Review for Banfield on East Market Street, Leesburg - 1 Star I recently had a very disappointing experience at Banfield in Leesburg that has compelled me to share my thoughts. I took my dog in for an all-day appointment, fully expecting that he would receive the care and attention he needed while I was away. However, the outcome was far from what I anticipated. At the end of the day, my wife received a call stating that our dog wasn't being cooperative. The staff member suggested that if I came in to put a muzzle on him, they could see him that same day. Confused but hopeful, I rushed to the clinic only to be met with further frustration. I was informed that despite the muzzle, they simply didn’t have the time to attend to him and would need to reschedule. If they knew there wouldn’t be time for him, why wait until the end of the day to inform me? I insisted on speaking with the doctor, but I was met with excuses about how she was too busy to come out and address my concerns. I couldn’t help but notice that they only had ten appointments scheduled that day. Given their limited capacity, I found their prioritization of tasks and patients to be seriously lacking. When they finally brought my dog out to me, I notcied the condition he was in. He was noticeably distressed and peeing all over the floor. I inquired whether he had been taken outside during his time there, and the vet tech informed me that he wouldn’t let them. If he was indeed too anxious to be handled by their staff, why did they feel confident bringing him out to me? Due to this distressing experience, I decided to transfer my dog's care to another Banfield location in hopes that the service would be better. I urge anyone considering bringing their pet here to think twice, and definitely don’t wait until the end of the day for crucial updates. My experience has convinced me that this location is not adequately equipped to handle dogs, particularly those who may be anxious or fearful. Avoid this place if you want your beloved pet to be treated with the compassion and care they deserve. Note this isn't the first time we have had issues with other small doggies.

Feb 24, 2025 · Bernie GlassIf I could write a review without giving a star, I would. Do not. I repeat DO NOT take your pet to this vet and location. I had an appt last Thursday, November 5th at 2:00pm. While being at the appointment there was another woman who had taken her dog and asked me if I had been to this place before which I stated no. She said years ago everything was great but recently the service has been terrible. I wish she would’ve shown up prior to me paying because I wouldn’t have gotten a service. I took my dog in because her urine was an abnormal color. They did a urine sample and said they took a blood sample. When I was there I had originally enrolled in the care plan. Again, wish I hadn’t. I was put in a room to wait for the vet. The vet spent no more than 5 mins throwing a bunch of information at me and being unclear of what I actually needed to get for my dog. She then took me to the front desk and because throwing prices at me for medications and told me that when I took my dog back, I needed to give her trazadone. My dog has been seen by two different vets and they have never suggested trazadone. Then the vet said she didn’t have a pen to sign the prescriptions and said she needed to go to the back to grab a pen and she would be right out. I was waiting there for five minutes. The girl that’s supposed to be in the front then came out and asked me to swipe the card I wanted on file. I then had to pay $174.90 which I paid. The girl said “you will get your receipt and all other documentation via email. I left and checked my email repeatedly and never got any documentation not even a receipt. I called the location at 5:43pm since there business hours are advertised as 8am-6pm. No one ever answered. I then receive a call Friday morning which I was not able to answer because I was at work and I was left a voicemail stating that I need to put a card on file to finish the profile; not even mentioning a itemized receipt for the services I had already paid for. I tried creating an online again but because I wasn’t provided any documentation, I didn’t have the account number. I then received another call yesterday, December 10th, once again asking for my card information. I told them I was unwilling to provide my card information because I still did not have a receipt nor the documentation from the appointment I had on the 5th. I was told that if I didn’t put a card on file I would need to pay for the services i received. She said the payment I made was only partial because basically my payments for the services were going to be split month per month and if I no longer wanted to be a care plan member I needed to pay the difference. I asked what the difference was and she said “I don’t know.” I then said how am I supposed to pay when you don’t even know the amount. She then proceeded to say that if I didn’t pay (the unknown amount) my account would be sent to collections. I said fine send it to collections because I still don’t have any documentation and you’re stating you don’t know how much I need to pay. I ended the call and then quickly received a summary of my visit, the girl that called made a summary note (leaving out details) of the call and guess what on the notice it says I owe $500+. The bill is also not itemized so I’m unaware of how that amount was calculated and it took them almost a week to provide care instructions. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. Somewhere that shows they care about their business and won’t punish you and your pet for THEIR mistakes.
Dec 12, 2024 · Odalis AvilesPet Insurance plan. My dogs pet insurance was billed to my credit card. Card was stolen and I updated and gave my new card to be billed on auto draft for future payments. Company said that was fine. We recently got a collections notice because they failed to bill the new card and cancelled our account. They refuse to fix the issue. Edit - we already called the number provided in the response to this review and they were unwilling to correct their mistake
Dec 27, 2024 · ndh87If you are looking for a place that the staff is rude and will treat your dog as a number look no further this is what you are looking for. If you like to wait to be able to make an appointment, or a place that after you wait for your appointment their system have glitches this is the right place for you. If you find joy leaving your dog for long period of time in a crate before being able to see the Vet this is the perfect place for you. And if you like to multiple times being discouraged to see the vet even though you have an appointment because they are always in emergencies this is the best facility for you! Even though I had proof of the appointment made a week prior they treated me like they were doing a huge favour to see my dog.
Jul 09, 2024 · Beatriz RubioThe only reason this review has one star is because the nurse was so nice, but Dr. Amantha Johnson is truly a terrible veterinarian. I normally take my dog to the Banfield in sterling and have always received amazing service. On Thursday morning my dog injured her back and I wanted her to be seen by a vet immediately to help ease the pain she was experiencing. The only available appointment close to me was at the Banfield on east market street so I just decided to take her there. Upon arrival I explained to the nurse that she has hurt her back jumping before and normally we get prescribed pain medication and anti-inflammatory medication to help. She took her back to see Dr. Johnson and she came out to discuss my dogs back. She asked why I brought her and told her how she tried to jump on a bench that morning and let out a small whine followed by shaking, which is the usual signs she gives when she’s in pain. Dr. Johnson then said to me “but she’s not in pain?” I responded “is she not? I brought her i. because she has signified that she’s in pain.” She clarified that she was asking me if she was i. pain to which I told her she was and was met by a frost attitude from her after. How could a trained vet not tell if my dog was in pain after examining her… I told her the normal medication we receive when she hurts herself is Moloxicam, and that my parents normally prefer it to be sent to the costco pharmacy. She then made it difficult to receive the medication saying that she couldn’t send it to the pharmacy (which is not true because at the sterling banfield they always do) and in a very rude tone said to me “it’s only $28 dollars and we have it here” while giving me a very rude look. My mom who was in the phone asked the nurse if she could speak to Dr. Johnson and the nurse said Dr. Johnson said she had no time to speak to us. We took the medication from banfield because we were tired of dealing with Dr. Johnson’s terrible attitude. We were supposed to receive 6 days worth of medicine, but today on the 4th day the syringe only filled halfway meaning she did not provide enough. My dog was still in a lot of pain so we took her to the Sterling Banfield to be seen. He told us she has a soft tissue injury and prescribe us medication (which, surprise! he was able to send to the pharmacy) Dr. Amantha Johnson truly is a terrible terrible vet, who lacked the knowledge that she should have received in school to properly care for my dog. She should be able to diagnose and prescribe medicine based on what she finds in her examinations, but rather let her snarky rude attitude get in the way of being a good doctor. I highly suggest to anyone to not bring there animals to be seen by her, she is a nightmare to work with and is not deserving of business.
