Don't bring medium to large dogs here. The vet that attended us did not know how to handle my 45 lb dog. I will NEVER EVER come back here. The only reason I went there is because I was new to the area. I've gone to different vets throughout the years and this was the worst experience I've ever had. On top of that, whatever lab they used came back with inconclusive results for my sick dog. Turns out it was cancer and the decline was awful. I would say they should stick to cats, but even those reviews don't look so great.

---Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital offers a broad spectrum of **veterinary services**, designed to address various aspects of pet health and well-being. These services include:
- Physical Examinations: Emphasizing preventive care, veterinarians recommend complete physical examinations at least once, and ideally twice, annually. These exams involve thorough checks of the pet's heart and lungs, vision assessment, palpation for any lumps or swelling, and detailed inspection of teeth and oral cavities.
- In-House Laboratory: The hospital is equipped with an **in-house laboratory** capable of providing rapid, on-site test results. This includes immediate blood testing for internal organ health, electrolyte levels, red and white blood cell counts, and clotting abnormalities. They can also quickly perform blood typing for transfusions and test for common feline viruses and viral diarrheas in both dogs and cats.
- Dental Services: As part of their commitment to comprehensive oral health, digital radiographs of pets' mouths are utilized during dental cleaning procedures. This allows for a detailed examination of roots and bone structures below the gumline, often revealing hidden health issues.
- Flea Control: The hospital stays updated on the latest advancements in **flea control products** to ensure pets remain comfortable and free from flea-related conditions such as itchy dermatitis.
- Surgery: The veterinary team is skilled in a wide range of surgical procedures, from routine interventions like spays (ovariohysterectomy) and neuters (castration) to more complex procedures such as Bloat Surgery (correction of Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus).
- Ultrasound Services: For advanced diagnostic imaging, Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital collaborates with mobile ultrasound providers who conduct on-site examinations, aiding in more in-depth investigations into the causes of a pet's illness.
- Behavior Services: Recognizing the importance of early socialization and training, the hospital has partnered with KARMA DOG TRAINING to offer **puppy socialization classes** and dog training programs that employ rewards-based techniques.
- Emergency Services: A significant feature of Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital is its provision of **emergency services**, with a doctor and technician present on-site throughout the night. The team is experienced in trauma management, emergency surgical interventions, and routine well-patient care. They also coordinate with local veterinary practices and specialty care providers to ensure continuous and cohesive care for pets.
- Grooming: Beyond medical care, the hospital offers **grooming services** including baths, haircuts, nail grinding, teeth brushing, and the use of specialty shampoos. Groomers often identify potential skin and ear health problems, promptly bringing them to the attention of the veterinary team or the pet owner.
- Health Certificates for Travel: For pet owners planning to travel, the doctors at the facility are authorized to issue **health certificates for domestic pet travel** between states, ensuring compliance with regulations set by the United States Department of Agriculture and individual state requirements for rabies inoculations.
Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital, which originated in 1996 through the vision of three partners aiming for a 24-hour practice, is now led by Dr. Laurel Leach. The hospital holds **certification from the American Animal Hospital Association**, underscoring its commitment to high standards of veterinary care. Beyond its general practice, the facility provides specialized **emergency and critical care** services. A core aspect of their operational philosophy is a **client-centered approach**, coupled with the strategic integration of technology to enhance efficiency and communication. This includes the use of electronic medical records and digital X-rays. The dedicated online payment portal further exemplifies their focus on client convenience and security. The staff at Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital is encouraged to engage in continuous personal growth and development through ongoing education, fostering a culture of excellence and compassion within the team. ---Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital maintains an active online presence, including its official website, which serves as a resource for information about their services and may feature client testimonials. The hospital is listed across various pet-related directories and platforms, with its contact details consistently provided: phone at (818) 788-2022 and mobile at +1 818-788-2022, and its physical address at 14302 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, USA. While the facility strives to offer comprehensive and convenient care, it is crucial for potential clients to consider the full spectrum of available information, including customer reviews, to make an informed decision tailored to their pet's specific needs.
---While Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital aims to deliver thorough and compassionate pet care, it is important to note that **customer experiences can vary significantly**. Some clients have shared positive feedback, highlighting the **friendliness and attentiveness of the staff**, the **thoroughness and genuine concern** demonstrated by the doctors, and what they perceive as **reasonable pricing**. Positive remarks often pertain to routine care, vaccinations, allergy treatments, and health check-ups for travel. Customers have also appreciated the staff's willingness to patiently answer questions and provide excellent care for their animals.
