Our poor little English cocker spaniel got to feeling poorly, and it appeared to us she was constipated and had quit eating. After a couple of days of not going, we took her to Banfield pet hospital to be looked at. When we got there, they took our information and then took our puppy to the back. They said they would call us when she was ready to pick up. We got a call from the Doctor who said they ran bloodwork and everything was good. However, her white count was a little elevated. There was no real evidence of constipation so they said they would give us something for a pain in her belly. We went to get her and brought her home and the Bill for our little visit was nearly $400. Our little puppy continued to decline throughout the day and into the night. She had quit eating and drinking completely. We called Banfield back and they said if she didn’t improve by the next day, bring her back in. We decided to take her to a different vet as we are new at using veterinarians in our area. When we called a different vet, they asked us questions and also where has she been seen in the past. They called those clinics and got all the information from them regarding our pup. We got there at our appointment time and they put us in a little room and we stayed with our dog throughout the whole procedure. In the end the doctor came in and his diagnosis was severe pancreatitis. She may not have made a couple more days had she had not been diagnosed. They gave us a quote for what needed to be done and an overnight in the hospital. That price was slightly over twice what the office visit was at Banfield. In my opinion, Banfield did not do a thorough examination nor did I ever see the doctor and their pricing in my opinion was high. I won’t be going back there for anything regarding my pet.

Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital
Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 1241 Point Mallard Pkwy Bldg A-6, Decatur, AL 35601, USA. You can contact them at phone number (256) 301-6899 or mobile phone +1 256-301-6899. As a Pet Hospital, Banfield aims to provide a range of veterinary services for your beloved pets. To give you an objective introduction, we will consider the experiences shared by actual customers.
Regarding the environment of Banfield Pet Hospital in Decatur, the provided reviews offer limited insight. One reviewer's negative experience focuses on the perceived lack of thoroughness in the examination and the pricing, rather than the physical surroundings of the clinic. Conversely, the second, more positive review, praises the choices offered and the convenience of services, again without specific mention of the clinic's ambiance or cleanliness. Therefore, based solely on this information, we cannot provide a detailed description of the clinic's environment.
The services offered by Banfield Pet Hospital can be inferred from the first review. They conducted bloodwork on a puppy presenting with symptoms of constipation and inappetence. The bloodwork results were reported as generally good, with a slightly elevated white blood cell count. The diagnosis at that time was not constipation but a potential belly pain, for which medication was provided. This suggests that Banfield offers diagnostic services like bloodwork and provides medication. The fact that the puppy was taken to the "back" for examination implies the presence of examination rooms and facilities for such procedures. The second review broadly mentions "services" and the provision of "choices," suggesting a range of veterinary care options might be available. However, the specific types of services beyond initial examination, bloodwork, and medication prescription are not detailed in these reviews.
In terms of features, one customer appreciated that Banfield "give us choices and go beyond to make services as convenient as possible." This suggests that a potential feature of Banfield Pet Hospital could be the provision of various treatment options and a focus on convenience for pet owners. However, the other review presents a contrasting perspective, where the customer felt the examination was not thorough and that they did not see the doctor during the initial visit, which could be seen as a negative aspect of their service model. The practice of taking the pet to the back for examination without the owner present throughout the initial assessment was also noted. Another point raised was the pricing, which one customer found to be high in relation to the perceived level of examination and the eventual diagnosis received from another veterinary clinic.
Regarding promotional information, neither of the provided reviews mentions any specific promotions or special offers from Banfield Pet Hospital. Therefore, we have no objective information on this aspect to share.
Based on the limited information available, particularly the contrasting customer experiences, it's challenging to form a definitive overall picture. One customer expresses strong dissatisfaction with the thoroughness of the initial examination, the lack of direct interaction with the doctor, and the perceived high cost, leading them to seek care elsewhere where a different and more serious diagnosis (severe pancreatitis) was made. This customer explicitly states they will not return to Banfield. On the other hand, another customer expresses positive feelings towards Banfield, appreciating the choices offered and the convenience of their services.
For local users in Singapore who might be considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Decatur, AL, perhaps due to relocation, it is important to note these differing experiences. One review raises concerns about the depth of the initial assessment and the value for money, while the other highlights the provision of choices and convenience. Without more reviews or specific details about Banfield's protocols and range of services at this Decatur location, it is difficult to provide a more comprehensive and balanced introduction. Potential users may want to consider these points and possibly seek additional reviews or information about this specific Banfield Pet Hospital to make an informed decision about their pet's care.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Decatur, AL, as a Pet Hospital, offers veterinary services that include diagnostics like bloodwork and medication prescription. One customer appreciates their provision of choices and convenience, while another experienced concerns regarding the thoroughness of examination, doctor interaction, and pricing. No promotional information is available in the provided text. Local users considering this clinic should be aware of these differing perspectives.

May 15, 2025 · Wilbert VanDuynhovenWe love Banfield because they give us choices and go beyond to make services as convenient as possible
Nov 28, 2024 · Karen SearsStaff is very friendly and helpful with all of our pet need. We chose Banfield because they are open on Saturday, which makes vet visits easy and accessible. They are available by phone to answer questions, remind you of upcoming visits or medical refills. I have two German shepherds and they will see both dogs at the same time, unlike other vets that request you make separate appointments; in case you cannot get an off day to go to the vet you can also drop off your pet in the mornings before work and pick them up on your way home. I highly recommended this business.
May 15, 2018 · Lakin LovettI have used this Vet for over eight years caring for two diffrent animal. Time and time again they have proven to be a complete rip off. This company only offers monthly payment wellness plans for no less than a year agreement. These plans seem to have huge benefits with the coverage and options provided but in reality these plans do not cover anything beyond an annual dental cleaning and one prescription if needed per year. Over the eight years of using this vet they were never able to help in emergency situations. Not one time did they offer a solution or have a walk in opening. They always referred me elsewhere. They do not even have x-ray equipment in house and wanted to charge over $800 for a single X-Ray visit that would need to be scheduled out using a third party to bring a portable X-ray machine to their facility. The X-ray was performed approximately two miles for the Decatur Banfield location at a local vet for half the cost that Banfield could offer. If your pet passes away you are required to pay the full amount out of pocket with additinal fee or continue out the year making the agreed monthly payments. If you need account changes or questions they cannot help you your local Banfield location. You have to call the corporate phone number, request a call back and speak to individuals that know very little English. In my case the auto renewal was not canceled upon request and I am still dealing with trying to terminate my wellness plan that was auto renewed for a deceased pet. The individual i spoke with at corporate also informed me that the local vet uses a diffrent software than corporate uses and thats why the local Banfield was not notified that my dog was deceased and continues to call telling me that my dog is due for shots. The local banfield has called twice about my dogs shots and both times i have informed them that he is deceased. I even called corporate and ensured that auto renewal was not selected months before the wellness plan was scheduled to renew. This place is a complete joke. The sad part is that the staff onsite seem to care about your pet. I have swapped to a family owned Vet and I couldn't be happier. Stop before its to late! Do not sign an agreement with Banfield!
Nov 19, 2024 · Scottie PearmanI love Banfields they have always been super great with my pet and are always calling and checking on him asking how he is doing ... They really do care about your pets. And as you can see mine is very spoiled and he is treated like a little king when he is there
