Hands down the best vet we’ve ever had! The staff are all extremely friendly and accommodating for each of our pets specific needs. (We have a very nervous and reactive dog, and 2 bunnies who are nervous by nature.) The staff are sensitive to each individual animal and they do what’s best for them. They even have a separate, private waiting room for scared or special needs pets. We went to many vets that were just okay (some terrible) before finding Berkley and I’m so happy we did! So are our pets!

Welcome to Berkley Animal Hospital

For pet owners in Berkley, Michigan, and the surrounding areas, the "Pet Hospital" category on various platforms serves as a directory for local veterinary care providers. One such clinic is Berkley Animal Hospital, located at 3996 12 Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072, USA. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed and objective overview of Berkley Animal Hospital, based on the available customer reviews, to help them make informed decisions about their pet's healthcare.

Berkley Animal Hospital can be contacted by phone at (248) 545-4933 or through their mobile number +1 248-545-4933. These contact details are crucial for scheduling appointments, inquiring about their range of services, or seeking guidance on pet health matters. As a local "Pet Hospital," Berkley Animal Hospital likely offers a variety of veterinary services to address the medical needs of pets in the community.

The customer reviews for Berkley Animal Hospital present a somewhat contrasting picture of the clinic. One reviewer shared an overwhelmingly positive experience, describing it as "hands down the best vet we’ve ever had!" This pet owner highlighted the staff's exceptional friendliness and their accommodating approach to the specific needs of their multiple pets, including a nervous and reactive dog and two naturally anxious bunnies. They specifically praised the staff's sensitivity to each animal's individual temperament and their commitment to acting in the best interest of the pet. A notable feature mentioned was the presence of a separate, private waiting room for scared or special needs pets, which significantly improved their experience. This reviewer expressed immense satisfaction, having tried other vets with less positive outcomes, and enthusiastically recommended Berkley Animal Hospital.

However, another, more lengthy review detailed a severely negative experience, expressing "absurd, concerning and unacceptable treatment." This long-time customer recounted a situation where their dog experienced a likely seizure less than 48 hours after receiving three vaccines at Berkley Animal Hospital. Upon contacting the clinic for an emergency appointment, the receptionist, Pam, reportedly dismissed the situation and refused to see the dog due to a lack of open appointments. The reviewer also noted that the receptionist offered an unqualified opinion that the incident was unrelated to the vaccines. Subsequently, the pet owner sought care at a specialist (Blue Pearl), whose qualified opinion was that the seizure was indeed a reaction to the vaccines.

The negative review further detailed difficulties in obtaining the dog's medical records for transfer to the treating specialist. The receptionist allegedly responded rudely and stated that the records might not be available for 7-10 days, despite the urgent need for them. The reviewer also reported inconsistencies and unhelpful behavior when attempting to speak with the office manager. This customer expressed extreme dissatisfaction and stated they would never return to the practice, also warning other pet owners about potential issues with emergency response.

Considering these two contrasting reviews, it appears that Berkley Animal Hospital may have strengths in providing patient and sensitive care for animals with specific needs, as highlighted by the positive review, including the provision of a separate waiting area for anxious pets. This suggests an awareness and accommodation of different temperaments and anxieties in animals, which is a valuable feature for many pet owners.

However, the detailed negative review raises significant concerns regarding the clinic's handling of emergency situations and their customer service practices, particularly concerning the initial response to a potentially vaccine-related adverse event and the subsequent difficulties in obtaining medical records promptly. This account also highlights a potential issue with a staff member providing unqualified medical opinions and exhibiting unprofessional behavior.

As a "Pet Hospital," Berkley Animal Hospital likely offers a range of general veterinary services, which typically include routine wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, and treatment for illnesses and injuries. The positive mention of accommodating a nervous dog and bunnies suggests they are equipped to handle animals with behavioral challenges. The negative review involved vaccine administration, indicating that this is one of their services. However, the clinic's capacity to handle emergencies effectively, at least in the situation described, is called into question by the negative feedback.

The environment of Berkley Animal Hospital can be partially inferred from the positive review, which mentions a separate, private waiting room for scared or special needs pets. This suggests that the clinic has made efforts to create a more comfortable and less stressful environment for certain animals. However, the negative review does not provide details about the overall clinic environment.