Conversely, it is equally important to acknowledge that some clients have reported **highly negative and distressing experiences**. For instance, one review expresses strong dissatisfaction with the handling of a **medium to large-sized dog**, specifically a 45 lb animal, leading to a vow never to return. This review also cited concerns about inconclusive lab results that, tragically, later revealed cancer. Another particularly severe complaint details the **death of a cat** shortly after receiving insulin shots for a diabetes diagnosis, with the owner emphatically attributing the death to the veterinary intervention rather than natural causes. These accounts, while deeply personal and emotional, point to a notable disparity in client satisfaction and underscore the critical importance of individual research and thoughtful consideration when choosing a veterinary provider. Prospective clients are strongly advised to review a wide range of available feedback online and, if possible, to visit the facility in person or speak directly with the staff to ascertain if the services and approach align with their specific expectations and requirements for their pet's health and well-being.

Apr 28, 2025 · Maria ReyesThey killed my first ever pet. The vet said my sweet kitty (who was overall not bad and was brought in for an unrelated checkup) had diabetes and needed daily insulin shots. He died at home in pain after many hours of fighting for his life on the very first day these dumb shots started being administered. Would have been better off dying of old age in a year or two without intervention. I’ve had several superseniors I’ve taken care of and I’ve seen what natural death looks like. This wasn’t it. This was murder. I will never let it go. I want to leave a longer more detailed review explaining the situation in color but it’s just too painful even now after 3+ years to relive it. Maybe one day I’ll come back and do it.
Apr 28, 2025 · iLLI have always really appreciated the staff at Beverly Oaks and have been bringing my cats here for many years now. A lot of vets price gauge and do so much testing on your pet that any owner would say yes to when in fear of something being wrong with their beloved pet. It’s the reason I have left other vet offices in the past and I have not experienced that here. The vets explain what’s going on and are not alarmists. I’ve specifically really loved Dr. Leech and the way she goes about explaining things. The girls at the front have always been friendly and I love that this vet is also open on weekends! I would highly recommend them for your pet!
Nov 17, 2024 · Nicky SchneidmanI brought my 1 yr old cat here for urinary problems, Dr. Leach is amazing when it comes to cats, she listened to my needs and is very sincere. It’s hard to find vets that sit and hear you. She made me feel trust and explained things very well. The girls at the front desk are thorough and friendly. Cathy went above and beyond when I was a stress ball. They all care. Prices are fair. Overall I’m happy with my cats progress so far. I have found my Cat vet, plus it’s conveniently located and only five minutes from my home. Highly recommend.
Jul 22, 2022 · Dina Renee GonzalezThe bedside manner of the team at Beverly Oaks Animal Hospital is deplorable and I do not recommend taking your pet here, especially when working with Lindsey Abbott. I took my cat to BOAH for a blood transfusion (which was successful, so that prompts 1 star for the operation), however the aftermath of egregious neglect of care and lack of responsibility is why I will never come here again. I picked up my cat late on Thursday night before Christmas weekend from his procedure. Friday afternoon I noticed he had a dried blood patch on has backside. We had already traveled out of LA for the holiday, so I assumed it was the transfusion site. I return to BOAH on Tuesday to show them the issue and they claim that THIS WAS NOT THE SITE OF THE TRANSFUSION. So my ask is.... what happened?! He was fine when I dropped him off, but the next day after being under BOAH care for 12 hours he has a gaping wound in his backside. Dr. Woods tried to scuff it off that it couldn't possibly be their fault and it was due to over-grooming (clearly not the case). They then share is was due to a ruptured abscess (more believable, but my primary vet saw him 4 days before the transfusion and there was no abscess so how could it form and rupture in less than a week?). Whether the wound happened due to foul play or not, I am shocked that the medical team discharged my cat to me with a massive wound on his body without alerting me to it or addressing it, I'm sure hoping I wouldn't notice. What I found truly disgusting was the bedside manner of the manager, Lindsey Abbott. On Tuesday when I asked to speak to her because of the lack of a proper explanation from Dr. Wood, Lindsey storms in and aggressively says "if you don't trust our doctors, you can leave" when I shared that the over grooming statement wasn't adding up. Lindsey was hostile and defensive in such a way that makes me think that this was the fault of the hospital and by coming in hot would help to cover it up. It's clear that Lindsey is very immature in her role as a medical care giver. If I were the owners of the clinic, I would reconsider her engagement with patients as her behavior tarnishes the reputation of the facility and team members who do treat patients professionally. For those in search of a professional, responsible and kind vet clinic, go to West Hollywood Animal Hospital.
