Made an appointment to get my two dogs microchipped. Waited 45 in an exam room. After 45 min I spoke up to remind them I was there. They had forgotten me. Next thing a vet tech comes in and tells Me the dogs need to be put under to get chipped. The woman who I made the appointment with didn’t say anything about that. I’ve also never heard of dogs getting put under to get chipped . Totally unprofessional

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 244 Passaic St, Garfield, NJ 07026, USA, operates within the "Pet Hospital" category, offering veterinary care services to the local community. They can be contacted at (973) 470-0103 or via mobile phone at +1 973-470-0103. Based on recent customer reviews available online, experiences at this particular Banfield Pet Hospital location appear to be significantly negative, highlighting concerns about professionalism, communication, and patient care.
One reviewer details a frustrating experience involving a microchipping appointment for their two dogs. According to the review, after waiting for 45 minutes in an examination room, they had to remind the staff of their presence, indicating a lapse in attention to scheduled appointments. Subsequently, a vet technician allegedly informed the reviewer that the dogs would need to be put under anesthesia for the microchipping procedure, a detail that was not mentioned during the appointment booking. The reviewer expressed surprise at this information, stating they had never heard of such a practice for microchipping, and labeled the overall experience as "totally unprofessional." This incident raises concerns about transparency in communication regarding procedures and wait times.
Another, far more गंभीर review recounts a deeply distressing experience related to end-of-life care for a cat named Orlando. The reviewer explicitly advises against recommending Banfield Pet Hospital, describing their ordeal as "absurd, lack of empathy, and unprofessionalism to the fullest!" The core of the complaint revolves around a scheduled euthanasia appointment for their suffering cat, booked for 4:00 PM on May 3rd. However, the reviewer alleges that the hospital chose to close early without informing any of their scheduled clients. This lack of communication reportedly included no phone call, text message, or email, and no sign was even posted at the door to explain the early closure. The reviewer questions whether the hospital disregarded other appointments scheduled until 5:00 PM that day.
The reviewer emphasizes that their cat was a patient of Banfield Pet Hospital, thus negating any excuse of inability to contact them. They also note that the hospital was aware of the cat's critical condition since a previous visit on April 30, 2024. The reviewer's husband reportedly arrived early for the appointment at 3:57 PM and was met with the unexpected closure. The review poignantly describes the distress caused to the family, including a child saying goodbye to their beloved pet, while the reviewer frantically searched for another veterinary facility to perform the euthanasia. The reviewer laments the apparent "lack of empathy" from Banfield Pet Hospital in failing to notify owners of the early closure, especially given the sensitive nature of a scheduled euthanasia.
The reviewer's strong condemnation extends to questioning whether Banfield Pet Hospital truly operates as an "animal hospital" if they allegedly demonstrate such a lack of care for animals and their owners' emotional distress during difficult times. They characterize the facility as a "money sucking place dump that only care about the next dollar," prioritizing profit over patient welfare and empathy for grieving owners. The reviewer contrasts their negative experience with the positive and compassionate service they received from Bond Veterinarian in Paramus, NJ, who accommodated their emergency and provided ample time and support during their cat's passing. The reviewer intends to escalate their traumatic experience to the corporate level.
The detailed account of the failed euthanasia appointment paints a concerning picture of disorganization, poor communication, and a perceived lack of compassion at this Banfield Pet Hospital location. The failure to inform clients of an early closure, particularly when dealing with scheduled end-of-life care for a suffering animal, represents a significant breach of professional conduct and demonstrates a profound lack of consideration for the emotional needs of pet owners during a very difficult time. The reviewer's assertion that the hospital prioritizes financial gain over animal welfare is a serious accusation that potential clients should consider.
The contrast between the negative experiences described in these two reviews and the expectations one typically has of a "Pet Hospital" is stark. A pet hospital should ideally be a place of compassionate care, clear communication, and professional service, especially when dealing with vulnerable animals and their concerned owners. The reported incidents suggest potential systemic issues at this particular Banfield Pet Hospital location regarding appointment management, procedural transparency, and, most critically, empathy and communication during end-of-life situations.
Given the severity of the issues raised in these recent reviews, local users searching for a "Pet Hospital Near Me" in the Garfield, NJ area should exercise caution and consider these experiences when making decisions about their pet's veterinary care. While Banfield is a national chain, these individual experiences highlight the importance of researching specific locations and considering all available feedback.
As no positive aspects or information about the environment, specific services beyond microchipping and euthanasia, features, or promotional offers are mentioned in the provided reviews, it is impossible to offer a balanced or comprehensive introduction. The overwhelming negative feedback regarding professionalism and patient care overshadows any potential positive attributes this location might possess. Local users may need to seek additional information from other sources or consider alternative veterinary care providers in the area based on these accounts.
In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Banfield Pet Hospital in Garfield, NJ, paint a concerning picture of unprofessionalism, poor communication, and a lack of empathy, particularly in sensitive situations like end-of-life care. Potential clients should carefully consider these experiences when choosing a "Pet Hospital Near Me" and may wish to seek alternative veterinary care providers in the Garfield area.

