In the end of July 2023, I had taken my dog to Banfield pet hospital in maplewood for a routine checkup and vet appt. During this time they offered to shave areas of my dog as he’s prone to hair matting, which I was initially thankful for; in retrospect, this decision has spiraled into an almost year long skin infection and irritation. The shaving they performed was botched and hacked up my dogs skin, resulting in the creation of a skin infection which has now lead into months long skin irritation and discomfort. Banfield failed to take responsibility for their actions and from there refused to appropriately treat and care for my dog unless we brought him back to their facility, which I was uncomfortable doing. We asked multiple rounds of questions regarding my pets care over the phone with assurance they would call back and assist which never occurred, even after repeated follow up. I sent the below photos to show proof of their “care” to which there was no acknowledgement of their actions. Since then his skin is incredibly infected and now his fur is falling out. Overall incredibly displeased and disappointed in the care given to my pet and I would warn others to consider another veterinarian or Banfield location.

The Maplewood location offers a range of veterinary services for pets and operates under a model that includes wellness plans for ongoing care. While the provided information doesn't detail the specific environment of this particular clinic, Banfield hospitals generally aim to provide accessible veterinary care within a standardized framework.

As a pet hospital, Banfield offers a variety of services that typically include routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, and treatment for illnesses and injuries. A significant aspect of Banfield's model is their Optimum Wellness Plans, which are membership programs designed to make preventative care more affordable through monthly payments that cover certain services like examinations, vaccinations, and some diagnostic tests. These plans are intended to encourage regular veterinary visits and proactive health management for pets.

Based on the information available, it's important to consider the spectrum of customer experiences at the Banfield Pet Hospital in Maplewood. One customer reported a highly negative experience following a routine check-up in July 2023. This review alleges that a shave intended to prevent hair matting was improperly performed, leading to a persistent skin infection and irritation lasting for many months. The customer expressed significant dissatisfaction with Banfield's alleged lack of responsibility and their handling of follow-up care, citing a refusal to provide appropriate treatment outside their facility and a failure to return phone calls regarding their pet's condition. This review serves as a critical point of consideration for potential clients.

Conversely, another customer mentioned "great customer service from staff," indicating a positive interaction with the administrative or support personnel at the clinic. This suggests that while some aspects of care may be a concern for some individuals, others have found the staff to be helpful and courteous.

Another review highlighted both a positive and a negative aspect of their experience. The customer signed up for a monthly wellness plan but expressed significant disappointment with the four-week delay in receiving their cat's dental x-ray pictures. Additionally, they raised concerns about the communication and billing process for additional dental work needed during a cleaning. The customer reported being informed of a $600 charge for a tooth extraction over the phone, after the procedure, and felt they should have received a bill and explanation upfront. They also expressed discomfort with the payment options presented, feeling pressured to make an immediate decision without a clear understanding of the costs involved. While this customer intended to return for other services, the issues with transparency and communication regarding dental care were significant points of dissatisfaction.

Features of Banfield Pet Hospitals generally include their wellness plans, which aim to provide a predictable cost for routine care. They also often have extended hours compared to some smaller, independent clinics and can offer the convenience of accessing veterinary care across their various locations if pet owners move or travel. The integration of medical records across Banfield locations can be seen as a potential benefit for pets who receive care at multiple facilities.

Great customer service from staff!!! I signed up for the monthly wellness plan. I were super disappointed that it took FOUR weeks for me to see my cats dental x-ray pictures. Also, when doing the dental cleaning and there's more work to be done. Email the customer the bill right away and then explain to them over the phone what's going on. When you call me and told me it's going to cost $600 to pull a cat side tooth. That's more than a human tooth being pulled. I should have been able to see the bill right away and why it cost so much. I shouldn't be left with the choice of pay $800 today for teeth pulling and x-rays or come back later and pay $1,200. I denied to pull the tooth that day because I wanted to see the bill and the x-rays. I'll come back and do other services.

Brooke at the front desk was super friendly and treated me and my puppy like friends while also being super informative and helpful! Dr. Kaplan was super informative and made sure all of my questions were answered and gave me all the information I needed to make sure I was taking the right steps in my puppies care and helped me understand when to get my puppy spayed. Aliccia the doctors assistant (I think) was awesome! Cared for me and my puppy and walked me through the wellness plan as well as other options and what’s all included in her care, as well as getting me some reading materials on the options I get with my plan. Also she wrote my puppies name on her bag and just made the whole visit so great !!

I’ve been bringing my 2 dogs here since 2020. The staff, including the doctors are great. They are friendly and so patient with my furbabies.

My sweet dog, Sophia was attacked by two dogs who jumped our fence. She was treated for bites to her neck and leg. The staff and Vet at Maplewood, MN were compassionate and kind.
