Belle Haven Animal Medical Centre is Outstanding. I’ve personally used them for 8 years, 2 different dogs and have received nothing but great care, knowledge and dog side manners. They are thorough with their checkups on your pets, recommend the best products to keep your pet in tip top health. Dr Baumsteiger is a 10 out of 10, my dogs loving going to visit her.

After relocating to the Alexandria-area last year, I needed to find a new vet for my dog. As BHAMC came highly recommended, I was optimistic about bringing my senior dog there as a new patient. I was very happy after my initial appointment as the doctor we saw was very kind and thorough, asking a lot of questions to get to know my sweet boy. My second visit, a month or so later, to symptomatically treat some tummy troubles was awful. After speaking to me for only a few minutes, the vet tech took my dog into their back area for exams and Dr. Grimm came back later, sans dog, insisting that I allow them to do a blood panel, x-rays, and later return for an ultrasound that would cost me thousands of dollars. When I explained that I wanted to start by treating his symptoms first, I was made to feel as if I was being irresponsible by not proceeding with their recommendations. Never in my entire experience of having animals had I ever felt so terrible. As I had just lost two of my three dogs just a few months prior, I was already feeling tremendous guilt and grief, and my experience that day was just that much more overwhelming. At the end of the appointment, they gave my boy some meds and special food, and he was fine in a few days. Still an expensive visit, but not as much as they wanted it to be. And several months later, when I called looking for advice for an urgent injury, they told me to call another facility and gave me no information whatsoever. I wish my experience had been like all of these other 5-star reviews, but alas, not so much.

Dr Grimm is always very knowledgeable, she listens and is very caring. I trust her with the care of my two dogs - who are my life! The Vet techs and front desk staff are professional and warm. I highly recommend this practice! Debbie King ,Jadie and LuLu Lemon
