Dr. Raji, Sonya, Dawn, Alicia and the rest of the staff are outstanding. They were so very supportive when we lost our Weim. They had been caring for him from the day he came home at 8 weeks until 11 yrs old. Now they are showing love to our new Weim. Very personable and in our experience, everyone is pleasant and willing to help.

Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital
Banfield Pet Hospital, situated at 36395 Euclid Ave, Willoughby, OH 44094, USA, serves as a prominent pet healthcare provider in the local community. As part of a larger national network of veterinary hospitals, this location offers a comprehensive array of services for dogs, cats, and small animal pet patients. The clinic can be reached at (440) 918-1625, or via mobile at +1 440-918-1625.
The environment at Banfield Pet Hospital in Willoughby is designed to provide professional veterinary care. As a corporate veterinary chain, Banfield strives for a consistent standard of care across its numerous locations. Reviews often highlight the individual efforts of the staff in creating a supportive atmosphere. For instance, one glowing review praises specific team members like "Dr. Raji, Sonya, Dawn, Alicia and the rest of the staff" for being "outstanding" and "very personable," demonstrating exceptional support during the loss of a pet and showing "love" to a new puppy. This suggests that despite being part of a larger organization, the local team aims to foster a compassionate and caring environment for pet owners and their animals.
However, it's also important to acknowledge that some aspects of the client experience, particularly administrative and billing processes, can present challenges. One detailed review points out issues with overcharging, delayed refunds, and difficulties in communication with the treasury department, leading to frustration. This suggests that while the front-line veterinary staff may provide excellent care, the larger corporate systems for billing and customer service can sometimes be less responsive, leading to a varied overall experience for pet owners. The mentioned long hold times for phone calls also indicate potential areas for improvement in client accessibility and communication efficiency.
Banfield Pet Hospital in Willoughby provides a broad spectrum of veterinary services, with a strong emphasis on preventive care. Their offerings are designed to cover the full life cycle of pets, from early development to senior years. Key services include:
- Preventive Care: This is a core focus, encapsulated by their "Optimum Wellness Plans®." These plans bundle essential services such as comprehensive physical exams (typically two per year), routine vaccinations and boosters, and diagnostic testing (like fecal exams and blood work) into affordable monthly or annual payments. The aim is to make proactive pet health management more accessible and budget-friendly.
- Diagnostic and Imaging Services: To aid in accurate diagnosis, the hospital is equipped with digital radiography (X-rays) and dental digital X-ray capabilities, allowing for detailed imaging of internal structures and oral health. They also have an in-house laboratory for rapid diagnostic testing, including various blood tests and urinalysis, to provide same-day results for many conditions.
- Surgical Procedures: Banfield offers standard surgical services, including routine spaying and neutering. Depending on the location, they may also perform general soft tissue surgeries. They emphasize patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
- Dental Care: Professional dental cleanings are provided to support oral health and prevent periodontal disease. Dental extractions and other oral surgical procedures may also be performed.
- Parasite Control: The clinic provides screening, treatment plans, and prevention options for both internal and external parasites, including fleas, ticks, and heartworms.
- Nutritional Advice: Veterinarians and staff offer guidance on appropriate diets for pets based on their age, lifestyle, and specific health conditions.
- Microchipping: As a vital service for pet safety, microchip implantation is available to provide permanent identification and increase the chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
- General Wellness & Illness Treatment: Beyond preventive care, they diagnose and treat a wide range of common pet illnesses, including gastrointestinal issues, skin and coat problems, and provide orthopedic evaluations.
- End-of-Life Care: The hospital offers supportive care during a pet's final stages, helping owners make compassionate decisions and providing services to ensure comfort.
- Medical Grooming: In addition to standard veterinary care, some locations may offer medical grooming services.
Several features characterize Banfield Pet Hospital, particularly its Willoughby location:
- Optimum Wellness Plans®: This is arguably Banfield's most defining feature. These year-long, prepaid packages of preventive care services are designed to offer significant savings (often advertised as 30% or more) compared to paying for individual services. They include unlimited office visits, virtual visits, 24/7 Vet Chat™ access, and discounts on many non-plan products and services. The plans aim to encourage consistent preventive care, which is crucial for long-term pet health.
