Had my 4yo OTTB worked on for the first time today. I was nervous because she HATES being groomed and touched, but Dr Boggs was wonderful. He had the best, calming presence and my mare seemed to not mind him at all! Also, Dr Boggs was great at helping to educate me about things I can do between sessions to benefit my horse. I will definitely continue my routine bodywork with him! Highly recommend!!

Located at 1355 Furr Rd, Vass, NC 28394, this clinic is dedicated to providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services tailored specifically for the unique needs of sport horses and other equids, as well as general large animal veterinary care. Their commitment to excellence is reflected not only in the scope of their services but also in the overwhelmingly positive feedback from their clientele, highlighting their compassionate and effective approach to animal health.

The environment at Breezeway Sporthorse And Diagnostic Clinic is specifically designed to accommodate horses and large animals, setting it apart from typical small animal veterinary clinics. While specific architectural details might not be explicitly stated, one can infer an infrastructure that includes spacious examination areas, potentially dedicated lameness evaluation zones, and facilities for diagnostic imaging that cater to the size and movement of horses. The clinic likely features well-maintained stables or holding pens for in-patient care, ensuring a secure and comfortable environment for animals undergoing diagnostics or treatment. The focus on "Sporthorse and Diagnostic" in their name suggests that the facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools necessary for assessing performance-related issues in equine athletes. The overall ambiance is undoubtedly geared towards providing a calm and safe space for animals that might be undergoing stressful examinations or procedures, with a team trained to handle large animals with expertise and a calming presence, as evidenced by client testimonials.

Breezeway Sporthorse And Diagnostic Clinic, as a specialized "Pet Hospital" for equines and large animals, offers a comprehensive range of services, emphasizing diagnostic capabilities and performance-related care. Their services commonly include:

  • Comprehensive Diagnostic Services: This is a cornerstone of their practice, implied by "Diagnostic Clinic" in their name. This would include advanced imaging techniques such as digital radiography (X-rays) for bone and joint issues, and potentially ultrasound for soft tissue injuries. Lameness evaluations are a critical service for sport horses, utilizing various techniques to pinpoint the source of discomfort or performance limitation. Specialized diagnostic tools, such as the use of a wireless motion-analysis system (like Equinosis Q, which some clinics use), are often employed to objectively assess lameness.
  • Sports Medicine and Performance Horse Care: This encompasses a wide range of services aimed at optimizing the health and performance of equine athletes. It includes pre-purchase examinations, soundness evaluations, management of athletic injuries, and rehabilitation programs. The clinic likely offers treatments such as joint injections, shockwave therapy, and other advanced modalities to help horses recover and maintain peak performance.
  • Routine and Preventative Health Care: Just like for companion animals, preventative care is vital for horses. This includes routine wellness exams, vaccinations against common equine diseases, and comprehensive deworming programs.
  • Equine Dentistry: Specialized dental care for horses, including routine floating (filing sharp points on teeth), extractions, and treatment of dental pathologies. As noted in promotional items, dental appointments are a service they provide.
  • Bodywork and Adjunctive Therapies: This is a prominent service, as highlighted by a client review mentioning "routine bodywork" and promotional materials indicating "Chiropractic and Acupuncture session with Breezeway Sporthorse and Diagnostic Clinic." These therapies are crucial for maintaining musculoskeletal health and improving performance in sport horses.
  • General Medicine and Surgery: Addressing a wide array of medical conditions and performing necessary surgical procedures, from wound care to more complex soft tissue surgeries that can be performed on-site or through referral to a specialized equine surgical center.
  • Reproductive Services: For breeding operations, services may include breeding soundness exams, artificial insemination, and mare and stallion management.
  • Emergency and Urgent Care: While not a 24/7 emergency facility for all species, as a large animal practice, they would undoubtedly provide emergency care during business hours for their equine patients and offer guidance for after-hours emergencies, often through an on-call veterinarian.

Several features distinguish Breezeway Sporthorse And Diagnostic Clinic and contribute to its strong reputation, particularly within the equestrian community. One of the most highlighted features, directly from client testimonials, is the presence of veterinarians like Dr. Boggs, who possess a "best, calming presence." This ability to handle horses with a gentle and reassuring demeanor is paramount when working with large, sensitive animals, significantly reducing stress for both the horse and owner. The clinic's specialized focus on sport horses and diagnostics implies a deep level of expertise and state-of-the-art equipment tailored for intricate equine lameness and performance issues. This specialization allows them to offer a higher level of precision in diagnosis and more targeted treatment plans for equine athletes. The emphasis on client education, as mentioned in a review, where Dr. Boggs provided guidance on "things I can do between sessions to benefit my horse," underscores their commitment to empowering owners in their horse's care. Furthermore, the recurrent positive feedback describing the practice with "not enough positive adjectives" and stating that horses, ponies, and mules "all love them" speaks volumes about the compassionate and effective care provided by the entire team. Their participation in and sponsorship of equestrian events, such as the Breezeway Sporthorse and Diagnostic Clinic CCI2*-S at the Carolina International, further solidifies their standing as a dedicated and integral part of the local and regional equestrian community.

This serves as a strong form of promotion, establishing their expertise and dedication.
  • Auction Donations: As seen in past records, they have contributed services like "Chiropractic and Acupuncture session" and "Dental Appointment" to online auctions, often for charitable causes within the equestrian community. These not only serve as a form of community support but also introduce their specialized services to a broader audience.
