They’re nice people for the most part. I’m not sure if the nurse with the septum likes me. He was cool until after I explained Mochi’s raw diet (which is very nutrient-rich), and then he kinda changed. So maybe it has something to do with that. 😕 But they need to keep in mind that when sitting in room3 , even if you’re whispering, we can hear allll your conversations. Including meme jokes, explanations of the meme jokes, expletives, oohing and ahhing and cheering and clapping over somebody’s new baby that was just born early by C-section, and telling everybody you have to pee because you haven’t in a while. Remember that we can hear not only how you’re speaking to our pets, but what you’re saying *about* our pets. 😊 Example: Nurse 1: “ew get away from me.” Nurse 2: “Aww, why? She’s nice!” Nurse 1: “I don’t care . . . (inaudible)” I was going to leave my review at that, but I just realized that a bottle of medication was sitting open. It has all kinds of hazards on it so I googled it and it’s pinworm medicine. Although it’s not toxic, we came in for an ear infection check up so I would think that it should not even be in the room, much less left open.

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce

Welcome to an introduction of Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 5415 W Loop S in Houston, Texas (TX 77081). As a well-established pet hospital chain, Banfield aims to provide a range of veterinary services to ensure the health and well-being of pets in the local community. You can reach this specific Houston location at (713) 661-2393 or their mobile number +1 713-661-2393 for inquiries or to schedule an appointment for your animal companion.

The environment of a pet hospital is a crucial aspect for pet owners, influencing their comfort and confidence in the care their animals receive. Customer reviews of this Houston Banfield Pet Hospital offer mixed insights into the clinic's atmosphere and staff interactions. One reviewer noted that the people are "nice for the most part," suggesting a generally friendly demeanor among some staff members. However, this reviewer also described an interaction with a nurse whose attitude seemed to change after learning about the pet's raw food diet, indicating potential biases or a lack of open-mindedness regarding different feeding philosophies. This highlights the importance of a respectful and non-judgmental approach from veterinary staff towards pet owners' choices.

Another significant observation from a customer pertains to the lack of privacy in the examination rooms. The reviewer explicitly mentioned being able to clearly hear conversations, including personal anecdotes, jokes, and even exclamations, from the staff in an adjacent room. This raises concerns about the professional conduct and awareness of staff regarding noise levels and the potential for overheard conversations by clients, which could impact the overall client experience and perception of the clinic's professionalism. Furthermore, overhearing a staff member's negative comment about a pet ("ew get away from me") is deeply concerning and suggests a lack of appropriate bedside manner and sensitivity towards animals.

In terms of the physical environment, one reviewer noted finding an open bottle of pinworm medication in the examination room during a visit for an ear infection check-up. This is a potential safety hazard, especially for curious pets, and also indicates a lapse in attention to detail regarding the cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms. The presence of medication unrelated to the pet's visit further suggests a lack of thorough preparation and safety protocols for each appointment.

On a more positive note, another customer expressed strong satisfaction with Dr. Gregory and the staff at this Banfield location, describing them as "attentive, sweet, wonderful, and kind" to their dog and cat. This long-term client of ten years consistently feels that their "furbabies are in good hands," indicating that positive and caring interactions do occur at this clinic. This positive feedback suggests that while there may be inconsistencies, some members of the team are indeed providing excellent care and building strong relationships with their clients.

As a national chain, Banfield Pet Hospitals typically offer a range of standard veterinary services. These generally include routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, nutritional counseling, and treatment for common illnesses and injuries. The specific services mentioned in the reviews include a check-up for an ear infection and the dispensing of pinworm medication (though inappropriately left open). The positive review from a long-term client implies that this location likely provides comprehensive general veterinary care for both dogs and cats. However, the reviews do not offer specific details about advanced diagnostic capabilities or surgical procedures available at this particular Banfield Pet Hospital in Houston.

