  • Orthopedic and Soft Tissue Surgery: This is a cornerstone of their practice. Their team comprises board-certified veterinary surgeons who are adept at performing a broad range of complex orthopedic procedures, such as TPLO repairs for ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL), as well as various soft tissue surgeries. They utilize specialized equipment and have staff specifically trained in anesthesia to ensure the safest and most effective surgical outcomes.
  • Rehabilitation Services: Recognizing the critical role of post-operative care in recovery, Blackford Vet Surgery Referral offers extensive rehabilitation services. These include, but are not limited to, underwater treadmill therapy, land treadmill exercises, passive range of motion, massage, laser therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, shockwave therapy, e-stimulation, and weight loss programs. Rehabilitation is offered for both pre- and post-surgical needs, assisting pets in regaining strength and mobility. A referral from a primary care veterinarian is necessary for a comprehensive evaluation by their surgeons and rehabilitation specialists, leading to a tailored strength plan for each pet.
  • Internal Medicine Referral: Blackford Vet Surgery Referral houses Veterinary Internal Medicine Referral, a separate company run by Dr. Becke Bogue. Dr. Bogue is highly regarded for her expertise in ultrasonography, medical oncology, and general internal medicine. This collaborative arrangement allows for a seamless integration of surgical and internal medicine care, ensuring thorough and well-rounded treatment plans for complex cases. Similar to surgical referrals, a primary care veterinarian referral is required to consult with Dr. Bogue.

The integrated approach to these services, where surgical expertise is complemented by dedicated rehabilitation and internal medicine, highlights their commitment to holistic patient care. They ensure that all necessary diagnostic tests, such as bloodwork and radiographs, are current before any procedures, demonstrating a meticulous approach to patient safety and surgical planning.

Absolutely amazing group! From the phone call through to picking up my little baby after surgery everyone was just amazing. Very friendly, very informative, and more than caring. I feel like Lucy was treated as if she was their baby. The quick response to getting her help, follow up, and even after responding to questions very quickly. Lucy is still recovering but she's been given the best possible care and they are worth it! Recovery instructions on paper and link with videos to help us make sure we are doing everything right. Completely worth knowing your baby is in great hands and they take extra care in ensuring their health and comfort.

The WORST vets ever. Do not use this facility. They are supposed to be "orthopedic specialist" yet they cannot even diagnos orthopedic issues. They kept telling me "it's autoimmune" and you need to see an internal medicine vet, after they did PRP on my dog as they said he needed it. They then even gave me a referral! UT helped immensely and said "no autoimmune whatsoever". Paid Blackford an exorbitant amount of money only for their "expertise" to be dead wrong and life threatening to my dog. None of them, none at all, should be allowed to practice veterinary medicine. The damage to his leg, just for an IV was uncalled for, inexcusable and horrific for a vet practice.

We are so grateful for Dr. Hodshon and the staff at Blackford Vets. Charlie tore his CCL in 2022, and they told me we'd most likely be back within a year. When we hit the 2 year mark, I thought, "Look at my boy defying the odds!" And he proceeded to tear his other CCL within a few days. Dr. Hodshon remembered us like it was yesterday! Our vet tech, Rebecca, was absolutely wonderful, too. Every person there was attentive, sympathetic, and supportive throughout Charlie's entire day. Even Ashley, the vet tech who called to check on Charlie the next day, patiently answered my questions and listened to all of my concerns without judgement or exasperation! I wish this could be my everyday vet. I'm thankful Charlie only has 2 CCLs to tear, but I will miss the people of Blackford very much!
