This review is based on my experience with this location over the past year. Took my pets to Banfield for 20 years but will no longer do so. This place feels like they are just trying to take my money rather than provide quality health care. I had my dog on the wellness plan which cost my $130 a month and included basic vaccines, two checkups a year and a dental cleaning. However, every time I would take my dog in, I still managed to pay $150-$200 for things not covered by the plan. In January of last year, I took my dog in for a dental cleaning. The vet told me that they would not perform the cleaning because the pre-procedure blood test revealed low enzyme levels in my dog’s liver so that they could not put him under anesthesia. The vet recommended that I give him some medication and prescription food for one month, which I did. A month later, I took my dog back in for his teeth cleaning and was again told that his enzyme levels were too low for them to put him under anesthesia. They told me that they didn’t know why but that he could have a mass on his liver and that I needed to get him an ultrasound. When I took my dog to get the ultrasound which cost me $800, I was told that nothing was wrong with him, that it was likely the food he was eating (table food) that was the problem. The ultrasound tech at the vet hospital (not Banfield) deduced this by asking simple questions that the vets at Banfield failed to ask. While all of this was going on, I attempted to cancel the wellness plan since it appeared that they were not willing to provide the dental cleaning that I essentially already payed for with the plan. They would not allow me to cancel because I had already used services and would not even allow me to pay the difference of the cost for the services already provided without discount. Therefore, I was stuck in the plan for almost an entire year. Fast forward to this year when my wellness plan lapsed, I took my two dogs in for basic vaccines, a checkup and heartworm prevention. The entire day while my dogs where there the staff kept a trying to sell me the wellness plan even though I refused and went behind my back and tried to sell it to my husband. The last straw was a few weeks ago I made an appointment to get the k-9 influenza vaccination for my 2 pups, which are not required but at some boarding places. They wanted to charge me $200 for 2 vaccines, telling me that they had to charge me for a checkup because the vaccines couldn’t be administered without one. That is absurd! I’m done with this place. If you don’t want to be charged an arm and a leg for mediocre pet health care, don’t come here. I’ve never been so enraged in my life as I was with poor customer service, outrageous prices and poor pet care at Banfield. I will not be returning and will definitely not recommend this place.

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce

For pet owners in Houston, Texas, seeking veterinary care options, Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 7050 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77095, operates under the platform category "Pet Hospital." As a national chain with a local presence, Banfield offers a range of veterinary services and wellness plans. However, recent customer reviews present a mixed perspective, with one detailing significant dissatisfaction and another highlighting positive aspects of their experience. Therefore, a balanced introduction is essential for local users considering Banfield Pet Hospital for their pet's healthcare needs.

One detailed review outlines a highly negative experience spanning over a year. This customer, who had been taking their pets to Banfield for twenty years, expresses a strong feeling that the focus has shifted towards financial gain rather than quality healthcare. The reviewer details their experience with a wellness plan costing $130 per month, which was supposed to include basic vaccines, two annual checkups, and a dental cleaning. Despite being on this plan, the customer reports consistently incurring additional charges of $150-$200 for services not covered.

The most concerning part of this review involves the attempt to obtain a dental cleaning for their dog, a service supposedly included in the wellness plan. On two separate occasions, the cleaning was refused due to low liver enzyme levels detected in pre-procedure blood tests, which the veterinarian deemed unsafe for anesthesia. The recommended course of action involved a month of medication and prescription food, followed by a re-evaluation. After the second refusal, the customer was advised that the cause could be a liver mass and an ultrasound, costing $800, was recommended. The ultrasound, performed at a different veterinary hospital, revealed no issues, with the technician suggesting that table food was the likely culprit – a deduction made through simple questions that the Banfield vets allegedly failed to ask.

Adding to the negative experience, the reviewer recounts their unsuccessful attempts to cancel the wellness plan, despite the included dental cleaning not being provided. Banfield reportedly refused cancellation, arguing that services had already been used, and would not even allow the customer to pay the difference for the discounted services already received to terminate the plan. Consequently, the customer felt "stuck" in the plan for almost a year. Upon the wellness plan's eventual lapse, the reviewer took their two dogs in for basic vaccines, a checkup, and heartworm prevention. They report persistent attempts by the staff to sell the wellness plan, even after refusal and by approaching their husband without their knowledge.