Features of Banfield Pet Hospitals often include wellness plans, which are designed to make preventative care more affordable through monthly payments covering services like check-ups, vaccinations, and parasite control. While not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, it is common for Banfield locations to promote these plans. The convenience of being part of a large network with potentially accessible electronic health records across different locations can also be a feature for some pet owners. However, one of the negative reviews indirectly touches upon staff behavior and professionalism as a key feature, highlighting the inconsistencies that can occur.

From a promotional standpoint, the positive testimonial from the long-term client serves as a strong endorsement, emphasizing the attentive, sweet, wonderful, and kind nature of Dr. Gregory and the staff, as well as the feeling of trust in their care. This personal recommendation can be a significant draw for potential clients. However, the negative reviews detailing unprofessional behavior, lack of privacy, and potential safety hazards in the examination rooms present significant challenges to any positive promotional messaging. Addressing these issues would be crucial for building and maintaining a positive reputation within the local community.

For local users in Houston, TX, considering Banfield Pet Hospital on W Loop S, it is important to weigh the positive feedback regarding some staff members against the concerns raised about privacy, unprofessional interactions, and safety protocols. The convenience of the location and the potential for wellness plans may be attractive to some pet owners. However, it would be prudent to inquire about the clinic's policies on staff conduct, privacy during consultations, and safety measures in examination rooms before making a decision about your pet's care. The contrasting experiences suggest that while some clients have had positive interactions and feel their pets are well-cared for, others have encountered issues that raise concerns about the overall quality of the environment and staff professionalism.

In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital at 5415 W Loop S in Houston, TX, offers general veterinary services for dogs and cats. While some customers have experienced positive interactions with attentive and caring staff, there are also significant concerns raised regarding a lack of privacy, unprofessional behavior among some staff members, and potential safety lapses in examination rooms. Local pet owners should consider these mixed reviews and perhaps seek further information or clarification from the clinic regarding their practices and protocols to ensure it aligns with their expectations for their pet's healthcare.

This is the worst Banfield location I’ve ever experienced. I scheduled an appointment online for my sick dog and was called an hour later to get all his info and confirm it. An hour after that, I got another call telling me no one confirmed it and they were too busy, I need to come tomorrow. I explained my dog was sick and we could not wait. I also said you did call me, got all his info and confirmed. They put me on hold and verified that was the truth, but they didn’t care because they were too busy and told me to go somewhere else or the ER. The online system still showed availability, she said that didn’t work and I have an email showing my appointment was confirmed and she said that wasn’t them? Pics for proof attached. Regarding insurance: My dog has been on their wellness plan for years. He had in fact had his checkup 10 days prior to becoming sick. I did end up taking him to the ER and found out he had a rupture in his heart and was bleeding internally. This was likely caused by a cancer that spread to his heart. This was never detected in any of his exams and I do pay for their wellness plus plan. I feel like I just wasted so much time and money on that plan. Oh and when I messaged the online chat she told me if I cancel I need to pay for all services used to date which meant I owed them another $350? UPDATE: I emailed the Banfield Cares team and got a message they are sending my concerns to the store. Not sure what good that will do.

Very rude receptionist. I was politely explaining why I missed the drop off and was cut off by “ do you need to reschedule or not” and then abruptly hung up. Also, I have been there three times and never spoke to a doctor. What a strange thing. I always see the doctors at any other veterinary and usually they explain me what is wrong and what is best for my pet. The second time I went I wasn’t even told why I was given deworm medication. Did my dog had worms? I just wished my experience with this place could become better with time. But it isn’t.

I've been coming here for years. This PetSmart location overall but especially Banfield has drastically changed post pandemic. High turnover, they're likely not paid well enough. We used to see the same staff for years and they knew my dog by name and she was always happy to see them. Now there's a new person up front and in the back every 6 months it seems ALSO, this is not a proper place for pet care. My dog had an underlying issue that was present for years but was not picked up until I visited another vet, and then yet another vet. I would only rely on them for the wellness checks and vaccines and nothing else- and even then, a checkup at a different vet might be warranted. Actual pet insurance is better than their Wellness Plan that you have to pay for in full no matter what
