You guys charged me $800 and told me Reggie had 3-6 months to live because of chronic kidney disease due to Lyme disease. It has been over 2 years and he is fine after treatment with $8 worth of Ivermectin. Feel free to return the difference of $792.

As a Pet Hospital, Baraboo Valley Veterinary Clinic aims to serve the Baraboo, Wisconsin community with a range of veterinary services. The customer reviews available online offer contrasting yet insightful perspectives on the clinic's approach and outcomes.
One pet owner shared a critical experience where their dog, Reggie, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease due to Lyme disease and given a prognosis of 3-6 months to live, costing them $800. This reviewer stated that after treating Reggie with $8 worth of Ivermectin, the dog was "fine" over two years later, suggesting a potential misdiagnosis or a significantly different treatment outcome. The customer sarcastically requested a refund of the difference.
In stark contrast, another pet owner expressed immense gratitude towards the "amazing people" at Baraboo Valley Veterinary Clinic. Their puppy, Whiskey, was suffering from an intestinal blockage and was believed to be near death after 16 hours at two other veterinary facilities. Baraboo Valley Veterinary Clinic was described as the "only place that showed us compassion from the start." They listened to the owners and, after an evaluation, determined that euthanasia was not necessary, opting instead for surgery. The clinic performed the surgery on the same day, which ultimately saved Whiskey's life. The puppy is now reportedly "thriving and full of life" thanks to the clinic and its staff, whom the reviewer referred to as "angels."
Based on these two reviews, Baraboo Valley Veterinary Clinic, as a Pet Hospital, appears to have the capacity for both critical care and surgical intervention, as evidenced by Whiskey's story. The compassion shown to Whiskey's owners during a very distressing time is a significant positive aspect highlighted. However, the experience with Reggie raises concerns about diagnostic accuracy and treatment recommendations in at least one instance.
As a comprehensive Pet Hospital, Baraboo Valley Veterinary Clinic likely offers a range of services that would typically include diagnostics, surgery, and general medical care for pets. The successful surgery performed on Whiskey indicates surgical capabilities, and the initial diagnosis for Reggie suggests diagnostic procedures are also part of their services. It is reasonable to assume they also provide routine care such as vaccinations and wellness exams.
The environment of the clinic is not explicitly described in the reviews. However, the compassionate response to Whiskey's emergency suggests a caring and supportive atmosphere, at least in critical situations. The fact that they were willing and able to perform same-day surgery implies they have the necessary facilities and a responsive team.

However, the experience shared regarding Reggie's diagnosis suggests that, as with any medical facility, individual experiences can vary. It would be prudent for potential clients to seek further information directly from the clinic to determine if their services align with their pet's needs.
In conclusion, Baraboo Valley Veterinary Clinic in Baraboo, WI, is a Pet Hospital that has received both critical feedback regarding a diagnosis and high praise for its compassionate care and surgical abilities in an emergency. Jan 25, 2025 · Dr. Joel CooperI cannot say enough thank you’s to the amazing people who work here! My puppy Whiskey, had an intestinal blockage and was essentially dying. After 16 hours spent between 2 different vets, we thought euthanasia was the only option! Baraboo Valley was the only place that showed us compassion from the start!! They listened to us and after an evaluation said “no, he doesn’t need to be euthanized. We’re going to help you and do the surgery.” They were able to perform the surgery, same day, saving Whiskey! He is now thriving and full of life thanks to this clinic and the angels that work there! ❤️
Jan 08, 2025 · Joycelyn ArenasI am so glad I switched vets! First of all, the tech who helped us with my dog, Ashley, was absolutely lovely. She was very skilled and full of the most helpful information that I could take home with me! She held Emma in a supportive, and comfortable position for Emma, while the doctor trimmed her nails in the room! Dr Emily is kind, thoreau, and proactive Emma really talk to these two, and I can't say it more than what I've said right now, but I would recommend Dr Emily to anyone. Unfortunately, my dog is a couple pounds overweight. And both Ashley, and Dr Emily, went the extra mile to educate, and gently guide me information and planning of her future caloric intake, and discussed how we could possibly get boots for her because her feet can get really cold in the snow. They even printed out the page on Amazon so I would know what to look for in the boot department. Thank you Dr Emily, and Ashley. You made us feel at right at home!
Dec 15, 2024 · Windy Lynn WarrenWe were in Wisconsin from out of state. While on vacation, our dog became ill. The front staff was very accommodating in scheduling an appointment for our dog. Dr. Emily was great! She took her time and explained everything. Thank you to all the staff! If we lived in the area we would definitely be bringing our pet here.