The final negative point raised involves a $200 charge for two K-9 influenza vaccinations, which were requested for boarding purposes and are not typically required. Banfield allegedly insisted on charging for a checkup in addition to the vaccines, stating that the vaccinations could not be administered without one – a policy the reviewer found "absurd." This culmination of experiences led the reviewer to express extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service, "outrageous prices," and perceived "poor pet care," vowing not to return or recommend Banfield.

In contrast, another recent review offers a positive perspective on their experience at the same Banfield location. This customer specifically praises Dr. Brittany King and her veterinary technician as "wonderful to work with." They highlight the kindness shown towards their small, older dog and the considerate offer to administer vaccinations in a separate room due to the presence of their child. However, the reviewer chose to have their daughter remain in the room, who enjoyed observing the exam and vaccinations. Dr. King is described as "thorough," and her technician is commended for clearly explaining the different pricing options for the wellness plans offered.

This positive reviewer also notes the staff's engagement with their daughter, asking her questions about her interest in animals, which created a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. Furthermore, they report being seen promptly, within seven minutes of their scheduled 5:00 PM appointment. Overall, this customer describes their visit as "wonderful" and expresses gratitude for the positive experience.

Considering these contrasting reviews, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment and overall service quality at this Banfield Pet Hospital location. One reviewer experienced a sense of financial prioritization over quality care, coupled with frustrating policy inflexibility and perceived misdiagnosis. In contrast, the other reviewer found the staff to be kind, thorough, and efficient, highlighting positive interactions with a specific veterinarian and technician.

The services offered at Banfield Pet Hospital generally include wellness plans, vaccinations, routine checkups, dental cleanings (though the availability and conditions may vary), diagnostic testing (including blood tests and ultrasounds), and treatment for various illnesses. The conflicting reviews suggest that the quality and transparency of these services can be inconsistent. The wellness plan, a key feature of Banfield, is presented as a way to budget for routine care, but the negative review indicates potential for unexpected additional costs and difficulties in accessing included services.

Features of Banfield as a national chain often include convenient locations, online appointment scheduling, and the option of wellness plans. However, the local execution of these features and the consistency of care appear to be areas where customer experiences can diverge significantly. The positive review highlights efficient service and a caring staff, while the negative review points to concerns about cost transparency, diagnostic thoroughness, and customer service policies.

No specific promotional information for this Houston location is provided in the reviews. Banfield often promotes its wellness plans and may have introductory offers for new clients. Local users would need to contact the specific Houston location directly at (281) 861-8997 or visit their website to inquire about any current promotions or the details of their wellness plans.

In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital at 7050 Hwy 6 N in Houston, TX, presents a complex picture for local pet owners. While one customer had a very positive experience with a specific veterinarian and technician, praising their kindness and efficiency, another detailed a highly negative experience involving concerns about cost transparency, access to included services under a wellness plan, diagnostic thoroughness, and customer service. Potential clients should carefully consider these contrasting viewpoints and perhaps seek more recent reviews or directly inquire about specific policies and pricing before making a decision regarding their pet's care at this location.

Dr. Brittany King and her veterinarian technician were wonderful to work with! They were kind to Cooper (our small older dog) 🐶 and offered to administer vaccinations in the back room since I had my daughter with me. My daughter was excited to see everything and loves playing with her three doctor’s kits at home, so I asked them to stay in the room. My daughter loved seeing the full exam and vaccinations! Dr. Brittany King was thorough and her veterinarian technician was thorough in discussing the differences in pricing for the wellness plans offered. They engaged my daughter and asked her questions about her interest in animals. We arrived at 5:00 p.m. for our scheduled appointment and were promptly seen within 7 minutes. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

I have cancelled the plan to treat my dog and NEVER intend to take my puppy back there. Unprofessional and rude. This doesn’t apply to all Bandfield’s. I had taken her to another Banfield for 9 years but this one is bad.

Dr King and Jessica are great! They really take the time to explain and break down everything for you in such an anxious time. Very thorough exam and actually listened to concerns and background history without rushing you. Jessica took the time to go through costs of price with vs without wellness plan and the best plan for my pet. Very appreciative of them! Would recommend!

What’s the point of having a wellness plan with unlimited office visits if when your having an actual emergency they can’t see your pet. Oh but whenever they need payment its really easy to demand it from u. I’ll remember that next month when they try to take money from my account. “Update” Well sorry isn’t bringing my dog back or saying good luck and hanging up on me isn’t either. Friday June 25th 11pm I had to put my Max to sleep. He was in a lot of pain and u guys couldn’t see him because u required to schedule an appointment and all bandfield locations close to us where fully booked.
