or injury so I can only speak for annual visits and minor appointments" suggests they handle common minor ailments and injuries effectively.
- Diagnostic Services: Though not explicitly detailed, comprehensive pre-op inspections and the ability to identify "medical concerns" imply access to basic diagnostic tools like blood work or other preliminary tests.
As a general animal hospital, they would also typically offer services such as dental care, nutritional counseling, and potentially some emergency stabilization before referral to a specialized emergency clinic if needed, though this is not directly attested to in the reviews.

- Exceptional Communication: The "personalized updates on the progress and status of the pup, pictures included" during a surgical procedure is an exceptional feature. This level of transparency and empathy in communication significantly eases the anxiety of pet owners and builds immense trust.
- Proactive and Thorough Care: The identification of a "small medical concern" during a pre-op inspection and the subsequent follow-up, including a veterinarian coming in on her day off, demonstrates a highly proactive, thorough, and dedicated approach to patient care, ensuring all potential issues are addressed.

Feb 01, 2022 · KaileighWe bring both of our dogs to Brigadoon. Their staff is absolutely wonderful through and through. Most recently we had to bring our 9 month old Golden Retriever to get spade. The Vet Tech sent us personalized updates on the progress and status of the pup, pictures included. During the pre-op inspection a small medical concern was noted that required a follow-on, specialized appointment. The Vet came in on her day off to ensure everything went well and then fully explained what was being looked at and why. The bedside manner and professionalism of Brigadoon is amazing. The personalized feel lets you know that they understand how much everyone cares about their pets. We cannot recommend this Animal Hospital more if you are in the area!
Apr 02, 2020 · Jonathan Peter SchoepfThis was my first visit to Brigadoon. Everyone was very friendly and polite. They answered every question I had. The vet and vet tech were very good with my dog. They knew that she was starting to get anxious and a little untrustworthy so they did what they could to make her comfortable. It was a great experience from start to finish! Highly recommend! When I was in line to pay a couple came in with two Weiner dogs that barked and raised cane every time someone took a breath. And when they did the woman would yell at them to stop. If you have dogs like that then be courteous to everyone and sit in your car. Nobody wants to hear it. And it puts the other animals on edge. Just please sit in your car.
Aug 25, 2024 · Jeffrey CoonDr. Bailey has been amazing with my dog Bruce! She has explained everything very well to us for his care since he cut his foot and it got infected. He is well on his way to making a full recovery. All of the staff is so lovely and welcoming. I drive down from Jacksonville to come here because they are just great!
May 30, 2019 · Blythe WilsonHad to give Brigadoon a new shout-out! Thanks to the staff and especially Dr. Lisa Morton for taking exceptional care of our little Thor. We had a bad experience with Swansboro Animal Hospital (misdiagnosed him as having had a luxating patella) and only brought him there since Brigadoon wasn't open on Sunday. Long story short, Dr. Morton determined our little Chi had arthritis in addition to being sick. Prescribed medication and two weeks later, our 10-year old dog was acting like a puppy again. We've always trusted Brigadoon - 19 years now! Thanks again, Dr. Morton! 3 years ago: Great staff, great service and care. Been going to Brigadoon for 16 years now.
