I love coming to the banfield in Winchester VA. The staff is always trying to get us in and out and they take good care of my babies. I’ve been going there for just over 2 years and I don’t have any complaints. They also have a good yearly subscription with monthly payments.

Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital

Introducing Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 2310 Legge Blvd, Winchester, VA 22601, USA. As a "Pet Hospital," Banfield aims to provide a range of veterinary services and likely offers related goods for sale. They can be contacted at phone number (540) 662-0225 or mobile phone +1 540-662-0225. To provide an objective introduction, we will consider the experiences shared by real customers online.

The customer reviews for the Banfield Pet Hospital in Winchester, VA, present a mixed picture. One customer expresses overall satisfaction, stating, "I love coming to the banfield in Winchester VA. The staff is always trying to get us in and out and they take good care of my babies. I’ve been going there for just over 2 years and I don’t have any complaints. They also have a good yearly subscription with monthly payments." This positive review highlights the perceived efficiency of the staff, the good care provided to pets, and the availability of a yearly subscription plan with monthly payments, which could be attractive for managing the costs of routine pet care.

However, another customer shares a significantly negative experience with the same Banfield Pet Hospital in Winchester. This detailed account raises serious concerns about the quality of service and the care provided. The reviewer took their 4-year-old Golden Retriever for routine care, including vaccines, a heartworm test, anal gland expression, and nail trimming. According to this review, the experience was "awful" from the beginning.

The negative review outlines several key issues:

  • Rude Staff & Poor Communication: The front desk staff member is described as "extremely rude" with "horrible customer service." The communication regarding the expected completion time was also reportedly inaccurate, with a significant delay and no proactive updates.
  • False Claims & Negligence: The reviewing customer states that the veterinarian, Paige P. Robbins, falsely claimed their dog was "too anxious" and had bitten a nurse, leading to the cancellation of most of the scheduled procedures (except the heartworm test). The reviewer vehemently denies their dog has ever shown aggression.
  • Unexplained Injuries & Suspicious Delay: Upon the dog's return after a prolonged wait, a nurse allegedly mentioned a "boo-boo," and the dog was found with a red bump on his forehead and red, irritated eyes, suggesting possible unapproved medication. The explanation given was that the dog hit his head on the wall, which the reviewer found illogical.
  • Concerns about a Cover-Up: The reviewer questions why they were not informed about the alleged "incident" promptly, the reason for the long wait, and the lack of clear explanations, suggesting a potential attempt to conceal what happened.

Despite the issues reported, the customer was still charged $130.89, allegedly for only a heartworm test. The reviewer concluded by strongly advising others to avoid this Banfield location, citing negligence and potential abuse, and stating that their dog left injured, stressed, and traumatized.

Given these contrasting reviews, it is difficult to form a singular positive or negative portrayal of the environment, services, and features of this Banfield Pet Hospital. One customer appreciated the efficiency and the wellness plan, while the other reported rudeness, poor communication, questionable claims, unexplained injuries, and a feeling of negligence.

Generally, Banfield Pet Hospitals are often located within or adjacent to PetSmart stores, which might give some indication of the environment – typically a standard veterinary clinic setup with examination rooms, waiting areas, and basic medical equipment. They are also known for offering "Optimum Wellness Plans," which are subscription-based packages for routine care, as mentioned by the positive reviewer. Services typically include routine check-ups, vaccinations, dental care, microchipping, and treatment for illnesses and injuries. They also usually offer some pet-related products for sale, such as prescription food and medications.

However, the starkly negative review raises serious concerns that potential local users should be aware of. It suggests that while some customers may have positive experiences, there is also the possibility of encountering rude staff, communication issues, and potentially concerning animal handling and care.

For local users in Winchester, VA, who are considering Banfield Pet Hospital, it would be prudent to weigh these contrasting experiences. The availability of a wellness plan might be appealing for routine care budgeting. However, the serious allegations in the negative review regarding pet safety and communication should not be ignored.

To make an informed decision, local pet owners may want to contact Banfield Pet Hospital directly at (540) 662-0225 to inquire about their services, environment, and protocols. They might also consider seeking additional recent reviews from other sources to get a broader understanding of the current customer experiences.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! I took my 4-year-old Golden Retriever to Banfield Hospital in Winchester on Saturday at 11 AM for routine care—vaccines, a heartworm test, anal gland expression, and nail trimming. From the start, the experience was awful. 🔹 RUDE STAFF & POOR COMMUNICATION The front desk lady was extremely rude with horrible customer service. They told me my dog would be done in 2 hours, and they would call me when he was ready. FOUR HOURS passed with no update, so we went in person to check. 🔹 FALSE CLAIMS & NEGLIGENCE When we arrived, the vet, Paige P. Robbins, claimed my dog was "too anxious" and had bit a nurse, which is completely false. My dog has never shown aggression—he was raised around small children and has always been gentle. Because of this, they didn't perform any of the procedures except for the heartworm test. 🔹 UNEXPLAINED INJURIES & SUSPICIOUS DELAY When they finally brought my dog out (after making us wait 35 more minutes), another nurse casually said, "Oops, he has a boo-boo." I was shocked—he had a red bump on his forehead and red, irritated eyes, as if he had been medicated without my consent. When I asked why, they claimed he hit his head on the wall—which makes NO sense. 🔹 COVER-UP? Why didn’t they call me when the "incident" happened? Why did it take so long to bring him out? Why couldn’t they give a straight answer? It felt like they were waiting for something to wear off before returning my dog. At the end of this horrible experience, I was charged $130.89—for NOTHING except a heartworm test. Instead of receiving care, my dog left injured, stressed, and traumatized. 🚨 STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. If you care about your pet’s well-being, do NOT take them here! This is not just bad service—this is negligence and possible abuse.

This place always has nice veterinarians, but they seem to churn through them quite fast. Always a different doctor, it seems. If you need an actual VET, don't go here. This is for routine per care only. Take your pet to someone with experience. So this is a big-box dog food store that pushes their wares on you from every angle. Every phone call, every check-in, sell sell sell. And the vets are "persuaded" to discourage raw diets. One vet actually suggested studies prove dogs need to eat grains 🫤 Well that's just disinformation. Dogs do not need to eat your canned processed non-human grade "food" made with mostly grains. Thanks but no thanks. That's what you get when dog-food manufacturers subsidize veterinary colleges 🤦

I was there to pick a friend up and his cat. The thing that really bothered me is, my friend is low income and they offered him a monthly plan for his cat, which sounded great! But they did not tell him that he had to have a credit card or debit card to do the plan! After they gave his cat, her check-up, shots, and lab work then they asked for a credit card. He said I am paying with cash. She informed him if he didn't have a credit card to put on his account, then he had to pay 781 dollars for the services, which he was quoted 184! As I said my friend is low income not rich! I asked the girl why was he not explained this from the start yet no answer! She assumed we were married and asked if I had one! ( she even mentioned me as the spouse, which I corrected) I gave my friend my debit card to use on there account so they could have their cat as it was indicated he could not have her til they produced a card or paid 781 dollars. So I say to all beware of this clinic! The plan is nice but be advised of ALL requirements before taking your pet there! Or be stuck with an outrageous bill!