- Network Accessibility: Being part of a vast national network of over 1,000 hospitals, Banfield offers the convenience of continuity of care if a pet owner moves or needs to visit a different Banfield location while traveling. This can be a significant advantage for mobile pet owners.
- Emphasis on Preventive Care: The entire Banfield model is built around preventive medicine, aiming to keep pets healthy and detect issues early, thereby potentially reducing the need for more costly emergency or advanced treatments later.
- Team Approach: The presence of various staff members, including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff, ensures a multi-faceted approach to pet care. The positive customer review highlights the importance of individual staff members like Dr. Raji, Sonya, Dawn, and Alicia in creating a positive experience.
- Digital Tools and Virtual Services: Banfield integrates technology into its services, offering virtual visits and 24/7 Vet Chat™, which provide convenient ways for pet owners to consult with veterinary professionals from home.
Banfield Pet Hospital primarily promotes its services through the aforementioned Optimum Wellness Plans® (OWP). These plans are available for puppies, kittens, adult dogs, and adult cats, with different tiers (e.g., Early Care, Active Care, Special Care) to cater to varying needs and life stages. The plans offer a way to budget for routine veterinary expenses through monthly payments with no interest fees, and they include discounts on services and products not covered by the plan.
While the OWPs are a significant financial offering, it's essential for pet owners to thoroughly understand the terms and conditions. The customer review regarding billing and refunds underscores the importance of clear communication and diligent record-keeping when dealing with financial transactions, particularly concerning refunds and contract terms. Pet owners are advised to clarify any questions about billing, included services, and cancellation policies before enrolling in a plan.
Banfield Pet Hospital in Willoughby typically operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours until 6:00 PM on Thursdays and Saturdays. It is always advisable to call ahead for precise hours, particularly on weekends, and to schedule appointments. The phone number is (440) 918-1625.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Willoughby aims to provide accessible and preventive-focused veterinary care through its structured service offerings and wellness plans. While the compassionate care from its on-site veterinary and support staff, as noted by positive customer experiences, is a significant asset, potential clients should also be mindful of the larger corporate administrative processes and review all financial agreements carefully to ensure a seamless and satisfactory pet healthcare journey.

Feb 26, 2025 · Martinet Blevins ElliottPLEAAE READ! 1/5 I regret not listening to the other reviews about Banfield, and I urge you not to make the same mistake. They overcharged me by $75 and took four weeks to process my refund, even though I provided clear screenshots and receipts. While Sonya was helpful in contacting the treasury department on my behalf, they refused to process my refund, claiming the transaction date was incorrect (even though they told me to wait to send the screenshot until it posted). When I asked to escalate the issue, I was only given an email address for the treasury department—no phone number. After emailing all the necessary information and proof, I didn’t get a response. Instead, I received a call from another employee days later, who finally confirmed that I was correct. On top of this, whenever I called, I was frequently placed on hold for over 10 minutes without being asked if I could hold. This lack of professionalism, especially from the treasury department, made an already frustrating situation worse. Save yourself the headache and take the reviews seriously. I wouldn’t recommend Banfield to anyone.
Jan 24, 2025 · Ashley EBoth of my dogs go here. My older I’ve been taking to this location since she was about a year old, and this year she’ll be 10. Everyone here is awesome, from the receptionists to the vet techs to the vets. They’re so nice and caring and helpful! The people really make it a great experience. Just a note for Banfield in general- since I’ve mostly ever gone just for drop-off check-ups, I feel a slight disconnect with the vets, just because I don’t see them every time. I’d also like to see the back area where they take the pups, just out of curiosity. That’s another area where I feel a little bit of a disconnect, but I do understand that this system allows them to make more appointments per day which is very good for us! Photo of my younger puppy at his very first visit!
Jul 16, 2023 · Diane FurlongI stopped using banfield of Willoughby after they let my dog fall off an examination table and hurt himself waking up from anesthesia. Some of the vet techs are great but too many bad experiences I’ve switched to aurora banfield, even though it’s 2x farther it’s worth it.
