I just got my animals back from the Bug Snip event. I understand that this is a courtesy service provided to the community, however as a former animal professional myself this is extremely disturbing. I can not believe that someone that is in charge of caring for multi-million dollar animals would provide such an abysmal service to the community. I can't imagine what the Rodeo world would do if this was how one of the athletic animals was treated. After finding out that my cat had been done since before noon today and also that my dog was not done until after 6:30pm. This means that he was held in a kennel for 11 and half hours. When my daughter went in to get our dog she found him in his kennel full of urine as well as the dog being covered in urine. This is not only unsanitary but extremely unsafe with a fresh open wound from the surgery. I will be filing a formal complaint with the State board of Veterinary Medicine on Monday November 4th.

Dr Espy took care of my horses for many years and I never had one single issue with his treatments or advice. He tells it like it is and if he thinks a treatment will not work he tells you so to save you money and heartache.

Now that I see the other bad reviews rolling in I know it wasn’t just me. Got in a text argument with me over treatment two other vets previously concurred with (horse not only healed but has not had a reoccurrence so apparently they were correct) but when I reached out for some reproductive work he states “ I haven’t spoken to you in 3 months since you disagreed with me about the habronema”. I have all the texts proof. My opinion his behavior was not the most emotionally mature. Felt to me that he thought I had some magical power over vets and they just did what I told them to. No, not at all. Opinions will never be facts in this situation, no matter how strongly you believe them Dr. Espy. Debrident not only was the treating vets choice, recommended by her with no prompting by me and was a vet in another state but when I asked for a second opinion from my local vet he agreed. I was simply asking him to continue the treatment and he refused. Horse healed beautifully under the original recommendation. And to think I was trying to give him business simply so I don’t only call for emergencies. I don’t call him at all now and seeing these other reviews sure sounds like a behavior trend is forming. For reference one of the vets he disagreed with had been a vet longer than he has but that won’t stop him from trying to tell you about how he has “been out of school for 26 years”. The other had been practicing for ages as well so it wasn’t like they were fresh out of school vets either. My opinion not only was it rude and condescending to me as a horse owner trying to make the best choice for the horse, but completely disrespectful to his fellow vets who actually looked at and treated the horse.

PSA for those in Texas on the vet below, would absolutely not recommend. We had an urgent issue with one of our horses this morning and tried to get in to see him. We showed him the photos of the laceration/puncture so he knew what we needed. Having no history with us he accused us of asking him to treat an old wound (it isn’t old, happened between last night’s feeding and this morning’s) as an urgent matter. Then when we wouldn’t allow that he accused of us vet hopping due to unpaid bills at other veterinarians. We don’t have any of those, retired USAF Lt Col and pay my bills. Our farm call/after hours vet is in Pennsylvania on holiday and our regular vet is closed for the holiday (he has very graciously agreed to come in for our girl, Dr Glover at Animal Crossing is absolutely amazing and we love him). To top it all off he made mention of him pulling up to the “King” ranch and he probably didn’t have time for us anyway. Incredibly frustrating…
