New Customers to Banfield, i usually take my dog to Vangaurd but was recommended by a family friend. My Frenchie was seen for an ear infection and was so happy and pleased with the staff, how nice & patient they were and made the booking on the phone very smoothly. I was also told about the OWP they have and was so happy that I signed my dog up for it! It truly saved me a lot of money, than what I would of been charged at my other vet clinic. Dr. Martinez was very informative and easy to talk to and so helpful picking the best plan for my dog. My dog was in the best care with this team!! We will definitely be returning customers, thank you Banfield Team! Scrappy doo is happy & sleeping comfortably from his long day :)

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce

Banfield Pet Hospital, conveniently located at 5435 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78253, serves the local community as a part of the Pet Hospital category. With contact phone numbers (210) 681-0422 and +1 210-681-0422, they aim to be a readily accessible veterinary care provider for pet owners in the area.

As a Pet Hospital, Banfield typically offers a comprehensive suite of services to address the health and wellness needs of pets. These generally include routine check-ups, vaccinations tailored to individual pet needs, dental care services, parasite prevention, and treatment for various illnesses and injuries. Banfield is also widely known for its Optimum Wellness Plans (OWP), which are designed to make preventative care more affordable through bundled services offered at a predictable monthly or annual cost. These plans often cover essential services like examinations, core vaccinations, and certain diagnostic tests, and can be customized based on the pet's age, species, and specific health requirements.

The environment of a Banfield Pet Hospital is usually designed to be welcoming and efficient for both pets and their owners. You can typically expect clean and organized waiting areas, comfortable examination rooms equipped for veterinary assessments, and potentially on-site facilities for basic laboratory work and dispensing medications. The goal is to provide a professional and reassuring setting for pet healthcare visits.

A key feature of Banfield Pet Hospitals, being a part of a national network, is their standardized approach to veterinary care and the potential for continuity of medical records across different locations. They often emphasize preventative medicine and aim to partner with pet owners in maintaining their animals' long-term health and well-being. The Optimum Wellness Plans are a significant feature, intended to encourage regular check-ups and proactive healthcare management.

However, it's important to consider all available feedback when evaluating a veterinary service provider. Recent customer reviews for this specific Banfield Pet Hospital location at 5435 W Loop 1604 N in San Antonio, TX, present contrasting experiences. One new customer shared a highly positive experience, mentioning they usually take their dog to another clinic but were recommended to Banfield by a friend. They were pleased with the smooth booking process over the phone and were particularly happy with the staff's niceness and patience during their Frenchie's ear infection treatment. This reviewer also enthusiastically enrolled their dog in the Optimum Wellness Plan, noting significant cost savings compared to their previous vet clinic. They specifically praised Dr. Martinez for being informative, easy to talk to, and helpful in choosing the best plan for their dog, expressing overall satisfaction with the care received and indicating they would become returning customers.

In stark contrast, another customer reported a very negative experience, describing the customer service at the "5435 W Loop Culebra" location (presumably the same address) as the "worst." This reviewer stated that their dog had bloody diarrhea, and they experienced an unacceptable delay of an hour before the front desk staff even inquired about the reason for their visit, during which time the staff member was allegedly engaged in a phone conversation. This customer expressed significant disappointment in paying for a monthly plan while receiving such poor service.

These conflicting reviews highlight a potential inconsistency in the customer service experience at this Banfield Pet Hospital location. While one customer found the staff to be friendly, patient, and efficient, particularly praising the veterinarian and the benefits of the Optimum Wellness Plan, another experienced a severe lack of attentiveness and professionalism from the front desk staff, especially in a situation involving a potentially serious health issue for their pet.

The positive review serves as a testament to the potential benefits of Banfield's services, particularly the Optimum Wellness Plans which can offer cost savings on routine care and the informative approach of some veterinarians like Dr. Martinez. The smooth booking process and the positive initial impression also indicate that some aspects of their service are well-received.

On the other hand, the negative review raises serious concerns about the responsiveness and professionalism of the front desk staff, which is often the first point of contact for pet owners seeking care. A significant delay in addressing a pet's urgent medical issue, coupled with perceived inattentiveness, can lead to a very distressing experience for pet owners and calls into question the overall service quality and the value of a wellness plan if basic customer service expectations are not met.

Prospective customers considering Banfield Pet Hospital at 5435 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX, should take these contrasting experiences into account. The Optimum Wellness Plans may offer financial benefits for routine care, and some customers have reported positive interactions with the veterinary staff. However, the negative feedback regarding customer service, particularly in potentially urgent situations, warrants consideration. It may be prudent to inquire about their customer service protocols and emergency handling procedures when deciding on a veterinary care provider. For specific details on the Optimum Wellness Plans and any other promotional offers, contacting the hospital directly is recommended.

In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital at 5435 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX, offers a range of veterinary services, including their Optimum Wellness Plans. While some customers have reported positive experiences with friendly and efficient staff and cost-saving wellness plans, others have expressed significant concerns about poor customer service, particularly at the front desk. Local pet owners should weigh these contrasting reviews and consider their individual needs and priorities when choosing a veterinary care provider. Contacting the hospital directly for more information about their services and policies is advisable.

5435 W Loop Culebra has the worst customer service. My dog had bloody diarrhea, and the front desk lady took an hour to ask me why I was there for? Meanwhile, she was talking on the phone. It is very disappointing to pay a monthly plan for poor service.

I took my dog to here for a routine exam, and the experience was disappointing. The vet, Dr. Kiran Babu Seshareddy, recommended treatments based on outdated diagnoses rather than my dogs current condition. I was misled into treatments that weren't necessary. Overall, this experience has caused me to lose trust in Banfield's practices, and I no longer feel comfortable taking my pets there. Be sure to ask a lot of questions about why treatments are being recommended prior to agreeing to them.

Called them and was put on hold for over 10 mins. There is no establishment that can hold a customer without getting back to them after a good 5 mins. It’s just rude to do that. I ended up canceling the call and move on to a different clinic.
