Welcome to Big Rock Veterinary Hospital
Big Rock Veterinary Hospital, located at 910 3rd Ave in New Brighton, PA, is a prominent and highly regarded "Pet Hospital" serving the local community and surrounding areas of Beaver County. Unlike a human pharmacy, which dispenses medication, a "Pet Hospital" like Big Rock Veterinary Hospital provides a complete range of medical, diagnostic, and surgical services directly to animals, often including an in-house pharmacy for dispensing pet-specific medications. This facility is characterized by its commitment to comprehensive care, its state-of-the-art amenities, and a highly compassionate and professional team.
Big Rock Veterinary Hospital operates out of a newly remodeled, state-of-the-art facility. This modern environment is designed to be welcoming and efficient, ensuring comfort for both pets and their owners. Public information suggests a focus on creating a professional yet warm atmosphere, where clients and their pets receive personal attention. The updated facilities indicate an investment in modern veterinary technology, allowing for advanced diagnostic capabilities and effective treatments. Specific details like a "long, blue modular couch" and "sleek black leather loveseat" in the waiting area, along with ergonomic office chairs for staff, point to an environment that prioritizes comfort and functionality for everyone who steps through their doors. This commitment to a well-designed and clean space contributes significantly to a positive overall experience, especially during potentially stressful veterinary visits.
As a full-service "Pet Hospital," Big Rock Veterinary Hospital offers an extensive array of veterinary services to ensure the health and well-being of dogs and cats. Their services go beyond basic check-ups, providing a holistic approach to pet care:
Wellness Exams: Regular comprehensive physical examinations are fundamental to preventive care, allowing veterinarians to establish a baseline for health and detect any subtle changes early.
Vaccinations: Essential immunizations are provided to protect pets from common infectious diseases, with vaccination protocols tailored to the individual pet's lifestyle and risk factors.
Spay & Neuter: Routine surgical procedures aimed at population control, reducing behavioral issues, and preventing various health problems later in life.
General Surgery: Beyond spay/neuter, the hospital is equipped to perform a range of soft tissue surgeries, including mass removals, abdominal surgeries, and other necessary procedures.
Microchipping: A crucial service for permanent pet identification, significantly increasing the chances of reuniting lost or stolen pets with their families.
In-House Laboratory: The presence of an in-house lab allows for rapid diagnostic testing, including blood work and other analyses, often providing results within the same visit for quicker diagnosis and treatment planning.
Radiology (X-rays): Digital radiography is available for imaging internal body structures, aiding in the diagnosis of injuries, illnesses, and other conditions that may not be apparent externally.
Hospice and Euthanasia Services: Providing compassionate care and support for pets nearing the end of their lives, including pain management, comfort care, and humane euthanasia services when necessary, focusing on dignity and peace.
Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services, including professional cleanings, extractions, and other oral health procedures, to maintain a pet's overall well-being, as dental health is often linked to systemic health.
Urgent Care during Business Hours: Big Rock Veterinary Hospital aims to accommodate urgent medical needs during their regular operating hours, demonstrating a commitment to timely intervention for sick or injured pets. This is highly valued by clients, as evidenced by reviews.
Client Education: The hospital places emphasis on client education, ensuring pet owners are well-informed about their pet's health, treatment options, and preventive care strategies.
Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and management of complex internal diseases affecting various organ systems.

Feb 28, 2025 · Denise HeuringIf you live in the area, you’re truly fortunate to have Big Rock Veterinary Hospital. My 2-year-old Cane Corso is quite a handful, but the entire staff—especially Dr. Goncz—has always been amazing with him. They consistently go above and beyond, even accommodating us for same-day sick appointments when needed. Recently, my dog became very sick, and I could tell after two days that something was seriously wrong. Big Rock got him in for X-rays within an hour, and shortly after, we were on our way to a larger hospital for possible surgery. It turned out he had eaten two large toys, causing a dangerous abdominal blockage. Dr. Goncz personally called multiple facilities to ensure we got the fastest treatment possible. Thanks to her quick actions and the incredible staff at Big Rock, my dog’s life was saved. I can’t thank them enough and recommend them to everyone I know.
Dec 22, 2024 · Michelle GlassAfter having to make the hardest decision I've ever had to make, to put my 13 year old baby to sleep, everyone at this facility were so sweet, loving and caring, it was amazing. They truly are angels, and I couldn't imagine having to do this with another vet. They gave me the time I needed to be with her and to say good-bye properly. They treated her with respect while she was here and after. I received a sympathy card from them, signed by everyone in the office, with a paw print and nose print of my puppy, something I had told them I tried to get but was unable to. Truly amazing people, I've recommended friends to them and will continue to refer anyone to them. Thank you for being such caring and loving individuals!
Apr 30, 2025 · R DAwesome staff! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming! They really listened to me, did a thorough exam and kept me advised every step of the way. We have a new vet!
Dec 11, 2024 · Billie JoI absolutely love Big Rock Vets ! They are all so caring and loving with all three of my dogs. The staff truly cares about your fur babies. They go above and beyond to make sure they take time with each pet. They let you take your time to make any decision you may have to make. They know you when you walk in so you don’t feel like just a number. I’m so happy we chose Bog Rock for our babies !
