Horrible Experience – Incompetent, Unprofessional, and Cost Me Thousands I booked a travel service for my cat with Bond Vet, and it turned into an absolute nightmare. Their lack of professionalism, poor communication, and failure to handle basic paperwork not only cost me thousands but also made me miss my international flight. 1. Unprepared and Unhelpful Appointment I scheduled an appointment specifically for travel documentation, yet the vet had no idea about the travel requirements. They still charged me $100 for absolutely no help. 2. Unnecessary Charges for Rabies Shot I scheduled a rabies shot for my cat, which is required for travel. Instead of just administering the vaccine, they charged me another $100 for a “body check,” despite it being less than a week after my previous visit. 3. Health Certificate Disaster They scheduled my health certificate appointment for Wednesday—my flight was following Monday. I requested an earlier appointment, but the best they could offer was Monday at a far-away branch. They didn’t even ship my documents until Friday afternoon, meaning they’d arrive Monday morning—AFTER my flight left. When I called to ask for help, they refused to do anything. 4. Unreachable Doctors The doctor promised I could reach out if something went wrong with my documents. When I called, I was connected to a remote employee. I asked for a direct number to the vet, and they gave me the same number I called—play me like a fool 5. Medication Issue and No Solutions They prescribed a calm-down medication for my cat, but when it didn’t work (as I had warned them it wouldn’t), they told me to just go to a pet store for a solution. 6. Missed Flight and Huge Expenses Thanks to their incompetence, I missed my international flight, costing me $2,000 in Bond Vet fees alone—plus the cost of rescheduling my flight. 7. No Empathy, Just Money-Grabbing I was told their service is for “high-end customers” who pay for “good service.” Well, if you’re rich and a fool, Bond Vet will happily take your money and give you zero care or empathy. 8. Impossible to Reach Management I tried to reach management and was told I couldn’t talk to a manager. They also wouldn’t let me leave a message. Terrible customer service. Final Verdict: DO NOT go to Bond Vet if you need proper pet care. They’re disorganized, incompetent, and only care about making money. Avoid at all costs.

Welcome to Bond Vet - Somerville

Bond Vet - Somerville, located at 320 Foley St, Somerville, MA 02145, USA, operates as a modern "Pet Hospital" with a stated mission to strengthen the human-animal bond through accessible and contemporary veterinary care. Positioned conveniently in Assembly Row, this clinic aims to serve pet parents in Somerville, Medford, Charlestown, and Cambridge, offering a blend of primary and urgent care services.

The environment at Bond Vet - Somerville is designed to be aesthetically pleasing and comforting for both pets and their owners. Descriptions from their official website and positive reviews highlight a "minimalist, clean" clinic with "warm tones, comfortable furniture, soothing lighting, and entertainment — toys for pets, books for people." This design philosophy strives to create a less stressful and more welcoming atmosphere than traditional veterinary settings, aiming to put pets at ease during their visit. The emphasis on a "stress-free environment" is a key aspect of their intended patient experience.

Bond Vet - Somerville offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, addressing both routine wellness and unexpected health concerns. Their services generally include:

  • Routine Checkups and Wellness Exams: Essential for preventive care, these visits cover overall health assessments, vaccinations, and tailored medical plans for pets.
  • Urgent Care: A significant part of their model, Bond Vet is positioned to handle "uh-oh moments" and concerns that fall between routine exams and critical emergency care, offering same-day appointments or walk-ins when a pet needs immediate attention but not necessarily an emergency room visit.
  • Veterinary Surgery: The clinic performs routine surgeries such as spays and neuters, as well as other surgical procedures.
  • Dental Care: Comprehensive dental cleanings are offered, including oral exams, full-mouth radiographs, scaling, polishing, and extractions when necessary.
  • Diagnostic Equipment and Labs: They have diagnostic equipment, in-house labs, and medication on site to facilitate quicker diagnoses and treatment.
  • Online Pharmacy: For convenience, they offer an online pharmacy, with options for shipping medications directly to the client's doorstep.
  • Telehealth/Virtual Visits: Pets owners can consult with a vet from home for advice, prescriptions, and to address concerns that don't require an in-person examination.
  • International Health Certificates: They offer services for obtaining necessary documentation for pet travel, both domestic and international.

