Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital
Banfield Pet Hospital, situated at 12 S Village Dr Unit 400 in Salem, New Hampshire, operates within the platform category of Pet Hospitals and offers a range of veterinary services, including an on-site pharmacy for the convenience of pet owners. As a Pet Hospital, Banfield aims to provide comprehensive care for pets, addressing various health needs from routine check-ups to more complex medical issues. The inclusion of a pharmacy within the hospital setting allows for immediate access to prescribed medications, potentially streamlining the treatment process for pet owners.
One customer review offers a positive perspective, describing the staff at Banfield as "wonderful," "informative," and "polite." This reviewer expressed high satisfaction with the care their dog received and enthusiastically recommended the services to others, highlighting a genuine interest from the staff in the pet's well-being. This positive feedback suggests that some pet owners experience a caring and supportive environment at this Banfield location.
However, it is crucial to consider other feedback that presents significant concerns regarding the quality of care and communication at this specific Banfield Pet Hospital in Salem, NH. One deeply concerning review details a tragic experience where the customer's dog passed away from undiagnosed cancer. The reviewer alleges negligence in the diagnostic process and expresses frustration with being charged for services even after their pet's death. This account raises serious questions about the thoroughness of medical assessments and the handling of sensitive situations.
Another detailed and critical review outlines a series of negative experiences concerning the diagnosis and treatment of skin bumps and an ear infection in the reviewer's dog. This customer recounts instances of being repeatedly told that the bumps were normal by multiple doctors over several visits. When the dog's ear infection worsened and a different urgent care facility recommended testing the bumps, the experience with Banfield reportedly deteriorated further. The reviewer describes issues with communication between staff members, a lack of review of the pet's medical history by subsequent doctors, and a perceived dismissal of the need for diagnostic testing by one veterinarian who allegedly suggested the bumps were likely cancerous without proper examination.
This critical feedback paints a picture of potential disorganization in communication, a lack of continuity of care between different veterinarians within the same practice, and concerns about the thoroughness of initial diagnoses. The reviewer specifically criticizes the failure of the staff to mark the correct spots for a cytology test, despite clear instructions, and the subsequent dismissal of the test's utility by a veterinarian who allegedly offered a grim prognosis without adequate investigation. The reviewer's experience suggests a lack of empathy and helpfulness from at least one of the veterinarians encountered.
Despite these serious concerns, the reviewer indicated a willingness to return for basic vaccinations, suggesting that they might perceive Banfield as adequate for routine preventative care. However, they strongly cautioned against seeking treatment for more complex medical issues at this location, based on their negative experiences. This nuanced perspective highlights the importance of considering the specific needs of your pet when choosing a veterinary care provider.
Considering the availability of a pharmacy within Banfield Pet Hospital, this can be a significant convenience for pet owners when prescriptions are needed. An on-site pharmacy typically allows for immediate dispensing of medications prescribed during a consultation, saving pet owners a separate trip to an external pharmacy. This can be particularly beneficial when time is of the essence in starting treatment for a sick pet. The pharmacy would likely stock a range of medications commonly used in veterinary practice, including antibiotics, pain relievers, and medications for chronic conditions.
However, the negative experiences reported by some customers raise questions about the accuracy of diagnoses that lead to these prescriptions and the overall quality of care guiding the pharmaceutical recommendations. While the convenience of an on-site pharmacy is a potential benefit, it is crucial for pet owners to have confidence in the underlying veterinary assessments.
Information regarding the environment of Banfield Pet Hospital in Salem, NH, is limited to the customer reviews. The positive review suggests a welcoming atmosphere with a caring staff. In contrast, the negative review implies a potentially disorganized environment with communication breakdowns between staff members and a lack of coordinated care. Without further information, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive description of the clinic's physical space or overall operational efficiency.
Similarly, details about specific services offered beyond basic care and vaccinations are not extensively covered in the provided reviews. As a Pet Hospital, Banfield likely offers a range of services including routine check-ups, diagnostic testing (such as cytology, blood work, and potentially imaging), surgical procedures, and dental care. However, the negative reviews raise concerns about the quality and reliability of these more complex diagnostic and treatment services at this particular location.
