I have two pets currently on optimum wellness plans with Banfield. We originally signed them up here as first time pet owners thinking this would help us assure we would be able to get all of their needs met throughout the first year of their lives, while they do an okay job with the care to my pets, the customer service is AWFUL. Every time I schedule an appointment I’m called a day/two days before asking if another time works because they filled my slot? I am taking time off work to be able to attend these appointments. I understand on occasion having a mess up but it’s nearly every appointment and is very unprofessional. Another huge problem I have is the billing. I’ve been charged a late fee twice now on the morning that my bill is due? It is not late. And it won’t allow me to pay my normal bill without paying this “late fee”. I would highly recommend steering clear of Banfield. There are lots of better options for your pets, your wallets and your time.

We have been with Banfield for approximately 9 years now. When our dog was/is healthy it’s been fine. The troubles arose when we most needed a competent vet. Our dog suffers from severe anxiety and reactivity. We managed it when it with training and avoidance when it was just my wife and I, but when my wife got pregnant, we requested anxiety medication because we knew we weren’t going to have the time or energy to devote to training and exercise. We were denied, saying “you need to just work on behavioral training.” When the baby was born, we were denied again, for the same reason. We should have switched vets at that time, but we were locked into their optimum wellness plan and decided to stick with it. (EDIT: This was with a Banfield in the Portland, OR area) Ultimately, we were correct and our lack of time and energy led to a more anxious dog which culminated in an incident with our now at this time 18 month old. Finally, after the incident, the vet finally prescribed us fluoxetine. After approximately 2 years of requesting medication. Several years go by and our dog isn’t having issues, she’s *much* better behaved on the fluoxetine and we’re having no issues. Until very recently, she’s become ill as an elderly 11 year old dog. (EDIT: From this point, we are now with the Meridian, ID location) A usually food motivated dog has no interest in food. We spend nearly $1,000 on X-rays and blood work. X-rays negative, blood work shows elevated white blood cell count so they send us home with antibiotics. Antibiotics don’t work and at the follow up they say, “she’s healthy, here’s an appetite stimulant.” She hasn’t eaten in two, nearly three days. Final straw, we’re finally doing what we should have done long ago and finding a new vet. Find a local vet that will actually care about your pet and your family and avoid Banfield. Banfield is corporate chain pet care. 2nd Edit: my dog has cancer and Banfield didn’t catch it. I took her to another vet and they found a mass in her spleen, the reason she wasn’t eating. I can’t believe I was told she was healthy and just given a ln appetite stimulant. I am heartbroken, I feel like if I had had a more competent vet this could have been caught sooner.

We will not be renewing our wellness plans for both of our cats once it runs out. Constant problems with “late fees” when we pay ON TIME and constantly getting rescheduled when we make appointments. We would have seriously saved so much money without the plan and the only reason why we still are here is because of the contract. If you’re considering banfield, i recommend looking at the reviews and multiple lawsuits against them before signing anything. It’s not just nyberg, it’s banfield as a whole.

I’m really happy I picked Bandield as my vet clinic. The vet who did my cats Spey was really kind and worked with me on the cost. I have the optimum wellness plan and it covers all routine appointments but lets you pay per month. Everyone’s so nice too.

Saw the vet Amy Burkarst.. for 5 min literally. Came in , her team offer me a wellness plan I politely denied. Then here comes bet Amy , into the room for 5 min shine a light in my cats eye to diagnose him with Pannus . So she referred me to an ophthalmologist. This Knowledgeable ophthalmologist came into the room laughing because Pannus is a diagnosis only in DOGS! Wow... an extra visit and more time and more MONEY. to go see a different clinic for them to treat my cat for the same concern I came into banefield for. Do better banefield. Don't offer care you wouldn't give to your own animal. Beyond disappointed.