Key features of Bond Vet - Somerville, as presented by the company, include their modern, design-forward clinics, tech-enabled tools (such as online booking and digital medical records), and a focus on transparency. They aim to provide "compassionate, thorough, and friendly care" with an emphasis on convenience, offering late hours, walk-in, and same-day appointments. They also strive for transparent pricing, ensuring clients understand costs before treatments are rendered. Dr. Amber Shamburger is mentioned positively in one review for her calm and patient demeanor, helping anxious pets feel at ease. The ability to book last-minute appointments quickly, conveniently, and reliably is also highlighted as a significant advantage by a satisfied customer.

However, the customer reviews for Bond Vet - Somerville present a complex and somewhat polarized picture of the client experience. While one review praises "consistently excellent customer service," "impeccable care and genuine consideration," and "informative and transparent" explanations of costs, another describes an "absolute nightmare" of an experience, highlighting significant issues related to professionalism, communication, and competence, particularly concerning international pet travel documentation.

The highly critical review details a series of negative experiences:

  • Unprepared Appointments: A vet allegedly had no knowledge of travel requirements despite a scheduled appointment for travel documentation, resulting in a charge for unhelpful service.
  • Unnecessary Charges: A "body check" was charged for a rabies shot, less than a week after a previous visit, which the client deemed unnecessary.
  • Health Certificate Disaster: Delays in processing and shipping travel documents led to a missed international flight, with the clinic reportedly refusing to assist in resolving the issue.
  • Unreachable Doctors and Management: Attempts to contact the prescribing doctor or management for assistance were met with unhelpful remote employees and refusal to connect to a manager or leave a message.
  • Medication Issues: A prescribed calm-down medication was ineffective, and the client was advised to seek solutions from a pet store.
  • Financial Burden: The described incompetence allegedly led to thousands of dollars in lost flight costs and Bond Vet fees.
  • Perceived Lack of Empathy: The client felt the service was dismissive and prioritized "money-grabbing" over care and empathy.

Conversely, the positive review speaks to a very different experience, emphasizing genuine care, effective calming techniques used by Dr. Shamburger for an anxious dog, and transparent cost explanations. This disparity suggests that experiences at Bond Vet - Somerville can vary significantly, potentially depending on the specific service sought (e.g., routine wellness vs. complex travel documentation) or the individuals involved in the care process.

Promotional information, based on the provided data, would focus on the convenience, modern facilities, and commitment to clear communication and patient comfort. The ability to easily book appointments online, the availability of urgent care, and the inviting clinic environment are strong selling points. The clinic's stated goal to "set a new standard of care in the vet space" and strengthen the "human-animal bond" forms the essence of their brand. However, potential clients, especially those requiring specialized services like international travel, would need to consider the full range of client experiences, including the very negative one presented, to form a comprehensive understanding of what to expect. The phone numbers, (617) 302-8055 and +1 617-302-8055, are available for direct inquiries and booking.

I recently visited Bond Vet for what I believe was my 3rd or 4th appointment (I’ve lost count!), and one thing that continues to impress me is the consistently excellent customer service. Each visit has been met with impeccable care and genuine consideration for both me and my pet. I was especially pleased with our recent experience with Dr. Amber Shamburger. My dog is typically wary of strangers and sensitive to being touched in certain areas, but Dr. Shamburger’s calm and patient demeanor put him at ease. It was a huge relief to see him respond so well. Everyone who assisted us was informative and transparent, particularly when it came to explaining costs before moving forward with any treatments or services. While my dog has a regular vet for routine wellness visits, I really value Bond Vet for last-minute appointments—the booking process is quick, convenient, and, most importantly, reliable.

The vet was very nice, but she gave me false hope and treatment. My cat died a few days later, at home. I was offered a refund to a test that was never completed . I never got the refund. I should have been refunded the full visit.

This was one of the best vet experiences we have ever had. The facility and the staff were amazing. It was clean, bright, and had some of the friendliest and most understanding staff. They had a water machine for cold or hot water, tea, plenty of balls and toys for the fur babies, and great healthy treats. It was very modern and had a lowering weight table to help accommodate older larger fur babies and took ample time asking questions, explaining treatment options, giving belly rubs for the fur baby, and being accommodating. The bathroom is one of the cleanest ones I have ever used and smelled wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Brought my Cocker Spaniel in as a walk-in after he was bit by another dog. The entire process as a new patient was very smooth, and the staff here were extremely thorough and professional. They made my dog feel very safe, and took care of him as if he was their own. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone. Thank you Bond Vet-Somerville! Chase is feeling much better!