No specific promotional information for Banfield Pet Hospital in Salem, NH, is included in the provided text. Banfield as a national chain often offers wellness plans that bundle preventative care services like vaccinations, routine examinations, and parasite prevention at a monthly fee. These plans can offer potential cost savings for pet owners who are committed to regular preventative care. It would be advisable for local users to contact the Banfield Pet Hospital in Salem directly at (603) 890-3744 or +1 603-890-3744 to inquire about available wellness plans and any other current promotions or discounts on their services or pharmacy products.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Salem, NH, as a Pet Hospital with an on-site pharmacy, offers the convenience of integrated veterinary services and medication dispensing. While one customer reported a positive experience with a caring and informative staff, other reviews raise significant concerns about diagnostic accuracy, communication between staff and veterinarians, continuity of care, and overall quality of treatment for more complex medical issues. Potential local users should carefully consider these contrasting experiences and may wish to inquire further about the clinic's protocols, staff communication practices, and the qualifications of the veterinarians before entrusting their pet's care to this facility beyond basic preventative measures like vaccinations.

All folks there are wonderful! I couldn't be more pleased. Informative, polite, genuinely interested in my dogs care. I recommend the service to all folks I know.
Apr 04, 2025 · Liam Holt05/22/25 I had to put my pet down months ago. Im calling to cancel his insurance because I thought it would cancel automatically. Banfield knows he's dead. I have to pay 300 dollars in monthly installments because 'services provided'. The negligence here led to my dog dying of undiagnosed cancer and now they are charging me for it. Never take your pet here unless it’s just for shots. Anything more complex than a shot and they are absolutely incompetent. I never leave google reviews but I feel compelled to do it here. My dog has had skin bumps and I’ve gone to them numerous times. I was told they’re not an issue and totally normal. Early December my dog got an ear infection and I took him in. During that visit again I was told that the bumps are normal again and given medication for his ear infection. His infection got worse and I took him to urgent care. At urgent care they said that I need to get those bumps tested. I reached out to this office I was told that I needed a cytology to determine what they are. I booked the cytology. The appointment was on a Monday so I called on Saturday to confirm everything. I went over medication, where the bumps are located, every single detail. I was told that when we take my dog in they will mark the spots for testing. At the drop off the person taking in my dog was directly shown what to test. He was there from 7:15AM. At 4PM we called because we had heard nothing and were told that the procedure wasn’t done because the doctor didn’t know which bump to test. Then the doctor gets on the phone and says that either way a cytology is useless because it’s probably cancer and unless I’m starting chemo that there’s nothing I can do. And I need to find a dermatologist for more information. She was callus, unhelpful, and spiteful at the fact that I was demanding answers. She also said that she can’t take responsibility for whatever other doctors in the same office have said about the situation. So they have a staff that 1- did not actually mark the bumps that were to be tested and didn’t communicate that to the doctor. Even though I have told them repeatedly and physically shown them. 2- A series of doctors that do not talk to each other about ongoing medical care and doctors that do not check medical history notes to at least understand what’s happening with their patients. 3- Doctors that suggest procedures and tests that are unhelpful. I’ll keep going here for basic shots but other than that this place is horrible. The Cambridge location is much better at finding solutions for more complex issues.
May 22, 2025 · Odalys TelloThe staff is always so kind and compassionate. The vast majority of my encounters with staff have been pleasant. Every place has its random bad apple, but overall I would highly recommend Banfield as well as their wellness plans. The wellness plans have saved me hundreds of dollars in normal vet bills. I am so grateful!
Jan 09, 2025 · Michelle YoungIf I could rate less than a star I would. It is very very disappointing how they can just raise prices and not let you become aware of them beforehand and only just tell you a week in advance. I have a voicemail as proof, I made a call to have an appointment scheduled for my dog for a mass removal and neuter to be done the same day and they have gave me a price and that was said back in November 2024. 2 Months later the appointment is coming up, just next week, and they give me a call a week before to confirm and they tell me a different price, almost $100 more than the price that was said before. They told they will give me a call back to figure everything out, they did...then proceed to tell me that it's a different price than before. They stated and I quote "Our prices have increased in the last few weeks" and I tell them but I had this appointment scheduled before the new year started with the set price that I was told and then they told me "Take it up with corporate"...okay.
Jan 11, 2025 · inda santanaStephanie just helped me in a way I could never imagine! My puppy needs his simparica (2 weeks overdue) and it’s been sold out in his size 😭 I didn’t know Stephanie could make an order through chewy with our wellness plan information and got it sent directly to my house 😭 I can literally cry with the peace of mind she just gave me 💕 Stephanie went above and beyond!!! Thank you so much from Milo 💕 (he can’t wait to go for a hike and smell the flowers) lol. The team at Tuscan Village goes so hard for everyone of their patients. 7 star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