Features of Berkley Animal Hospital that can be identified from the reviews include a staff described as "extremely friendly and accommodating" and sensitive to individual animal needs, as well as the availability of a separate waiting room for nervous pets. However, a potential negative feature, based on one customer's experience, could be inconsistent or inadequate handling of emergency situations and unprofessional customer service in certain instances.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for Berkley Animal Hospital based on the provided reviews. Local users are encouraged to contact the hospital directly to inquire about any current promotions, new client specials, or wellness plans they might offer. It would also be prudent for potential clients to ask about their emergency protocols and how they handle urgent situations during their regular business hours.

In conclusion, Berkley Animal Hospital in Berkley, MI, appears to have strengths in providing compassionate and accommodating care, particularly for pets with anxiety or special needs, as evidenced by the positive review and the separate waiting area. However, the detailed negative review raises serious concerns about their handling of a potential emergency and their customer service practices in that instance. Local pet owners considering Berkley Animal Hospital should weigh these contrasting experiences and perhaps seek further information about their emergency protocols and customer service standards before making a decision about their pet's care.

I would like to share the absurd, concerning and unacceptable treatment I received from this practice today. As a long time customer, I am horrified and shocked at this practice's response to an emergency situation that occurred with my dog today. Less than 48 hours after my dog received three vaccines at this practice, my dog had a likely seizure. When I phoned the practice to ask for an emergency appointment, the receptionist, whose name is Pam, was absolutely dismissive, stating that the practice refused to see my dog due to lack of any open appointments. Pam also added her own unqualified and non-medical opinion that this incident was in no way related to the vaccines (an opinion she had no business making and is not qualified to provide). After being refused any sort of additional assistance from this practice, I proceeded to take my dog to a specialist at Blue Pearl, who qualified opinion was that this was indeed a reaction to the vaccines given. Upon returning home later in the evening, I called Berkley Animal Hospital and once again had to speak with Pam. I requested that all my dog's records be provided to me so that I could transfer them to the treating vet tomorrow. Pam, with an astonishing rude tone, signed and said that they would be able to provide those records possibly within the next 7-10 days. When I informed her that I needed the records quickly so that my dog could be treated, she once again attempted to blow me off. At that point, I asked Pam who the office manager and her direct supervisor was. At first she stumbled, giving a false name of another employee, and then provided that her supervisor was Bri. She continued in her irritated and short tone that Bri was sitting beside her during this incident and would back up her behavior. I requested that Bri call me regardless to discuss the treatment, and lack thereof, that I received today. As a long time dog owner and a long time patient of this practice, I am absolutely livid at how I was treated today and will never be returning to this practice again. If you have an animal being treated here, please be warned. If there is any type of emergency, they may refuse to see your precious animal just as they refused mine. I will continue to wait to collect the records I have requested and to speak to the office manager. I am shocked, livid and appalled at this practice and would not only not recommend them, but would continue to say that their lack of responsibility, and lack of any appropriate response in an emergency puts pets lives in danger.

Multiple bad experiences with this vet....once assured us that our dog was given a vaccine and come to find was not which was required in order to board him. Then, instead of taking accountability for it, were rude and avoidant.

Unfortunately, the team and systems used at Berkley Animal Clinic are NOT designed for the safety of Animals. My dog's life was put in serious risk when I brought her in for a routine visit and shared I believed my dog was pregnant. The vet did not run the test required to validate this but shared she did not believe my dog was pregnant. I was charged over 400 for my visit and was charged for testing they were not able to complete. My dog gave birth 2 weeks later to a little of 9 puppies of which one died. I'd like to belive if my dog had proper care leading up to her giving birth that puppy could have made it... I told the office and they didn't care, nor correct the over charge, or apologize for putting my dog and her puppies lives in danger... You can go here if you want to, but I will never go back.

Not really sure what happened but my fiancé took my dog and it was $500 before she left. I don’t even know what happened with my dog because she acted the same before she went and after. I might go so far as to say that they’re in cahoots with my fiancé in an elaborate money-laundering scheme.