Apr 03, 2025 · M RWhy are we getting a review for this dump I have no idea. I left my first review on my second visit and I would never ever recommend anybody to go here. The hell that I had to go through yesterday to find another place to take my animal to be put down as he was suffering was absurd, lack of empathy, and unprofessionalism to the fullest! The original appointment that was made on May 3 was for my husband to take our cat to be put down at 4 PM, but that was disregarded when they chose to close early and not informed anyone. Not a phone call, not a text, not an email, nothing! Even as you walk up to the door, there was no sign listing why they chose to close early. Did they forget about the other appointments that were made for the remainder of the day till 5 PM? My cat is a patient at that hospital so they cannot give me the excuse that they could not reach out to me. They also knew about the situation since the visit that this review is on April 30, 2024. After my husband arrived early at 3:57pm, he contacted me with disbelief and anger. They have no idea how horrific it was in my house for people to come say goodbye to our beloved Orlando. As I’m trying to calm my child down I’m also trying to call multiple places to find to put him down as he suffering. Where was the empathy in calling the owners and letting them know that may be an emergency happened and they would be closing early. I am beyond disgusted that they can call this place an animal hospital when they don’t care about the animals. All this animal hospital is, is a money sucking place dump that only care about the next dollar. Not the animal and not empathy that some owners have to face when having to make the hardest decision to put their beloved family member down. I was grateful, after calling multiple veterinarians, Bond Veterinarian in Paramus, Nj was able to take my cat and make his way crossing over the rainbow bridge easier. Not only did they squeeze him in but gave my husband an ample amount of time for him to stay and leave when he was ready. I was even given an amazing choice to pick and an urn for him to come to our family in. I will be taking my traumatic experience for not only myself, but my family to corporate. If I had got a call so I could’ve made other engagements that would be one thing but to not even care to make a phone call or send an email letting people know that they were closing early is unexcused. My cat wasn’t going in there for normal check up. He was going to be put down because he was suffering on a scheduled appointment that was made with their office. I left the information if anybody chooses to go to a place that really cares about not only your animal, but your feelings and emotions. The two remaining pictures are the choices they gave us to pick and the last moment of my beloved Orlando. Unfortunately, I will always remember the hell I had to go through to find another place to put my poor, suffering cat down instead of someone being professional and letting their customers know they had to close. I’m sure I could’ve made other arrangements if I was just informed.

Jan 28, 2025 · Yenny NataliaI want to address an unfortunate matter regarding Banfield Pet Hospitals in Carlstadt, Garfield, and Paramus. All three locations have refused to see my pet, who may be experiencing an illness. While I don't believe this is a life-or-death emergency, I was very concerned and hoped to have him seen today, November 26th. Although I have not had any prior issues with them, I feel that their reasons for dismissing my pet were inadequate. I initially made an appointment online at the Carlstadt location, but they called me 30 minutes before the appointment to say there was a glitch in the system and canceled it. I then reached out to the Garfield location, but the receptionist showed little concern for my pet's situation and refused to accommodate him, stating they were "completely booked." When I inquired whether the call was being recorded, she confirmed it was. I informed her that if anything unfortunate were to happen to my dog due to their refusal to see him, I would consider filing a lawsuit against them. Unfortunately, her response was very dismissive, and she seemed indifferent to my concerns. It is disheartening to see that this hospital appears more concerned about making money than about the well-being of pets.
Nov 26, 2024 · Tanya TorresI recently took my dog, Ava, to Banfield Pet Hospital for an appointment, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. Ava was kept at the hospital for four hours for a yearly examination, during which she was not provided with water. As a pet owner, it’s deeply concerning when basic needs like hydration are overlooked, especially when entrusting the care of your pet to professionals. Additionally, the front desk staff were both poor and unprofessional in their service. From the moment we arrived, there was a noticeable lack of communication and courtesy. Questions about Ava’s care were met with vague responses, and the overall attitude of the staff left much to be desired. This added to the stress of an already disappointing experience. While I understand that veterinary practices can be busy, ensuring that pets are comfortable and well-cared-for, and that clients are treated with respect, should be a priority. The lack of attention to these crucial aspects of care has made me question the overall quality of service provided. I hope that Banfield Pet Hospital takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future. Pets and their owners deserve the best care possible, and I will no longer be taking my pet here. Would not recommend someone to come here if they really love their pet.I hope people read the reviews before taking their pet here.
