Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 119 SW Loop 410 Bldg 3, San Antonio, TX 78245, USA, has been serving the local pet community for a significant period. Their contact numbers are (210) 680-0036 and +1 210-680-0036. For pet owners in San Antonio seeking a Pet Hospital, it's essential to consider various aspects of the clinic, including the environment, services, features, and any available insights from other pet owners. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the recent customer reviews available online.
Information regarding the physical environment of this Banfield Pet Hospital location is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. One customer mentions that this location has been their primary Pet Hospital since 2022, implying a degree of familiarity and presumably a satisfactory environment for their pet's care. However, specific details about the clinic's cleanliness, comfort, or overall atmosphere are not elaborated upon. Potential clients may wish to visit the facility or inquire directly about the environment to ensure it meets their expectations for their pet's comfort and well-being.
The reviews offer a mixed perspective on the services provided by this Banfield Pet Hospital. On the positive side, one long-term customer (since 2008) explicitly states that "the vets and staff are great." This suggests that the quality of veterinary care and the professionalism of the team are generally well-regarded. The same reviewer also notes a recent improvement in the consistency of care with the arrival of a resident Vet and Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), indicating a positive development in the clinic's service delivery. Additionally, the front desk staff, particularly Izzy, are consistently described as "super kind and helpful," highlighting a positive aspect of the customer service experience.
However, a significant portion of one review focuses on concerns related to medication pricing and billing practices. The customer recounts an incident where they were initially given 50 heartworm pills at a certain price, only to be told on a subsequent visit that they should have received only 30 pills at a higher proportional cost. The customer's request to purchase the additional 20 pills at the initially charged rate was denied by a manager who was reportedly unavailable for direct communication. This incident raises concerns about potential errors in dispensing medication and a lack of customer service responsiveness regarding billing discrepancies.
Furthermore, the review questions the validity of a claimed "20% discount" on pet medications. The customer's independent research revealed that the same heart medication was available at a lower price elsewhere (Walmart) even without the purported discount. Similar findings were reported for flea and tick medication when compared to online retailers, suggesting that the advertised discount may not translate to competitive pricing. The reviewer concludes that the pricing structure may be inflated to create the illusion of savings through the discount.
Another concerning point raised in the review pertains to the clinic's billing policy regarding their six-month payment plans. The customer states that if a pet dies during the billing period, the owner is still obligated to pay the full amount. This policy is described as "beyond insensitive" and adding "insult to heartbreak," indicating a lack of empathy in their financial practices during emotionally difficult times for pet owners.
Several features emerge from these reviews, both positive and negative. The presence of a seemingly competent and caring veterinary team, including a resident Vet and LVT, along with a friendly front desk staff, are positive aspects. However, significant concerns exist regarding the transparency and competitiveness of medication pricing, the handling of billing errors, and the insensitivity of the billing policy in the event of a pet's death. The advertised 20% discount on medications appears to be a point of contention, with at least one customer suggesting it does not lead to actual savings compared to other options.
Promotional information is limited and potentially misleading based on the customer feedback. The claim of a 20% discount on medications is directly challenged by a reviewer who found lower prices elsewhere without any discount. Therefore, local users should exercise caution and conduct their own price comparisons for medications and other goods before assuming they are receiving a significant benefit from this advertised discount. The positive mentions of the veterinary and front desk staff could be considered a form of positive word-of-mouth, but this is counterbalanced by the serious concerns raised about pricing and billing practices.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital on SW Loop 410 in San Antonio presents a mixed picture for local pet owners. While the veterinary and front desk staff are generally viewed positively, significant concerns exist regarding medication pricing, the transparency and actual value of advertised discounts, and potentially insensitive billing policies. Pet owners considering this location should be aware of these potential issues and may wish to conduct thorough research on medication costs and clarify billing policies before committing to their services. The recent improvement in consistency of care with the new resident Vet and LVT is a positive development, but it is crucial for potential clients to weigh this against the reported negative experiences with pricing and billing.

Apr 08, 2025 · Rian HernandezI went to get my pets meds. I first want to say the vets and staff are great. Last time they gave me 50 heart pills for about $58. This time they said apparently someone made a mistake and they should’ve given me 30 pills instead. I said then you should sell them to me at that price bc that was not my problem. A manager was called and said no way. I asked to speak to her but he tried twice and could not get a hold of her. He gave me her email and I sent her one and did not receive a response and that was some time ago. They claim to give you a 20% discount on your pets meds. They are lying to you. I went home and did my research and found my dog’s heart meds $5 cheaper than I was being charged at Banfield with my imaginary discount. Also flea and tick at Entirely pets same price with a 40% discount on your first shipment and than $20 a month just like them again with my discount. I have been with them since 2008 and have no issues other than this. I’m kind of glad that it happened bc I know now that they jack up the prices so you think your getting you discount as a benefit to you. It would have been nice if the manager at least would have responded to my email but I guess it was not important. I will keep taking my dog there but my dollars for medications will go elsewhere. Also, for the same price. Do your research. My pets heart pills are available at Walmart for cheaper. Also on another note if your pet dies during your 6 month billing you still have to pay. This is beyond insensitive and adds insult to heartbreak.
Mar 23, 2025 · Sheba EricksonWish i could give zero stars. This Pet Smart is the worst. The people that work in the pet care have NO compassion for pets at all. Went there to pick up my dogs medicine and said they said didn't have it on file. Yes, I spell my daughter's name different as it was under her name, but the girl that was helping me was very rude and was to busy on her phone listening to music. I will be going to a different Pet Smart from now on.
Apr 07, 2025 · kimberly williamsAlthough the vet was a sweetheart, the girl with colored hair in the front was extremely rude and insensitive which made our experience harder than it already was. The euthanasia service included a paw and nose print of our fur baby for free but they “forgot” it and no one was ever “informed” after they were the ones that asked us. Absolutely heartbreaking experience for us all. If i could give zero stars I would.
