Our Snowflake passed on Christmas Eve. Breton Bay was open and gave us a path forward. Children could say farewell and then we brought her back to pass peacefully. Even though this is common for them, our family was broken hearted. They made us feel as though we were unique. Can’t recommend enough!

Breton Veterinary Hospital Introduce

Welcome to Breton Veterinary Hospital, a pet hospital located at 22646 Cedar Ln Ct in Leonardtown, Maryland. As a provider within the "Pet Hospital" category, Breton Veterinary Hospital offers veterinary services to the local community, addressing the health and well-being of their animal companions. Based on the available customer reviews, the hospital is recognized for its compassionate care during sensitive times and the expertise of its veterinary staff, although one review raises a significant concern regarding their pet boarding arrangements.

While specific details about the hospital's physical environment are not extensively described, we can infer some aspects based on typical veterinary hospital layouts and the services mentioned. Breton Veterinary Hospital likely includes examination rooms for consultations and routine check-ups, a surgical suite for various procedures, and potentially areas for diagnostic imaging such as X-rays. Given the mention of boarding services, the facility would also have kennels or designated spaces for housing animals temporarily. The review mentioning a "path forward" during a pet's passing suggests a comforting and private area for end-of-life care. However, the negative boarding review points to a potential co-mingling of cats and dogs in the same room, which might be a notable characteristic of their boarding environment that could be distressing for some pets.

Based on the customer reviews, Breton Veterinary Hospital offers the following services:

  • General Veterinary Care: The positive comments about the "excellent" vets suggest that the hospital provides a range of general veterinary services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for illnesses and injuries in dogs and cats.
  • Euthanasia and End-of-Life Care: The deeply moving review about the passing of a pet on Christmas Eve highlights the hospital's compassionate approach to euthanasia, providing a supportive environment for families to say goodbye and ensuring a peaceful passing for the animal. This indicates a sensitive and caring approach during emotionally challenging times.
  • Pet Boarding (Dogs and Cats): The hospital offers boarding services for both cats and dogs. However, as indicated by one negative review, the current arrangement involves housing cats and dogs in the same room, which may cause significant stress to feline boarders.

Several features of Breton Veterinary Hospital can be identified from the customer feedback:

  • Excellent and Compassionate Veterinarians: The vets are described as "excellent," indicating a high level of professional skill and knowledge in animal care. Their ability to provide a "path forward" during a pet's passing also suggests a compassionate and supportive approach to difficult situations.
  • Great Staff: The staff is consistently praised as "great" and "helpful," contributing to a positive overall experience for pet owners, aside from the boarding issue.
  • Open on Holidays: The fact that the hospital was open on Christmas Eve demonstrates a commitment to providing care even during holidays, which can be crucial for emergency situations or end-of-life needs.
  • Sensitivity to Pet Owners' Emotions: The review about the pet's passing emphasizes the staff's ability to make a grieving family feel "unique" and supported, highlighting their emotional intelligence and client-centered approach.

However, a significant point of concern raised in one of the reviews is a critical feature of their boarding service that potential cat owners should be aware of:

  • Co-mingling of Cats and Dogs During Boarding: One reviewer expressed extreme disappointment and distress over discovering that their cats were boarded in the same room as dogs. This arrangement caused significant fear and stress to the cats throughout their two-week stay and was deemed "baffling and unacceptable" by the pet owner. This is a crucial piece of information for cat owners considering Breton Veterinary Hospital for boarding services.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers or special services at Breton Veterinary Hospital. Veterinary hospitals sometimes offer discounts for new clients, seasonal promotions on vaccinations or preventative care, or wellness packages. To learn about any current promotions or if there have been any changes to their boarding policies, especially regarding the separation of cats and dogs, local users are encouraged to contact the hospital directly at (301) 475-7808 or +1 301-475-7808. Speaking with the staff will provide the most up-to-date information on their services, boarding arrangements, and any available promotions.

In conclusion, Breton Veterinary Hospital in Leonardtown, MD, is recognized for its excellent and compassionate veterinary care, particularly during sensitive times like the loss of a pet. The veterinary and support staff are praised for their skill and kindness. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding their pet boarding arrangements, specifically the co-mingling of cats and dogs in the same room, which caused considerable distress to at least one cat owner. While the hospital may be a good option for general veterinary care and end-of-life services, cat owners considering boarding should inquire specifically about the current boarding policies and accommodations for felines. Dog owners seeking veterinary care and boarding may have a more positive experience based on the available reviews. It is recommended to contact Breton Veterinary Hospital directly for the most accurate and current information regarding all their services and policies.

The vets are excellent, and the staff is great—no complaints there. However, I have a serious issue with the boarding arrangements. I boarded my cats at this location a couple of times and was extremely upset to discover that they put cats and dogs in the same room. My cats were terrified for the entire two-week stay, and on top of that, I paid a significant amount of money for this experience. This setup is baffling and unacceptable to me. Now, we have to figure out alternative arrangements for our cats, but Breton will no longer be an option. Very disappointing.

I’ve been going to Breton for about a year now and I’m super happy with how they treat my dog, and me! My young son also really enjoys the little play area in the waiting room. Their payment plan and website make the logistics of being a pet owner easier too.

Breton Vet was always there for me and my best friend. Every single time I went in I felt like they truly cared. I sadly had to say goodbye to my best friend at the end of 2024 but I can’t say enough good things about the people the work at this vet. If I ever get another pet I know where to go.

Breton Vet Clinic has been great with taking care of our Korra, a 13 old Black Lab/Sharpei. The admin experience is great and we never had problems. The veterinary service is excellent and I would recommend Breton to all pet owners!
