They are outstanding, at least in this location. I’ve been bringing my poodle here for over a year, since he was born, and they have always been kind and attentive. The receptionists are wonderful, scheduling appointments is easy, and it’s never a hassle to get advice from the vet when needed. Plus, their health plan has exceeded our expectations, covering all of his needs exceptionally well.

Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital
Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 145 Promenade Blvd in Bridgewater, NJ 08807, USA. As a Pet Hospital, Banfield aims to provide a range of veterinary services and pet-related goods to the local community. It's part of a larger network of veterinary hospitals, suggesting a standardized approach to pet care while aiming to cater to the specific needs of the Bridgewater area.
Based on the information available from customer reviews, the environment and overall experience at the Bridgewater location of Banfield Pet Hospital appear to have generated mixed reactions. One customer describes the experience as "outstanding," highlighting the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, the ease of scheduling appointments, and the accessibility of veterinary advice. This positive review also specifically praises their health plan for exceeding expectations and comprehensively covering their pet's needs. This suggests that for some pet owners, the clinic provides a well-organized and supportive environment with valuable healthcare plans.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge the presence of significantly negative feedback. One reviewer strongly advises others to "avoid" the clinic, expressing a highly unfavorable opinion. Another review echoes this sentiment, describing their experience as "the worst of the worst." A particularly concerning claim made by one reviewer is that "no licensed veterinarian actually works here," alleging the use of traveling veterinarians who are not invested in individual pets or clients. This review further details a frustrating experience involving a lengthy appointment where a necessary prescription could not be written, leading the customer to seek care elsewhere. This paints a picture of potential inconsistencies in staffing and service delivery, which could lead to significant inconvenience and unmet healthcare needs for some pet owners.
Given these contrasting experiences, it is challenging to provide a definitive description of the typical environment at this Banfield Pet Hospital. While one customer found the receptionists "wonderful" and the scheduling process "easy," the negative reviews suggest potential issues with the availability of consistent veterinary staff and the ability to provide timely and complete medical care. Prospective clients should be aware of these differing perspectives when considering this clinic.
The services offered at a Banfield Pet Hospital typically encompass a broad range of veterinary care, aligning with the standards of a comprehensive Pet Hospital. These generally include:
- Wellness and Preventative Care: This is often a central focus, with offerings like routine check-ups, vaccinations tailored to the pet's age and lifestyle, parasite prevention (for fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites), and nutritional counseling. The positive review specifically mentioned a health plan that covered these needs well, suggesting that Banfield emphasizes proactive healthcare through such plans.
- Diagnostic Services: To identify the underlying causes of illness or injury, Banfield Pet Hospitals are usually equipped with diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory testing (for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams) and imaging capabilities like digital radiography (X-rays). These services are essential for accurate diagnoses and the development of effective treatment plans.
- Medical Treatments: The clinic should offer medical management for a variety of pet illnesses, ranging from common infections to chronic conditions. This includes prescribing medications, providing supportive care, and monitoring the pet's progress. However, the negative review citing the inability to obtain a prescription raises concerns about the consistent availability of veterinarians authorized to prescribe medications at this specific location.
- Surgical Procedures: Most Banfield Pet Hospitals offer a range of surgical services, including routine procedures like spaying (ovariohysterectomy) and neutering (orchiectomy), as well as other soft tissue surgeries. The extent of surgical capabilities can vary by location, and it's advisable to inquire about the specific surgical services offered at the Bridgewater clinic.
- Dental Care: Maintaining oral health is crucial for pets' overall well-being. Services typically include dental examinations, professional teeth cleaning under anesthesia, and potentially the treatment of dental diseases.
- Pharmacy Services: For the convenience of pet owners, Banfield Pet Hospitals usually have an on-site pharmacy to dispense prescribed medications. This allows clients to obtain necessary medications immediately after their pet's appointment. However, the negative review regarding the inability to get a prescription filled on-site due to the absence of a permanently licensed veterinarian casts doubt on the reliability of this service at this particular location.
- Health and Wellness Plans: The positive review strongly praised Banfield's health plan, indicating that they offer subscription-based packages that cover various aspects of routine and preventative care for a fixed monthly or annual fee. These plans can include services like vaccinations, routine check-ups, parasite control, and dental cleanings, potentially offering cost savings for regular pet care. However, the value and effectiveness of these plans may depend on the consistent availability of veterinary staff to deliver the included services.
The features of Banfield Pet Hospital, as a larger chain, often include standardized protocols, electronic medical records accessible across locations, and a focus on preventative care through their wellness plans. The positive review highlights the convenience of scheduling appointments and the ease of obtaining advice when needed, suggesting that these aspects are generally well-managed at the Bridgewater location, at least for some clients. However, the alleged reliance on traveling veterinarians, as mentioned in one negative review, could be a significant differentiating factor that potential clients should consider. The lack of a permanently vested veterinarian, if true, could impact the continuity of care and the level of personal connection between the veterinarian, the pet, and the owner.
Regarding promotional information, the positive review mentions an "amazing offer for first-time wellness visits" at some point. Banfield as a national chain frequently offers various promotions and discounts, particularly for new clients or for enrolling in their wellness plans. However, specific current promotions for the Bridgewater location are not provided in the reviews. It is advisable to contact the clinic directly at (732) 271-9105 or +1 732-271-9105 or visit their website to inquire about any ongoing special offers, introductory deals for new clients, or details about their health and wellness plans.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Bridgewater, NJ, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While one client experienced outstanding service, a comprehensive health plan, and a friendly environment, others reported severely negative experiences, including concerns about the consistent presence of licensed veterinarians and the ability to receive necessary medical care and prescriptions. Prospective clients should carefully consider these contrasting viewpoints and perhaps inquire directly with the clinic about their staffing model and the experiences of other local pet owners to make an informed decision about their pet's care. The convenience of health plans and the ease of scheduling, as highlighted in the positive review, may be attractive to some, but the serious allegations in the negative reviews warrant careful consideration and further investigation by potential clients.

Mar 15, 2025 · Tatiana CruzAvoid. The worst of the worst You should also know that no licensed veterinarian actually works here. No veterinarian works here at this veterinarian clinic. They have traveling veterinarians. They're not vested in you nor your pet. You know there's so much I could say, but believe me,..... avoid this place. Just don't even waste your time! My appointment was over 5 and 1/2 hours. Nothing was accomplished cuz there's not a veterinary that works here so no one can write a prescription that's needed. It was a real joke and the joke it was on me and my 95-year-old dad !! I ultimately went to another vet. Got the antibiotic that was needed and I'll never return here ever! Next!
Feb 02, 2025 · Mia-Anne SBrought my dog there for a growth near her anus. The vet told me it was her anal gland and she would need to see a specialist for the potential of removing them. Thankfully I didn’t listen. My dog was groomed at Petsmart 2 weeks ago and the groomer cut another growth she had near there whom also tried telling me it was a swollen anal gland. I took her to red bank today as it has not healed and she confirmed neither growth was an impacted anal gland. A groomer getting it wrong is one thing, but for a vet to not even know that it wasn’t an anal gland is highly concerning. I would steer clear of this place if you love your pet! And yes, I’ll be looking for them to pay for her vet bills.
Feb 16, 2025 · Meredith NeuwirthI really hate complaining but after reading all of the negative comments, I had to add on my experience. And the thing is I do not have an experience because every time I call the office to schedule an appointment, the message says they are closed. It does not give hours of operation or anything. The website says they are open and they close at 6pm, yet I have called for two days and no-one has answered. I had a wellness plan for my dog in Richmond, VA and Banfield was awesome. This location has not started off on a good foot with me.
