I scheduled an in-room appointment for my pet and confirmed it with Latish, only to get a call the same day saying they suddenly couldn’t accommodate it. This is the second time I’ve been rescheduled, and it’s beyond frustrating. My pet deserves better than this constant back-and-forth. To make things even more unprofessional, she casually referred me to another hospital in Whittier and started rambling about her daughter living there—as if that had anything to do with my pet’s care. This isn’t just inconvenient; it’s upsetting and completely unacceptable.

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 12126 Lakewood Blvd, Downey, CA 90242, USA. As a listed provider within the "Pet Hospital" platform category, Banfield Pet Hospital aims to offer veterinary care services to the local community. However, the available customer reviews paint a concerning picture, highlighting significant issues with appointment management, adherence to promotional offers, and overall professionalism, particularly concerning interactions with a staff member identified as Latish.
The limited information from customer reviews does not provide details about the physical environment of the Banfield Pet Hospital in Downey. However, as part of a larger chain of veterinary hospitals, one might expect a standardized setup including waiting areas, examination rooms, and potentially surgical and diagnostic facilities. Given the negative feedback regarding service, it is difficult to infer whether the physical environment contributes positively or negatively to the overall customer experience. Potential clients may need to visit the facility to form their own assessment of the clinic's ambiance and cleanliness.
The services offered at Banfield Pet Hospital typically encompass a wide range of veterinary care, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, illness and injury treatment, surgical procedures, dental care, and prescription medications. However, the customer reviews provided do not focus on the quality of the medical services themselves but rather on the administrative and customer service aspects of the clinic's operation. One reviewer sought care for an "urgent issue" with their pet, indicating that the hospital is intended to handle both routine and more immediate medical needs.
The features of Banfield Pet Hospital, as perceived through the lens of these negative reviews, are unfortunately centered around significant shortcomings in customer service and administrative processes. A recurring issue is the apparent unreliability of appointment scheduling. One customer reported having an in-room appointment scheduled and confirmed, only to have it canceled on the same day. This was reportedly the second instance of rescheduling for this pet owner, leading to considerable frustration and a feeling that their pet's needs were not being prioritized. This suggests a potential problem with appointment management and communication.
Another deeply concerning feature highlighted in the reviews is the handling of promotional coupons. One customer with a coupon for a free office visit was allegedly denied its validation by a staff member, Latish (believed to be a manager), who cited a self-imposed limit of "3 visits for free per week." This refusal to honor a valid coupon, especially when a pet required urgent medical attention, is described as "completely unacceptable and unprofessional." The customer felt that the staff member was more concerned with internal administrative rules than with the well-being of the animal in need.
Furthermore, the unprofessional behavior of the staff, specifically Latish, is a significant point of criticism. One reviewer recounted being casually referred to another hospital in Whittier, accompanied by irrelevant personal anecdotes about the staff member's daughter living there. This behavior is described as "upsetting and completely unacceptable," indicating a lack of focus on the patient's needs and a disregard for professional boundaries.
The overall sentiment expressed in these reviews is one of shock, disgust, dismissal, and a profound lack of compassion for the pets requiring care. The negative experiences led both reviewers to state unequivocally that they would not return to Banfield Pet Hospital in Downey and strongly advise others to seek veterinary care elsewhere. This severe condemnation underscores the gravity of the service issues reported.
Given the overwhelmingly negative nature of the provided feedback, it is impossible to ascertain any positive promotional aspects of Banfield Pet Hospital in Downey from this information. The focus is entirely on the negative experiences encountered by these pet owners. Local users considering this clinic should be aware of these serious concerns regarding appointment reliability, coupon policies, and staff professionalism.
In conclusion, the available customer reviews for Banfield Pet Hospital in Downey, CA, paint a troubling picture of unreliable appointment scheduling, refusal to honor promotional offers, and unprofessional staff behavior. These accounts raise significant concerns about the clinic's customer service and administrative practices. While the quality of the medical care itself is not addressed in these specific reviews, the negative experiences reported regarding appointment handling and staff interactions are serious red flags for potential clients. Local users seeking veterinary care in Downey are strongly advised to consider these firsthand accounts and potentially seek further information or explore alternative pet hospitals in the area to ensure their pets receive the timely and compassionate care they deserve.

Mar 21, 2025 · Kevin MartinezIf I could leave a zero star review I would. I am absolutely in shock and disgusted with the experience I had at Banfield Downey.I recently brought my pet in for an urgent issue, only to be told by Latish, who I believe is a manager(?) that they would not be able to see my pet. When I asked why, she informed me that she will not validate my coupon of a free office visit due to her only accpeting "3 visits for free per week" and that my pet would not be accommodated unless I paid for the visit upfront, despite the fact that my coupon gave me one visit for free. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. There was no flexibility or understanding of the situation. My pet needed medical attention, and rather than providing care, Latish seemed more concerned with the work she'd have to do rather than the safety and health of my pet. I felt dismissed and ignored, and the lack of compassion for my pet's well-being was incredibly upsetting. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise anyone considering this clinic to look elsewhere.

May 01, 2024 · Graciela RuvalcabaHave nothing but great things to say about this place. Friendly staff and great service. I felt safe with leaving my pet in the hands of this business.
Oct 16, 2024 · Jenn JohnstonI was able to make an appointment for the next day. I really liked this location. I've been to the Lakewood location, but this one is much better. The vet and staff were very nice and listened to my concerns. My terrible Tyrion was a bit difficult, but the vet and I were able to get his exam done. She prescribed him medication, and hopefully, he gets better soon.
