Techs and staff are friendly but our experience ensured we will not return. We took our dog in for an obvious UTI. She had them before and we are familiar with the symptoms. We were able to schedule a same day appointment. After the exam we were told that the doctor wants to do a urine culture analysis. Because our dog was treated for UTIs before we knew what worked and requested the treatment (Convenia). We were told the doctor isn't comfortable giving the shot without doing the $200+ culture analysis. We settled on getting antibiotics in tablet form but had to agree to a urinalysis ($90). After the visit the antibiotics helped for a time but the infection returned. We called to request the Convenia injection and were told on the phone that we could have it done during a tech appointment. We decided to wait to make sure the symptoms remained. Once it was clear the infection was back full force we called again for the injection appointment and were told to come in. At the appointment the doctor first didn't want to do the injection without doing an exam. When we pointed out that the exam isn't going to show anything new we were informed that the doctor meant doing the urine culture analysis. We tried to see if there was any other way and eventually were given a quote to do the shot and the analysis (no exam). Not only were the prices anywhere between 25% (analysis) and 90% (Convenia) higher than those we got a few weeks ago but we were told that actually we didn't really need to do the urine culture analysis right now. All this exchange was done via a staff member who kept going back and forth between us and the doctor. The doctor never saw us or said a word to us. We ended up walking away. It was a waste of almost an hour of our day. The whole experience felt like extortion. We will have to find another vet.

Environment and Facilities

While specific details about the interior aesthetics and exact facilities are not readily available, a typical pet hospital in a bustling urban area like Sherman Oaks would generally feature a welcoming reception area, multiple examination rooms, and dedicated spaces for diagnostics, surgery, and possibly boarding. Veterinary hospitals are designed to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for animals undergoing treatment or routine check-ups. The location on Ventura Boulevard suggests ease of access for local residents. The focus is always on creating an atmosphere that minimizes stress for both pets and their owners during what can sometimes be anxious visits. This typically includes a well-maintained clinic that adheres to professional veterinary standards for hygiene and organization.

Services Offered

Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital, as a Pet Hospital category, is expected to offer a comprehensive suite of veterinary services. Based on customer reviews, their services appear to include, but are not limited to, routine preventative care such as **vaccinations** for various animal diseases. Many pet owners frequently bring their animals in for these essential immunizations, which are crucial for maintaining pet health and preventing the spread of common illnesses. Furthermore, the hospital provides **allergy treatments**, which is a common concern for many pet owners, as animals can suffer from a wide range of environmental or food-related allergies. Routine **check-ups** are also a staple service, vital for early detection of potential health issues and for ensuring pets remain in optimal condition. Beyond general health maintenance, the hospital also assists with specialized needs like **check-ups for travel**, a service often required by pet owners preparing to relocate or travel internationally with their animals, ensuring all necessary health certifications and requirements are met. While not explicitly stated in the provided information, a full-service pet hospital would typically also offer diagnostic imaging (X-rays, ultrasound), surgical procedures (routine and emergency), dental care, laboratory services for blood and urine analysis, parasite control, and potentially emergency care during operating hours.

Features and Approach to Care

One of the key features highlighted by some long-standing customers is the duration of their patronage, with one review mentioning almost nine years of trust. This indicates a consistent client base and suggests a level of reliability and satisfaction for some pet owners. The hospital caters to various "doggies," implying a focus on canine care, although a general pet hospital would typically serve cats and potentially other small animals as well. Reviews indicate that the staff, particularly the technicians, are perceived as **friendly**. This aspect of customer service can significantly impact a pet owner's experience, creating a more positive and less stressful visit. The ability to schedule **same-day appointments** for urgent issues, as noted in one review, is another valuable feature, providing prompt attention when a pet is unwell. This responsiveness can be crucial in managing acute conditions.

Promotional Information and Considerations

While direct promotional statements from the hospital are not available, the information gathered from customer experiences provides insight into their operational practices. The pricing structure for services like urine culture analysis and medication, as described in one review, suggests that costs can be a significant factor for some clients. For instance, a urine culture analysis was quoted at over $200, and a urinalysis at $90. The cost of specific treatments like Convenia injections also varied over time. It's important for prospective clients to inquire about pricing for specific services and treatments upfront to manage expectations. The hospital's approach to diagnostics, such as preferring a urine culture analysis before administering certain medications, indicates a commitment to thorough investigation, which can be seen as a strength, though it may also lead to additional costs. The communication style, where information is relayed through staff members rather than directly by the doctor in some instances, is a point of consideration for some clients. Prospective clients might benefit from understanding this communication protocol. It is advisable for new clients to discuss their pet's history and any preferred treatment approaches with the veterinary team during the initial consultation to ensure alignment.

Great place, not too expensive either. Staff takes their time to answer every question you have in detail, don't make you feel like you are holding them up. They take good care of animals.
