Do NOT go there. He took X-rays on a dog that were so bad they couldn't be used. Charged $600! Said the dog had a dislocated hip, quoted a surgery price of 2K to 4K. We pulled the dog and took him to Hope Animal Clinic. We took the X-rays but they couldn't even be read by Hope they were so bad. The dog did NOT have a dislocated hip he had a crushed shoulder! Which Dr. Gaines claimed was fine. Run as fast as you can from this place!

Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic Introduce
This introduction addresses Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic, located at 403 4th Ave SW, Bessemer, AL 35022, USA, within the "Pet Hospital" category. The clinic can be reached at (205) 425-1679 or +1 205-425-1679. It is crucial to note that the available customer reviews present significant negative experiences that potential local users should carefully consider.
Due to the severely negative nature of the provided customer reviews, inferring positive aspects about the environment of Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic is challenging. One review details an experience where X-rays taken at the clinic were reportedly unusable by another veterinary facility ("Hope Animal Clinic"). This raises concerns about the quality of the diagnostic equipment and the expertise in its use. The same review also describes a misdiagnosis (dislocated hip versus crushed shoulder) and a substantial charge for the allegedly inadequate X-rays. Another review paints a picture of unprofessional and rude behavior, specifically mentioning a phone call where the veterinarian reportedly hung up on a potential customer seeking price information. This suggests a potentially negative and unhelpful environment for pet owners interacting with the clinic, both in person and over the phone. Given these accounts, it is difficult to objectively describe a positive or reassuring environment at this clinic.
Based on the extremely negative customer feedback, it is challenging to recommend or detail specific services offered by Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic without significant reservations. The first review recounts the clinic taking X-rays, suggesting they offer diagnostic imaging. They also provided a surgical quote for a supposed dislocated hip, indicating surgical services might be part of their offerings. However, the subsequent misdiagnosis and the unreadability of the X-rays cast serious doubt on the quality and reliability of these services. The second review mentions an office visit price, implying they conduct consultations. However, the rude and uncooperative behavior described during a price inquiry is a major cause for concern regarding their customer service. While it can be assumed that, as a pet hospital, they likely offer standard veterinary services such as examinations, vaccinations, and treatment of illnesses, the negative reviews strongly suggest potential issues with the quality of care, diagnostic accuracy, and professional conduct.
The features of Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic, as portrayed by the available customer reviews, are overwhelmingly negative. A significant concern is the alleged misdiagnosis of a serious injury (crushed shoulder being missed and mistaken for a dislocated hip), which could have severe consequences for the animal's well-being if the owner had proceeded with the recommended but unnecessary surgery. The poor quality of the X-rays, rendering them unusable by another clinic, is another critical negative feature, especially considering the $600 charge associated with them. Furthermore, the reported rudeness, unprofessionalism, and arrogance displayed during a phone inquiry about pricing are serious red flags regarding the clinic's communication and customer service ethics. The apparent prioritization of monetary charges over accurate diagnosis and ethical communication, as suggested by the reviews, is a deeply concerning feature. The inability or unwillingness to provide transparent pricing for services like a chest X-ray further contributes to a negative perception of the clinic's practices.
Given the strong negative feedback, it is impossible to identify positive or beneficial features of Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic based solely on the provided information. The reviews strongly advise against using their services due to concerns about misdiagnosis, poor quality diagnostics, unprofessional behavior, and potentially inflated charges.
There is no information available regarding any promotional activities at Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic. Given the severely negative feedback concerning their core services and customer interactions, any potential promotions would likely be overshadowed by the serious concerns raised by former customers.
In conclusion, the available customer reviews for Bessemer McCalla Animal Clinic, located at 403 4th Ave SW, Bessemer, AL, present a highly negative picture. One review details a significant misdiagnosis, unusable X-rays costing a substantial amount, and a potentially unnecessary surgical recommendation. The other review describes rude and unprofessional behavior during a phone inquiry about pricing. These accounts raise serious concerns about the quality of veterinary care, diagnostic accuracy, professional conduct, and customer service at this clinic. Local users in the "Pet Hospital" category are strongly advised to carefully consider these negative experiences when making decisions about their pet's healthcare. Due to the severity of the issues raised, seeking alternative veterinary care in the Bessemer or McCalla area may be a prudent course of action. The lack of any positive feedback or information to counter these negative experiences makes it impossible to recommend this clinic based on the currently available information.

Oct 24, 2024 · Laura BVery rude and seemed unprofessional since he hung up in my face. Was just wanting prices and was told the office visit price and told it was about the same every where however they were actually cheaper on the office visit. Asked about a chest xray and he wouldn't quote a price and was very rude about it. Why does nobody care about the animals any more. It seems to be only about the $$$. Would not take my dog to be euthanized here. Not Professional and very arrogant and rude. If you can't even talk to someone decent on the phone I could only imagine how you treat the animals and probably your staff. Wish there was an option for no star. This place definitely deserves it. Thank you save yourself the time and trouble from even going here and especially calling.
Jun 08, 2024 · Amanda SparksBeen going to Doc Gaines for 10 years or so. Never once have I had an issue him or his services. My dogs see him annually for health checkups and vaccinations as well as any other care required and boarding. Rarely is there a wait of more than a few mins and I have never made an appointment. He has a wonderful and caring staff as well.
